I didn't find the story to be interesting enough to keep reading, so I DNFed the book at like 20%. This is really sad for me because I usually love Nicholas Sparks books. I guess this one just wasn't for me.
Nicholas Sparks helped grow my love of reading when I was a teenager. Most of his older stuff is some of my faves. Unfortunately this book didn't hit the mark for me. The connection between the main characters just didn't seem to be there and the story overall felt disjointed. I look forward to reading more books by the author.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Nicholas Sparks as a teenager but haven't read any books from him in years. This book felt disjointed to me. The connection between Colby and Morgan felt weak, and though I thought the Beverly parts were interesting, the book itself felt choppy. I figured out part of what was going on, and I thought the story overall had some strong elements, but it just didn't go well together.
I love all Nicholas Sparks, even when I don't want to. This was another great story, a little different than others, but still gave you all the feels of a great Sparks novel.
Another wonderful book by Nicholas Sparks. It was a bit slow at the beginning but as I got into it the characters and storyline are intriguing enough to keep me interested.
Told through two points of views. First we meet Colby who is jumping quickly in a relationship with Morgan. They just met while on vacation in Florida and it seems to be a bit unrealistic but I still was rooting for them to find a way to get together. Then we meet Beverly who is trying to escape an abusive relationship with her young son. She is so desperate to keep her son safe and goes through some suspenseful moments that made me very concerned about her and her son's well-being.
These two points of view come together in a heartbreaking way that definitely reminded me it was a Nicholas Sparks novel. The way they were brought together was flawless and believable.
Though not my favorite book by the author I did end up enjoying it and give it 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.
A new favorite by Nicholas Sparks. The setting and multiple storylines were woven together flawlessly.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Random House for the ARC of Dreamland. Nicholas Sparks is an auto-buy author for me. I love the way his writing transports the reader to another time and place. Like all of his novels, Dreamland was a quick and enjoyable read. Dreamland focuses on two separate stories. I did not figure out how they would eventually intersect, so the plot surprised me. There should be a trigger warning for those who would rather not read a story that touches on DV. I also felt the happily ever after was a little forced. This is not my favorite Nicholas Sparks book, but I’m not sad that I read it. I remain a fan who is always looking forward to his next!
Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors so I was extremally excited and felt a prevailed to be chosen for an ARC of this book. This story was a different one than what I expected but defiantly one I connected with. As someone who worked in the Mental Health field I was able to really understand and relate to one of the characters. It was a great book to see that representation. The book came together in the end but felt like a resolution with the two very different stories being told.
All the stars! Love Nicholas Sparks! Dreamland was amazing. Read in one sitting! Highly recommend. Encouraged book club members to all read!
I finally got to Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks. I remember freaking out from pure excitement when I found out I was approved to read it for NetGalley and then I have no idea what happened. This was released in September of last year…. Whoops. I’m just glad I finally got to it.
This story is told by two different perspectives. One man is on a work vacation. He’s off in Florida playing his music instead of being on the farm. He meets a girl. Then we are also following a woman who is clearly escaping a bad relationship with her son and is trying to start over.
❤️Review❤️
I really hate when I have to be negative in a review. I especially hate it when it’s for an author I usually love. However I was not a fan of this book. I spent most of the book confused. The two storylines were so drastically different and unrelated that I didn’t understand the point. It felt like I was reading two very different books. Each time you are with a given perspective you are there for multiple chapters at a time. I listened to it on audio and there were two different narrators that also helped that illusion. I was waiting for the time the two would finally connect. Once they did, it made me so mad. It just didn’t feel appropriate to be tricked in that way. *Spoiler ahead*
Mental illness should never be a plot twist. That’s not okay. What a let down.
2 stars! ⭐️⭐️

At times I forgot I was reading Nicholas Sparks. There was suspense and twists. Other times I was reading and thought, “Oh, yep. This is a Sparks book”. It has kindled my interest in more of his books. It was a bit different than the usual and I enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the DRC.
Another romantic love story from Nicholas Sparks. Wonderful story and such a story the leads go on. I loved the feel of the story and how much happens.
Oh Nicholas Sparks sure knows how to write a romance! This one had two different timelines and I couldn't figure out how they were going to come together. And when they did. I audibly gasped. So so good!!! I also loved the epilogue! Highly recommend this one!
Thank you for the advanced copy of this book. My reviews can be read on my GoodReads account here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1335387-kelly
Thank you Penguin Random House for the #gifted finished copy and netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Obviously, this review is very late as the book was published last year already. Over the last 6 months I attempted to read this book but not getting more then 50 pages in. I decided to give the audiobook a try instead. The audiobook made it a lot easier to get in to and I managed to binge the whole book in 1 day. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook and how that story came together. With the two different story lines and pov's I thought I would easily get lost but it was surprisingly easy to keep track of.
This was not my favorite love story written by Nicholas Sparks. It fell flat and just wasn't very memorable to me. I will continue to buy and read anything by him though.
I really enjoyed this book. I did not see the twist coming at all. The love story was so sweet. I really enjoyed the characters and found them to be lovable.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley and loved every minute of it! Dreamland is not your typical Nicholas Sparks novel! This book takes place in St. Pete Beach, FL [fun for a vacay read!] and has a plot that's totally different than anything I've read by Nicholas Sparks before. The novel introduces two very different characters with two very different storylines, that will have you wondering "how in the world are these two people connected?!".
I am pretty sure I have read all of Nicholas Sparks books so I was thrilled that Dreamland was out. I enjoyed the story and the writing was spot on. Never disappointed in his books.
Nicholas Sparks books all have a vibe/theme/feel about them. I went into this book expecting exactly that. While I will say it eventually gets to that, it does not in the beginning. It is a dual POV book about two characters and you wonder how and when their lives will intertwine the way you suspect they will in a "Nicholas Sparks Book". I loved Beverly and I loved the way she was so relatable with her story. I was a little confused with Colby's storyline at first but in true fashion the real plot reared its head and was lovely. I have never read a Nicholas Sparks book that I didn't enjoy and this one did NOT disappoint!
