I enjoyed the two separate storylines that finally came together at the end of Dreamland. I never guessed how the two stories would intertwine despite having many guesses throughout the book. Colby and Morgan have the sweetest love story filled with genuine emotions. Their hesitancy to believe falling in love so quickly can happen had me wishing their romance would be of the forever kind.

Told from two different points of view, Dreamland follows the lives of Colby and Beverly in a mix of romance and mystery. The lives of these two characters are intertwined together in an unexpected plot twist.

Colby is an aspiring musician who ends up managing the family farm in North Carolina instead of pursuing his music career. Taking a rare break from farm duties, he takes a short-term gig in Florida where he meets recent college grad Morgan. Like Colby, Morgan also has musical aspirations and is planning a move to Nashville to follow her dreams.

Beverly is a young mom desperate to leave her abusive husband and start a new life with her son. Living everything behind, she lands in a small town. Through her best efforts to remain hidden, she feels like she’s being tracked.

Once the lives of Colby, Morgan and Beverly collide, it’s a suspenseful but heartfelt story that you can’t stop reading. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early edition of Dreamland.

So grateful to get my hands on this one early, I’m a big NS fan!
However, this one just fell flat to me. We follow two different stories and I didn’t really feel anything for the romance-it felt almost forced and a little too insta-lovey for me. The other story I enjoyed a lot but it gave me a sense of whiplash, almost like I was reading two completely different books.
I still gave it 3⭐️ but definitely not a favorite of mine.

If you’ve read one Nicholas Sparks book, you’ve read them all. Just. So. Boring.

I used to love them but they are just all exactly the same. Nobody is funny. The girl is always too good for the guy, who actually has a heart of gold. Nobody fucks up. Everyone is understanding. They both fall in love within a few days. Everyone makes love.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC copy of this book. I had really high hopes for this one after loving his last new release (The Wish) but it just fell short for me. While I typically like a multi perspective book, this one felt super disjointed for much of the story. Colby’s storyline seemed super fake and forced- does anyone really fall in love in two days?! And the way his love story with Morgan was written just felt overly “current and hyped”- not natural.

I liked Beverly’s chapters, but was very confused on how it would all come together.

Overall, it just seemed forced to me. It shouldn’t take until 80% into the book to grip the reader in to most of the story.

Nicholas Sparks has taken an unusual approach with his new upcoming novel Dreamland. Most of this book is from two different POV, telling two different stories. Two unconnected storylines that left me scratching my head.

The first POV is about Colby Mills. Colby grew up in the small town of Washington, North Carolina and at the young age Colby had to abandon his music career path to oversee and run the family farm and produce business. After seven years of getting the business back in the green, Colby takes three weeks to do what he loves the most, play a music gig at a local bar in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Here he meets Morgan Lee from Chicago, a young lady whose life is so different from Colby. Most of all she is chasing her dream to become a singer and songwriter. Their common love for music pulls these two together and they fall in love. Is there such a thing as love at first sight? Soon tragedy will strike again sending Colby off in another direction.

The second heartbreaking POV is about Beverly. Beverly and her six-year-old son Tommie are on the run. They are running from Beverly’s abusive husband Gary. She has taken extreme care to make sure Gary can’t trace their escape .. she has saved some money, packed very little, made sure she had no special direction she was heading to finally settle down in a small rural town. As money starts to run low, to ensure Tommie’s well-being, Beverly stops eating and sleeping a choice that will change both lives.

The last part of this book crashes the lives of Colby, Morgan, and Beverly into an unexpected twist of events.

Dreamland is a story about family, growing up and taking on responsibility that is not necessarily your dream. It is about heartache and love found. Something Nicholas Sparks does so well .. he certainly knows how to tug at your heart. I really wanted to give Dreamland a 5-star rating but truthfully did not feel the chemistry between Colby and Morgan until the very end..

Admittedly I dropped off from being a Nicholas Sparks fan a few years ago. I loved his early stuff but then I'm not sure what happened. I am glad that I decided to give him another try.

This story is mostly told with two totally different characters/timelines that somehow weaves together beautifully in the end. Though I had it pretty much figured out and knew where it was headed I was still a little surprised in the end. It was overall a quick well written story so I'm glad I read it.

I haven’t read a new Nicholas Sparks book in so long so I was really excited to dive into Dreamland. Unfortunately this one ended up being just so so for me. I thought the love connection felt forced and I didn’t really think the story picked up until the last 50 pages. It was just a little boring to me. Thank you netgalley for my free review copy.

I haven’t read a Nicholas sparks book in a hot minute, but this was a good one!! I forgot how quickly I get immersed in his books.

Classic Nicholas Sparks with a twist you don’t see coming. It’s a journey of discovery and of escaping what you think is holding you back. And true to form, it’s a love story. Colby has given up on his dreams and embraced what he believes is what is meant to be his lot in life, until a forced vacation changes everything. Beverly has chosen to escape her lot in life only to discover she hasn’t. Loved this one and gave it a 4.5 on the scale. Thanks to NetGalley for the early read.

Thank you @netgalley, @randomhouse & of course, @nicholassparks for access to this ARC! Dreamland publishes on September 20th.

I know Nicholas Sparks is the king of romance, but this one was actually a lot more than that. It was suspenseful and mysterious, and those parts of the book actually stood out to me more than the love story.

We’ve got 2 POVs, Colby and Beverly. Colby’s parts are where the love story takes place, and although I liked those chapters well enough, there was a heavy “instalove” trope which ya know, was what it was. I basically found myself just waiting to get back to Beverly’s chapters which were super mysterious and downright addicting.

In true Nicholas Sparks fashion, there was a “plot twist” that brought these characters together, but I figured it out pretty early on. Having said that, I still found it interesting to learn all the little details I missed throughout reading. Plus, I just love a story that comes together in the end. And the conclusion was super satisfying, even with Colby’s (insta)love story 🤪

So, yeah, I don’t think I need to tell you that this guy knows what he’s doing when it comes to writing a book. I would recommend it, and now I’m even more excited to finally pick up The Wish off my of my TBR super soon!

Dreamland is a cheesy romance and so cliché. There are two storylines, two young characters who are beautiful and musically talented fall in love while on vacation in Florida and a struggling mother and son running from an abusive life. Midway through the book I started to piece together the connection between the two stories but it just didn’t work for me. The two stories were just too disparate and I found myself skimming pages to reach the end.

I didn’t anticipate liking this as much as I did. Not sure why since I’m a sucker for a good love story?? I found this to be quite clever, the weaving of these two characters and how they are connected.

This author has a formula and it works for him. There is the instant attachment and love between two characters and then the tragedy that pulls them apart. What happens next? Sorry… no spoilers.

Although the characters were young, they both had a maturity to them and their dialogue was organic and sensible. There were things that I predicted in this story but there were also some interesting twists that I did not expect.

This was a nice break from the thrillers and I will definitely look forward to his next story. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Random House Publishing Group - Random House for a copy in exchange for a review.

Nicholas Sparks spins the most beautiful, heartfelt stories that evoke emotions whether they be joy, sadness, love, sympathy or distress. He just has a way of pulling them from you. His characters always seem realistic and fully developed.

This book is no different, weaving Cody's story and Beverly's story in two different timelines until the stories collide. This is a story of family and responsibility as well as growing up. There is loss here as well as love. The romance is adorable. I loved the music connection in the story and found the songwriting collaborations fun. This would make a great summer beach read.

Thanks to Random House Publishing Group through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on September 20, 2022.

As always Nicholas Sparks does not disappoint. His work is beyond amazing. His writing is flawless and the characters and storyline of his new book are perfectly developed. Dreamland is a 5 star book that I would recommend everyone reads. Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC. This was a highlight of my summer, book wise.

I received an ARC of this book from Random House Publishing Group via Netgalley in exchange for my review. I have been a big fan of Nicholas Sparks since the beginning of his career. I loved his early novels but as more and more of his books have been turned into movies, I feel the quality of his writing has declined, but I thought I would give Dreamland a try. Big mistake! This novel was so boring! I didn’t care about either of the main characters and then there was a second story line added and it was just as bad as the first. Save your money! There are way better books out there!

While I enjoyed reading this book from Nicholas Sparks, it was definitely not my favorite.

There are two main POVs in the book: Beverly, a woman fleeing her abusive husband with her young son, and Colby, a musician who quickly falls in love with a young woman named Morgan. I really loved reading Beverly's chapters and was immersed in her and Tommie's story. However, I was not interested at all in Colby and Morgan's relationship. I didn't find their connection to be very deep and as the book went on, I found myself rushing through the chapters about them to get back to Beverly's story. An easy read, but I feel Sparks has better novels than this one.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. At first, I was a little unsure because it went back and forth between two completely different story lines, but the way Nicholas Sparks brought them together was nothing short of amazing. I think the characters had depth and a little intrigue and I really just wanted to know everything about them. Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

Much thanks to NetGalley and Random House for an ARC from one of my favorite authors.
If, like me, you count the days, awaiting the release of the next Nicholas Sparks book, then you'll really want to dive into this one......since it offers a kind of 2-for-1 Sparks-ian double feature.
In alternating chunks, two separate Nicholas Sparks novels seem to unfold here......but both of them, each very different from each other, will bring up instant memories of some of the author's previous. best loved work.
In a Florida beach resort, there's an inevitable, sweetly tender love story between two people whose backgrounds and futures appear predestined to send them on different paths, no matter how deep their passion for each other. Colby's a hardworking North Carolina farmer and aspiring singer-songwriter who's vacationing during the day and at night, playing his music to appreciative crowds at a local beach bar. From out of his audience he meets and falls hard for Morgan, fresh out of music college and a truly gifted singer songwriter herself.. Morgan holds big dreams of Nashville stardom, while Colby shoulders heavy obligations to both the farm and the aunt and sister who raised him. (Need I say more?)
And then, in other chapters, 'Dreamland' delves into a suspenseful thriller about Beverly, a battered wife who's gone on the run with her young son in a desperate escape from her abusive husband. Living in dread and ever increasing paranoid terror, Beverly's sure it's only a matter of time before her free-with-his-fists husband hunts her down, since he's part the Federal law enforcement community - with access to security cameras everywhere.
While reading these two parallel plots, you can't begin to imagine what they're doing in the same book. what they possibly could have in common, and how in the world they're going to intersect..
And that's the last I'd dare say about it, except that everything you'd expect and want in a Nicholas Sparks novel is checked off here - the couple to root for, their romance to ache for, the woman and child to fear for and all the heart wrenching emotions involved in both storylines...All of which made "Dreamland" a definite 5 star read for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Randomhouse Publishing for the ARC of Dreamland Publication Date: 9/20/2022

Colby runs a farm with his close knit family and is a musician from North Carolina. When he takes a gig in St.Petersburg Florida for a few weeks he meets Morgan and is instantly swept up by her.

While that’s happening another story is taking place. Beverly is on a path to get her and her son away from her abusive husband.
This book takes place within a week and goes back and forth between Colby’s story and Beverly’s story until finally their worlds collide.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Nicholas Spark’s book so I went into this thinking it was going to be the typical plot with the cute small town beach setting in North Carolina but it was somewhat like that but not. It has short chapters so it reads fast and you keep wondering what is actually happening as most of the book has the two storylines that have nothing to do with each other.

Colby and Morgan’s relationship seems a little superficial. She’s a tik tok star and he’s this small town farmer and the only thing they have in common is the fact that they play music.
Beverlys story is full of Anxiety and I was beginning to wonder about her as she seems a little dissociated.
The whole time I was reading this I was wondering how either of these stories go with one another. I did figure it out and one of the stories is heartbreaking.
So did I like this book? Sure.

It deals with family, mental illness and finding yourself.
