I just flew through this clever YA novel! Hunter awakens from a coma after getting a concussion during an accident after Homecoming. But even more disconcerting is where is his girlfriend, Chloe? As he begins to piece together the night and its aftermath, more questions begin to plague him as nothing seems to make sense of the wrecked car and what caused the accident. His dad and sister attempt to help but when another death occurs, things get even more confusing and dicey! Great humor and tension in setting the scenes and taking us back to the comfort as well as terrors of high school and family life!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

Hunter and Chloe leave the Homecoming Prom and have an accident. Chloe disappears and Hunter is injured and cannot remember what happened.
Hunter is the main suspect in Chloe's disappearance and does his best to try and clear his name.
His childhood best friend, Daniel is making a true crime documentary about the incident, and Hunter is the last person to see him before Daniel is murdered, and his filming equipment disappears.
In the end, the last person you would ever suspect is the guilty party.
I did enjoy this book immensely, it kept me on the edge of my seat.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley & SOURCEBOOKS Fire for an eARC of She's Gone! I absolutely love David Bell's work, so upon getting approved for this one I had to drop everything I was doing to read it. This had been a highly anticipated release for me for 2022, especially given the YA storyline. Hunter knows he was with his girlfriend, Chloe, at the Homecoming dance the night of her disappearance. But how did he end up a the hospital? What happened that night, and where is Chloe?
I really enjoyed this book and with its quick, twisty chapters, I flew through it. I thought I guessed the twist(s), but I was pleasantly mistaken. I loved the quick chapters, the presence of an adorable LGBT couple in a YA thriller, a shocking ending, and the somewhat academia storyline. I've read a lot of 'missing person' thrillers and was really happy that this one wasn't like all of the others - This book is one I'll definitely be recommending to other book lovers!

This book is the delicious mystery and thriller. The main characters girlfriend has disappeared and the relationship was hardly perfect. Did he hurt her? I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It discusses important topics regarding toxic relationships and it’s a great story.

A thriller/mystery that teens will devour.
After the homecoming dance, our main character Hunter wakes up in the hospital with no clue as to how he got there. Apparently he was in a car accident on his way home from the dance. But he was driving with his girlfriend Chloe, so where is she? She's gone. And the pieces to Hunter's story don't add up. Chloe's purse, shoes, and phone are found in the wrecked car. But somehow Hunter made it to the hospital, some five miles away, without knowing how he got there. Did he leave Chloe behind? Was she kidnapped?
In an instant, it seems like his high school and the rest of his small town has turned against him. Hunter doesn't care that they think he's guilty. He just wants to remember what happened and find Chloe.
A page-turner that will keep you reading until the very end.

I really, really enjoyed this book! It was captivating and it hooked me from the very first chapter! I was glued to my seat!

Solid YA mystery book, it kept me hanging on the page and I was invested in finding out whodunnit. However, I felt like the second murder added in didn't make the most sense, and didn't fit in with the antagonist's motivation. Also, I believe the main character is written as Black but the scenes discussing police brutality and apprehension by his family felt clunky, even more so after finding out the author was white. Would recommend but with reservations.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
Cheesy but fun; goes down smooth and quick. 3.5 rounded up

So even though YA is not my genre, I really wanted to read this because I am, honestly, a huge fan of David Bell and the synopsis was very enticing. The story did not disappoint.
Hunter survives a horrific car accident on prom night and wakes up in the hospital with a bad concussion, bruising and with no memory of what happened. His date, and girlfriend, Chloe, is missing. With no memory of the accident or immediately before, there is little for the police to go on and public opinion quickly, along with Chloe's mother, pits Hunter as the villain of the piece. Throw in his somewhat withdrawn widowed dad and devoted younger sister and the family dynamic becomes just as riveting as the unwinding story.
The story is suspense filled with the usual Bell twists and turns. Just when you think you might have it figured out,,,whoops, there it goes, right out the window.
A really, really good YA novel for sure but to be perfectly honest, if you are a Bell follower, as I am, don't let the YA tag stop you.
Try it...you'll like it.
A lot👍

For the last decade I have read every adult mystery novel David Bell has written. I love the way he writes his characters and how he weaves their stories into the mysteries. The way you really know and care for the characters by the final, and always shocking, convulsion. I was extremely interested to see a new young adult mystery coming out by him.
You always suspect the boyfriend or husband. Isn’t that what we know? After homecoming Hunter wakes up in the hospital after a horrible car accident. But when is his girlfriend, Chloe? He’s not the only one asking that. Hunter can’t remember though and the entire town is turning against him. His former best friend decided to make a true crime documentary about this…and winds up dead. What did someone not want seen on that video? Hunter starts to doubt himself and sets out to find Chloe….whether that be if he killed her himself or someone else did. Or is she even dead? So many questions need to be answered but most of all….where is Chloe?
I recommend this book for missing person mystery lovers. It’s appeal is for young adult but adults will enjoy it as well.
