I was drawn to this book because of the idea of splitting inheritance among cousins and that is something my family went through with our grandparents' cottage. Unfortunately the story didn't quite match up to my hopes, the characters were not very likeable and I had a hard time sustaining my attention. It is a fairly quick read though and if you're looking for a light, women's fiction this might be the right book for you. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book.

This book blew my expectations out of the water! I could not believe how much I loved each of the characters, all of their faults included. Something about the way they were written was so relatable and human, almost as if Parker wrote them from her own experience. Though deeply flawed, each character brought the family to life and by the end of the book, I felt like I was engrained in the Nolan Ridge family like they were my own!

I normally don't gravitate towards family drama, but something about the synopsis drew me to this book (and I'm so glad it did). The plot was well-developed, the characters grew in a believable and realistic way, and the setting was immersive. I would recommend this book to fans of Claire Lombardo!

I did not finish "The Family Compound" by Liz Parker because I couldn't get into the story and found all the characters unlikeable. Additionally, I'm currently in a reading slump where nothing holds my attention.

Nice quick read, very enjoyable. Easy read and a little bit quirky. Would recommend if you want something you can read with ease and take you away from it all.

The cover really drew me in, but this was a great women's fiction with lots of feels. I felt like I really connected to all the characters.

Unfortunately, this was a book that did not grab me from the beginning. It was overwhelming with the number of characters right out of the gate, and slow moving.

I thought my family of origin put the 'fun' in 'dysfunctional,' but that was prior to reading The Family Compound and being relieved to see that there is no such thing as a perfect family and that death and grief can bring out the worst in all of us.

A family book about siblings navigating the loss of a loved one. I thought the plot was a little hard to follow and not super realistic. It took a while to get through.

I enjoy stories about complicated family relationships. Five cousins inherit the family's sprawling estate in Stowe, Vermont. Each one of the family members is facing some obstacles in their lives. As you might imagine, no one agrees on whether to sell the house and property or not. I liked this book a sot and look forward to Liz Parker's next book.

I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest opinion

Very interesting concept not something that I would normally read but I'm glad that I gave to try.

Today
The Family Compound is a powerful exploration of family dynamics by author Liz Parker. Through her delicate yet raw portrayals of her characters, Parker shows that family is more than just the people we are related to, but those that are linked to us in many ways.

Penny, Halsey, William, Laurie and Chris, the five cousins in this story, come from very different backgrounds. Yet when it comes to their common family compound, all of their values align and must work together if the property is to remain in their possession. Through this plot point, Parker emphasizes that often what makes a family is much bigger than shared genetics.

As each character is dealing with personal challenges, it is heartwarming to see them bond together to preserve their common home. It’s not easy, but with support and empathy they are able to reach a place of peace. It’s here that the novel’s most compelling aspects emerge: trust, empathy and redemption.

Liz Parker masterfully weaves all of these components together to make a captivating story of the bond between family. Although not everything has a fairy-tale ending, this is still a comforting reminder of the love, faith and courage that ties a family together, no matter how challenging the obstacles. It is a story of broken dreams and yet of infinite hope.

I thoroughly enjoyed this insightful novel about family, broken dreams, and holding on to everything in life that matters. Two sets of siblings - five cousins must together decide the fate of their shared family property. They each have individual perspectives and as we learn what both makes them tick and their background we root for them, not one, not two but all of them, each of them to find a way to have a shared future!

I really enjoyed this domestic drama about five cousins who come together to decide what they're going to do with a much loved family property in Vermont. Great mental health rep and memorable characters, this was a delightful read. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Easy, enjoyable read that focuses on the dynamics of family. This will be relatable for many readers. The story isn't ground breaking, but it is a nice look at family dynamics and the stories we tell ourselves and others to get us through.

This book is full of quirky characters and lots of surprises. The characters were fun to get to know and it was refreshing to have cousins, not siblings, as the main characters.

I found this to be a thoughtful insight into a family who are trying to find their way as a unit and as individuals. There is good character development and a few surprises that makes this book an interesting read which is sensitive, slow paced and very enjoyable.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy. Flawed character, family surprises and strife, romance. This book offers a lot to love. I only found I wanted more about each character. I’d love a follow up!

This book surprised me in a good way. It took me a little to settle in and understand the characters, since this type of emotional and reflective book is usually not my go-to. However, I’m really glad I was able to read this book through NetGalley. While the cousins went through standard cousin problems like disagreements over what to do with the inheritance (because of the unanimous decision clause), the author took us and helped us understand the perspective of each of the cousins. I thought that was a great decision to tie the book and the flow together. I thought the conclusion of the book was well done, and exactly the ending that the characters deserved!
