She’s Gone by bestselling author David Bell is a YA mystery that delves into the lives of Hunter Gifford and Chloe Summers, a seemingly perfect high school couple. However, a devastating car accident after homecoming leaves Hunter in the hospital with a concussion and no memory of the crash and what happened to Chloe. The passenger side is bloody and Chloe is nowhere to be found. The police, Chloe’s parents and the town begin to suspect Hunter has something to do with her disappearance and the facade of a perfect couple begins to crumble.
What I liked about the book:
-Bell writes teens in a relatable and believable way, I feel that some of the questionable stuff Hunter does to get to the truth would be the same as a person that age and at times very misguided
-short chapters
-unreliable narrator
-Hunter’s sister Olivia and her relationship with Hunter
-some twists and the ending
-the high school setting
What I disliked about the book:
-could have more character development…some came across as one dimensional
-needed a bit more oomph, it started off strong then waned in the middle but recovered in the end
-somewhat predictable
My rating: 3 out of 5
My final take away:
I would recommend this book for fans of quick reads with unreliable narrators, who enjoy YA books that take place in high schools. I felt it was current and would appeal to the Tik Tok age.
Potential Trigger Warning
Teacher/student sexual harassment
A huge thank you goes out to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for this eARC.

David Bell's She's Gone had me hooked from the very first page, Hunter's girlfriend Chloe has been missing since the night of homecoming and he is the most likely suspect in her disappearance. His memory of crashing their car into a tree is non-existent but the police, Chloe's parents and the majority of their town think that he's lying.
With the help of his badass younger sister Olivia and her equally badass girlfriend Gabby, they set out to discover the truth about what really happened that night. The twists and turns will have you suspecting everyone in the neighborhood and rooting for Hunter to prove his innocence, regardless of the dangers that he finds himself facing along the way.

I was really excited to read this, but it never kept my attention.. I finally gave up about a third of the way through and read the end. It was a surprising ending, but not enough to make me care to go back and read the middle.
The story is about a high school couple who went to the prom. The boy woke up without remembering nothing of the prom or the events following. The girl was missing. Her car, which the boy was driving, was in an accident and contained her blood.

Hunter and Chloe are high school seniors and in love, with that all-consuming intensity you can only feel when you are 17. Hunter believes Chloe is his best friend and that they know everything about each other. Then on homecoming night, disaster strikes, leaving Hunter recovering from injuries in a car crash and Chloe missing. Where is she? It seems like few people believe him when he insists he has no memory of the accident and he doesn't know where she is. Fortunately his close friends and family have his back, even if the rest of the town thinks he did something to Chloe. And then his old friend is murdered after he and Hunter have an argument. It doesn't look good for Hunter.
I love David Bell's writing and was thrilled to be approved for this one. It did not let me down - interesting characters, relatable plot and lots of suspicion to go around. I thought I knew who was responsible but it turns out I was wrong. There was only one minor hole that left me with some questions but it wasn't a deal-breaker. For me David Bell is becoming one of those authors that is an automatic read as soon as a new one is released. I would give this a 4.5. A big thank you to NetGalley and Source Books for this copy to read and review.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to access an e-ARC of this forthcoming title.
She’s Gone by David Bell is a solidly-plotted YA mystery with many fan-favourite elements: prom-night drama, an unreliable narrator, and a girl missing from an accident scene, followed by a murder that may be related to her mysterious disappearance.
The tension is deftly elevated by both the pacing — short chapters that often end with a ‘hook’ that entices readers to stay in the story — and the high stakes: main character Hunter, newly back on his feet after a severe concussion, is the main suspect in his girlfriend’s disappearance. His spotty memory of events cause him to question both his own actions and the night’s events, as related by Chloe’s friends, even as he reels from his genuinely-felt fear for Chloe.
When it seems clear that investigators and the community, including Chloe’s family, are convinced of his guilt, Hunter digs for clues in his faulty memory, propelling the plot forward and providing the reader with insights that stem from his deep understanding of Chloe’s character. The author makes clever use of the generational tension around social media and video — Hunter’s filmed pleas for peers to come forward with information, a backlash of accusatory TikToks, Hunter’s former friend Daniel leveraging the tragedy to break out as a true-crime documentarian — are examples of the authentic-feeling details that will help readers overlook a few too-convenient plot points.
The main characters are White; some secondary characters are coded as Black. Hunter’s fierce, clever younger sister has a Latinx girlfriend. A moderate content warning for teacher/student sexual harassment; Hunter and Chloe’s sexual relationship (off-page) is disclosed and discussed.
Would I buy this title for my high-school library?
Yes: it will be popular with the many students who enjoyed Holly Black’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

She’s Gone is one you will have a hard time stopping! Thank you so much to NetGalley for this advanced copy!

This is a clever mystery with engaging twists and an unexpected ending. Not quite a thriller but still pretty thrilling, it's well worth a read!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I love David bell but I don’t normally read YA books. I had to try his new book cause they suck me in every time. It didn’t disappoint! I couldn’t put it down. So good and kept me guessing who done it the whole time. Total twist! Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book!!!

This was a middle of the road read for me. I acknowledge that I am not really the target audience for this book and for me it read in the younger end of the YA spectrum.
That said I think for people looking to step into the mystery genre this is a good place to start. It has an interesting premise and the writing is good. I did enjoy the short chapters I thought they helped the story keep moving. The characters are likeable and you do become invested in the outcomes for them.
As an experienced reader in the mystery/thriller genre I did find some of the plot twists a little predictable however as an introduction to the genre I think new/younger readers would find this book really enjoyable.
I would pick up more from this author to try.
Thanks to netgalley, sourcebooks fire and the author David bell for access to an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

A great YA that keeps you guessing until the end! Definitely recommend, even for adults. Really fast paced read.

When 17=year-old Hunter wakes up in hospital on the night of prom, he can’t remember anything of the evening. He learns he had been in a car accident and had somehow made his way to the hospital alone. But he hadn’t been alone in the car. His girlfriend had been in the car with him but now she’s missing. Has she wandered away hurt and confused or is it something much much worse and was Hunter involved in her disappearance?
She’s Gone by David Bell is one heck of a page-turner. It gripped me from the first page and it kept me guessing right to the end. I couldn’t put it down until I found out what happened. It’s aimed a YA audience but it definitely has appeal for older readers. A definite high recommendation from me.. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read ths book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this E-Book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. This review will also be shared on GoodReads.
I really enjoyed this book. Normally I don't go for YA novels, but I'm really thrilled to report that this one was definitely worth reading. I really enjoyed learning about the relationship between Chloe and Hunter, and Hunter's relationship with his family. All of the characters were really well-written. Hunter's sister Olivia was my favorite character. I'm usually pretty good with guessing plot twists, but this book surprised me. I kind of saw where things were going but the build up was excellent. It was a quick read for me, but I got everything I needed from the book.

Another amazing ya mystery from David Bell! I was so excited to receive and be able to review his new book and this one definitely did not disappoint!

A promising plot but I feel the writing could have been developed some more. Some of the reveals were a bit predictable but there were some further complications which made the ending more worthwhile. The characters were described fairly well but could have been rounded out a bit more.
I received this arc from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

“Where. Is. Chloe?”
Well if it’s not the question of the year!!! Wow this book felt like real adrenaline through the entire reading process!!!
A YA mystery thriller where everything is blurred and a young boy is thrown in the middle of it all simply because he doesn’t remember anything that happened at Homecoming night between him and his girlfriend while he was driving !!!
I particularly enjoyed the siblings dynamic between the main character and his sister, and the honest support they have for each other. I really liked how far they were ready to go to uncover the truth and, I’m not going to lie, that ending … wow wasn’t expecting it!!!!
I had some thoughts and predictions on how it would have turned out but well … let’s say I guessed some right and some wrong!!
I just needed a book like this one and I’m glad I had the chance to read it!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this novel. I am rating this book based the stars due to lack of time to leave a full review. #NetGalley #ShesGone

She's Gone will take you on a journey as you try to figure out exactly what happened at that dance between Hunter and Chloe, why their car crashed, and where Chloe disappeared to.
No one believes that Hunter does not remember the events of the car crash. How could he not remember what happened to his girlfriend? He must be faking it, right? In fact, Hunter has no memories of the evening and every step he takes to try to exonerate himself in the court of public opinion goes awry.
The reader will enjoy trying to figure out how innocent Hunter really is, and who exactly was driving that car that he claims he saw the night of the crash.
Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

Taco Bell Chihuahua Say What?! 😳😯🤯😳
Wholy bonfire smoke! What in all that is good and true in this world?! This was an exceptional YA thriller mystery! But I expected nothing less from Bell, as his other thriller novels are just as divine. This was such a fast-paced, quick read I couldn't get enough of! As always, he was perfectly on point with the mystery & suspense and ranking up the wonder and suspicion.
Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: Hunter, seventeen years old, has just gotten home from the hospital after a severe head trauma & concussion after a car accident on the night of homecoming. And his girlfriend, Chloe has been missing since then. Items of hers found in the passenger side of the vehicle, including blood, has left more questions then answers of what happened to her and Hunter with no recollection of the night. To make matters worse, aside from everyone and the police believing he had something to do with her disappearing, Chloe's mother voices it publicly. As he starts to try and figure out what happened that night, he will come across things to face about himself and others he knows. Who can you trust, when you can't even remember?
An absolutely tasty treat by Bell. Even if you're not into YA novels, this is still perfect for the genre lovers it is. This was clever, smart, & so unexpected for an ending I was left breathless. Once again, a knock out by him. I ate this up like a large pizza all to myself with no shame. He knows how to keep you in the dark & unsure until he's ready to let you uncover what he wants & when he's finally delivered the final blow, you're never ready. And that's what I love about him! Absolutely genius at his job. Now excuse me while I rehydrate!
Thank you to NetGalley & SOURCEBOOKS Fire for this ARC.

She's Gone by David Bell
⭐⭐⭐/5
When a boy wakes up in the hospital after his home coming dance, with no memory of how he got there, he spirals into a restless state of trying to uncover what happened that night. One thing he does know is his girlfriend is missing. He knows she was with him in the car that night. But now shes missing. And the entire town thinks he had something to do with her disappearance.
This book had all the ingredients to a good thriller . The thriller aspect was definitely present. I wanted to know what happened until the very end . Unfortunately I didn't feel the ending was exactly the shocking twist I needed. Yes . I didn't expect it . But I also expected more. .
I felt the chatacter building could have been stronger . I feel like I needed to know the missing girl - Chloe better in order to feel any sympathy towards her disappearance.
This book is classified as a YA / Thriller .

Another take on the "I can't remember" trope. This time it is 17-year-old Hunter who has forgotten the night that he and his girlfriend got into a car accident. Told from Hunter's point of view we follow along as he investigates what really happened that night, is Chloe really gone? Did he have something to do with it? Or is something more nefarious at work?
I was surprised by how much I liked this as it is listed as young adult but it is really a grown-up story with younger characters. As usual David Bell writes a tension filed mystery with plenty of twists and turns. The author writes teens in a believable way and was able to evoke a mirid of emotions from this reader. I liked that the mystery's many layers are slowly peeled away as the who and why are revealed. Whether you are a fan such as myself or new to the author you won't be disappointed.
