I've read a few books by Nicholas Sparks and enjoyed them, and every time I read one I wonder why I haven't read more. I was intrigued by the description of this one and the dual storylines, and now that I've finished it I'm wondering again why I don't read more of his books.
One storyline is that of two young people who meet on a Florida beach vacation - they're immediately attracted to each other, and as they get to know each other their attraction grows with their common love of music and performing, despite their very different backgrounds. The other story is that of a woman trying to escape with her young son from an abusive relationship, and as we read we're trying to guess where these lives will intersect. I enjoyed the glimpse of North Carolina farm life - I have cousins who successfully operate the family farm in N.C. that my mom grew up on, so the ways the characters had found to adapt for success were interesting to me, and some were familiar. The account of a young woman planning her escape and the thought processes that go into devising such a plan were both compelling and heartbreaking, even moreso when the storylines converge. I read some of this book, but mostly I listened to the audiobook and can highly recommend the audio version to readers to enjoy audiobooks - the narrations of both storylines were excellent.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Nicholas never disappoints in making me feel for his characters. It’s like I’m right there with them, feeling everything they do, experiencing it all. This book was no exception. I’m still all up in my feels and it’s been days since I read it. Always recommend anything this man writes.

I used to love reading Nicholas Spark’s books, but his latest ones I have lost interest and this was my last attempt.

I am an avid lover of all things Sparks. I have a copy of every one of his books and have read most of them more than once. With that being said, I was not a fan of this book. It started out really slow for me and I had to make myself finish it. It was broken up into multiple parts and you do not find out until the end how they intersect. It was not his best work but it was still a great book. Nicholas Sparks is an amazing writer and you should not judge his talent on this one particular book.

Not his best book but acceptable. I had to force myself to keep reading. Many thanks to publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion

Thank U!

Here goes~Dreamland
Genre~ Chick Lit Fiction
Series~ No
Love triangle~ No
Cheating~ No
HEA~ Maybe?
Would I read more by this author~ Yes
Rating~ 3 stars

Dreamland is just what U'd Xpect to come out of Nicholas Sparks. An emotional roller~coaster however loopty or enthralling is completely irrelevant.

Story is about 2 siblings lives upbringing in their small town where they have a family farm.
Sparks tells this story from each of the siblings' perspectives.

Beverly is the older sister and Colby is the brother who during his High school years was a member of a band.
However ~ as the time passes farm life bcomes more demanding and forces Colby to reprioritize his decisions.
I found these characters somewhat relatable and I personally found it hard to connect to any of their stories.
There is however love and heartache and a sweet little twist in the midst that makes the read completely worth it!
All in all~Bravo!

I really liked this book.
It’s a little different than his normal books.
It had mystery, love, and family drama.
I liked the happy ending. The characters were really well rounded and I liked that as well

This one missed the mark for me. I liked the story and I typically love Nicholas' novels but I just felt like I forced myself to finish this one.

Dreamland was such an easy, cozy read and he has a way to gut you with his books. As with all of his books, this one is emotional and pulls at the heart strings. It has two separate seeming stories each written to connect the reader and keep you engaged. It isn't until the end that the stories overlap, leaving the reader fulfilled.

I enjoyed this love story... even if at times it would seem to be a bit unbelievable. The meeting between the characters as the story intersects. But I enjoyed the relationship that builds between the two and blossoms and then... separate..

I haven't read a Nicholas Sparks book in a long time, but I'm so glad I read this one. It was such an easy, cozy read and he has a way to gut you with his books. I loved this one and am now going back to read the ones I have missed before this one!

This book just wasn't for me. It wasn't bad, it just didn't pull me in the way I expected. I didn't connect with either of the main characters and was pretty bored by the storylines.

Nicholas Sparks did it again! Dreamland is another well-written story that tugs at the reader's emotions. There are two completely different storylines. Colby, a farmer, is a wonderful singer, but because of family obligations, he cannot follow his dreams. He goes to Florida for a vacation and for the opportunity to play in bar for a short while. He meets Morgan and falls for her. In the other storyline, Beverly is on the run from her abusive husband. She and her son hide away in a small town. She lives in constant fear.

I enjoyed both storylines, but Beverly's story was more of a page-turner for me. As I read the novel, I kept wondering how these two stories connect. But when I got to the end of the book, the two stories converged in a way that I never expected!

I highly recommend Dreamland! Way to go, Nicholas Sparks!!

Why.. why do I keep reading Nicholas Sparks books when I know they will gut you. I really loved Beverly's POV. I really didnt understand how Colby's POV linked until BAM. I really feel Beverly's POV was so true, relatable and researched why Colby's felt underdeveloped for depth. I am still glad I read it and I am sure it will still make a great movie. This has trigger warnings
<spoiler> attempted suicide, domestic abuse </spoiler>

What is there to say about Nicholas Sparks that hasn't been said already? His stories have a way of captivating my heart and totally encapsulating me, and Dreamland was no different.

Colby and Morgan. Beverly. Two different stories, but of course they will collide in a way that only Sparks can deliver. I fell in love with Colby and Morgan and their budding romance. In stark contrast is Beverly who is fleeing an abusive husband. This is a story of chasing your dreams and finding the ability to leave the past behind with hopes for a brighter future.

I love Sparks' writing style - I always feel captivated by the story and love how the different perspectives collide. The characters in this one were all so relatable and believable, I found myself rooting for them and their success. All the while I'm wondering how these seemingly opposite stories could intertwine. When they did I was surprised and a little underwhelmed, but still an enjoyable read overall!

Thank you to Random House for the ARC ebook! This was surprisingly my first Nicholas Sparks book (I’ve seen plenty of movies based on his books), but this was the first actual book. And I’m not entirely sure how to feel. I enjoyed it, especially because there’s a twist I definitely didn’t see coming. But the whole “insta-love” thing Morgan and Colby had seemed super forced. I’m also gonna go ahead and say that Morgan was probably my least favorite character. Colby was up there too. He focused a lot on her beauty in a sorta creepy way. Beverley, on the other hand, had a really great story line and I found myself wanting to hear more and more of her. I kept going because I wanted to see how their story lines intersected and to Nicholas Sparks’ credit, it was very well done. Overall, the characters fell a little flat. The storyline itself was pretty good. I’d recommend giving it a shot if you’re into his books or like the “insta-love” thing. I don’t regret reading this, but I probably won’t Re-read it anytime soon. I’m also gonna give some of his other books a shot too.

I love sparks books but this one was a slow burn for me. I felt like I loved Beverly’s story line each chapter I couldn’t wait to dig in and her more of her story. Colby and Morgan’s story fell a little more flat to me. I still enjoyed the story lines and where the story ended but I just wish there was more of an emotional connection between Colby and Morgan it felt very surface level. I also wish there was a few more twists and turns along the way to keep me engaged.

Thank you NetGalley for thru ARC

I have read all of Nicholas Sparks books and while this wasn't one of my favorites I did really enjoy it. I flew through it fairly quickly, connecting more with the chapters about Beverly and I must admit I wish I had heard more from her. It was a heartbreaking story and I recommend it to all Nicholas Sparks fans.
