Hunter wakes up in the hospital after homecoming to learn that he has been in an accident and his girlfriend, Chloe, disappeared from the car. Hunter doesn’t remember the night at all, but everyone suspects that he killed Chloe; however, Hunter knows that he would never do that. This leads to a deadly investigation that leads to the surprising truth. (I do need to make one note that this author did have a side story of my least favorite trope which makes me like the book less than I would have if he’d stayed away from it…)

Young love with every door open to their future.....until that night. Hunter & Chloe are the couple everyone expects to be together forever, until death do it part. Then Hunter wakes in the hospital with no memories of the night before. Chloe is missing, no where to be found. Of course, Hunter is suspect #1. What follows is a story full of twists and turns that will have you changing your guess after each chapter. David Bell does an excellent job of making what could have been a copycat of so many other YA books into an original mystery worth your precious reading time. I'm sharing with my reading circle....they are going to love this!!!!

I’ve enjoyed other books by David Bell so I didn’t hesitate to read She’s Gone. At first, I didn’t realize it was written for teens and young adults. But, regardless of that, I enjoyed it.

This well-written story is told at a nice pace, with a number of interesting characters. I liked them all. The plot is simple but the circumstances behind the missing girl aren’t. As the entire community wonders and speculates, seventeen-year-old Hunter and his fifteen-year-old sister, Olivia try to ferret out the truth. I especially liked how their father stepped up and gave them the support and encouragement they needed.

I would have devoured this book if it had been in print when I was a teenager. NetGalley provided an advance reader copy.

This was an easy quick read. I was really curious what happened that night and did not expect the ending.

I was really excited for this book but it kind of fell flat. I'm not a huge fan of the author's writing, so it was a bit hard for me to get into the book as a whole.

She's Gone is your average thriller and I don't mean that in a negative way! It has the suspense, mystery, good character build, and fast paced which makes it honestly an enjoyable read. It just didn't give me any extra pzazz!

I realized while reading this that I'm finally past the YA thriller part of my life, I think if I was a couple years younger this would have been amazing. My tastes have just grown and so I didn't see anything over the top about this book.

I'll be honest, thrillers aren't normally my go-to read, but I was really intrigued by the premise of She's Gone. I ended up really enjoying this one and only kind of guessed the 'whodunnit?' towards the very end of the story. I was definitely left questioning all the way to that point though and was both heartbroken and slightly horrified. I enjoyed the MMC and was really empathizing with him throughout the whole story. I loved the conclusion and that is not something I normally feel at the end of thrillers.

I love a good YA mystery every now and then and this one really hit the spot! I loved the characters and I was hooked from the first page. Such a fun read!

Wonderful thriller of a book that will keep you on your toes. I loved the way the story wove and turned.

Quick moving and fast paced, but some of the pieces were easy to figure out. I was hoping for more suspense, but it was very well done for a YA novel. I liked Hunter, the lead character, and admired how he continuously tried to solve his girlfriend's disappearance, even though sometimes his choices lacked using his best judgment.

Very strange mystery that didn't really make sense in the end. Odd writing at times. I love a good mystery, but this one wasn't it.

I was initially drawn to "She's Gone" by David Bell thanks to its intriguing summary, and I'm thrilled to say that the novel lived up to its promise. From the moment I picked it up, I was captivated by the gripping narrative and the suspenseful storyline.

The book's summary hinted at an exciting tale, and the actual reading experience did not disappoint. David Bell masterfully weaves a web of mystery that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns that leave you eager to uncover the truth behind the enigmatic disappearance.

In "She's Gone," Bell's storytelling prowess shines through, creating an engrossing and suspenseful read. If you're a fan of mystery and suspense novels, this is a must-read that will leave you guessing until the very end.

have come to the conclusion that David Bell's writing is just not for me. I thought the concept of this YA novel sounded exciting and such a catnip premise for me (I love when a mystery centers on someone missing without a trace). Unfortunately, this book did not live up to my expectations.

We have high school senior Hunter who has survived an accident on Homecoming with a severe concussion and no memories from that night. His girlfriend Chloe was with him but has disappeared. As suspicion swirls around Hunter, he sets out to prove his innocence and find out what really happened to Chloe

Hunter and Chloe are high school sweethearts and after the homecoming dance, they get into a car wreck. Hunter wakes up in the hospital with a concussion and loss of memory. Chloe is nowhere to be found. The entire town begins looking for Chloe but Hunter looks like the top suspect. This is the first YA novel I have read of David Bell’s and it was an okay read. I love his adult fiction a lot better but this a great book for a younger reader.

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting since this is my first Bell novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was relatively predictable, but it was enjoyable. I found the characters to be fleshed out, and the novel pacing to be just right. I felt the chapters were a great length and can definitely see myself recommending to someone looking for this style of novel.

3.75 stars.

This one was a suspenseful read and not one that I found too predictable, but also just moderately engaging in comparison to similar novels. I found it to be a solid 3 star read. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this copy!

This is my second book by this author and is told in first person by Hunter, a seventeen-year-old boy who was apparently in a car accident, suffered from a concussion and doesn’t remember what happened. Oh, and his girlfriend has been missing ever since. Guess who suspect #1 is? Yep, the boyfriend. Did I mention he was 17? with this generation’s penchant to share every thought that comes into his head in videos on the internet, but not in person with anyone that matters. If I sound frustrated, it’s because I spent a lot of time yelling at Hunter and his choices. LOL At times I also found myself frustrated with the delayed responses to proffered information that never really materializes or doesn’t fit the build-up upon reveal.

Hunter is being raised by his father who is a bit standoffish but surprises him sometimes with his advice and support. There is a bit of reminiscing in the past about his relationship with his mother who died. Hunter also has a sister, Olive, who is a pain but both supportive and combative on his behalf and her girlfriend, Gaby, usually tags along in support as well.

Hunter’s experiences as he returns to school after the accident and Chloe’s disappearance are both eye-opening and expected. Some of his friends are concerned yet self-absorbed, some students stare in blatant interest at the scandal and others are openly bullying. Hunter has an old friend in particular that is making a true crime documentary about the incident that seems rather clueless about the effect of his project on Hunter and at times downright exploitative, yet also comes across as sympathetic in his anti-social tendencies.

The story is fast-paced and kept me guessing as to who was responsible for the couple’s accident and/or Chloe’s disappearance including a deer, an anonymous driver, a pervy teacher, an obsessive ex, etc., not to mention the main character in Hunter, who can’t really remember anything that happened. Just when I thought I had it worked out, a new tidbit of information would change the canvas.

Recommended to YA thriller fans who enjoy a protagonist they can yell at in frustration. LOL

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Fire for a copy provided for an honest review.

Really liked some of the topics brought up in the book and how they’re portrayed, but the writing and plot were really hard to get through. I’m hoping that this book is liked by other readers, but the writing style, dialogue, and plot was not my favorite.

'She's Gone' by David Bell is a well-written young adult mystery. Total page-turner and don't skip it because of the YA label. It is agood story with suspects everywhere!

I gave this a four out of five stars, I really enjoyed the mystery and finding out what happened. I totally didn't expect what happened but I enjoyed it. I like the relationship between the siblings. I totally recommend this book, I want to get a physical copy of this book. I will definitely be on the look out for other books by this author.
