This was an awful thriller. There was no plot. The twists were non existent. The characters were one dimensional and weak. The writing was simplistic and weak
This book just didn't hit the spot for me. I didn't seem plausible at all and I just couldn't ever get into it. I skimmed it just to get to the end. Thank you Netgalley and Inkubator books for this sneak peak!
This was a pretty cheesy read if I’m honest. I didn’t like anyone in the book and it read like a really bad made for TV movie. I really wanted to like this but it just didn’t hit the spot for me at all, sorry. The plot was pretty basic and it was obvious from the get go what was going to happen. It just really wasn’t an enjoyable read for me
2.5. - Amy and Tim are delighted after buying a large rundown house and garden cheaply but they get more than they bargained for when they engaged a caretaker to help manage the wilderness outside. Starts off well, an intriguing storyline, easy to read etc but then enters the world of improbability. I have no idea how the financial side would have worked or maybe it’s just different in the States. Amy is a bit pathetic, more of a doormat and the other characters are just unpleasant. That ending? No, not for me!

Suspenseful and twisty - just the way I like my thrillers! I will read more books from Emily Shriner.
Not a bad read for sure. Parts fell flat for me and I wanted to like it more than I did based on the synopsis but it just did not. I would definitely give the author another go as this was my first book of hers.
so I didn't like this one very much. like the idea was there but it was not executed good enough. at least not for me. the characters were weird and they actually didn't know what they were doing. they didn't trust themselves or each other. every thing was spelled out and I felt like somethings were explained over and over and over. I didn't have that WOW factor so to speak and fast paced only because I skipped some pages to see if anything interesting happens.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy in exchange for my honest review
Well, thrillers are my favorite, but this one didn’t keep me too engaged. It sounded like it would be good, but I just felt it dragged on a bit much & struggled to connect with it.
This was a great story. I enjoyed reading it. It had a fantastic sense of atmosphere and tension. I actually rated this book 3.5 stars rounded up. The main reason it didn't get a higher rating from me was that it was fairly predictable. It is still a very good book. Just would of loved a more unique story. I felt like I had read similar stories to this one. I do read a lot of thrillers but if you don't read so many I am sure you will enjoy this one. You can always try a sample to see if it is your 5-star read. I liked the characters development some were unpredictable with the things they do. I had to laugh when the Characters were running towards the danger. I was like really lol. It is a believable story that you could see happening somewhere.
Many thanks to the author for creating this fun story with great atmosphere.

That was so good! Everything I could ever ask for in a Thriller! Omg. I picked the right book to read.
Cheers to Netgalley for the copy!
What a great book! I love everything by this author and this book was no different! I couldn't put this down and was up all night waiting to see how it ended!
The Caretaker was a some what predictable domestic suspense. I’m not sure how I felt about knowing the details of the whole plot up front. I personally like to be somewhat surprised and see if my guess was right. Tim and Amy buy a house without seeing it and decide they need a caretaker. There’s some twists in the story. I’m definitely going to read another Emily Shiner book. It’s really a 3..5 star read, I did enjoy it
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. A good thriller suspense novel. Recommend
This was a fast-paced page turner that’s a wee bit far fetched and over dramatic but still a good weekend read.
I think this is my first book by Emily Shiner, but it won't be my last! A quick paced thriller that was somewhat predictable but still kept me entertained and reading.
Amy and Tim buy a new house sight unseen. Once there they discover several odd things about the house that weren't disclosed by their realtor, who seems somewhat shady. They hire a caretaker named Paul to help them out but this quickly goes south. The story is a very fast-paced twisty ride and the ending was shocking. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.
Okay - I love a domestic thriller and this one did not disappoint! I had so much fun trying to guess the ending!
I love a book that is full of twists and turns and this didn’t disappoint, sadly it got a little predictable the further in I read, but still enjoyed the adventure.
Dark thriller that had you hooked from the off. The book was very well written. Great plot. Very exciting. Fast paced to get your heart racing. Loved this book. First time reading a book from this author. Will be looking out for her in the future
Average thriller. I thought we learned too much to quickly which made it hard to get through the second half when I already knew what was coming. I feel like this plot has been done a few too many times and I wanted to feel that pow or new twist and I just didn’t get there. The writing was great I just couldn’t connect to the charachters line I wish I could. Thank you for my arc :)
