I rate Dreamland a solid 3.5 stars, maybe 4.

I have not been an avid Nicholas Sparks reader in the past, though I have seen a few movie adaptations of his books and am generally familiar with his body of work.

Overall, I enjoyed Dreamland. It was an easy read in the best way, and would make a great "beach read" or vacation read. It mostly takes place in mid-May in Florida, where a couple of the main characters are vacationing.

I found myself turning pages, eager to find out what happens next. The book features two different stories, interwoven, and I found myself trying to find the connection between the two the entire book, and that curiosity compelled me to move through the book quickly. I read it in a couple of days. I found myself a bit more drawn to the "Beverly" storyline than the Colby/Morgan one, but Colby and Morgan's relationship was nice in its own way, following a more formulaic "romantic" storyline. I thought Sparks did a good job of fleshing out his characters and their motivations. He's a descriptive writer.

I also liked how the book came together in the end. While not totally unexpected, I still found myself surprised somehow, which was nice.

A couple things I didn't like as much--near the beginning of the book, the character of Colby is described as someone who lives in a small town on a farm and, as a way to convey to the reader that Colby is very much removed from society and focused pretty solely on farming and his music, it is mentioned that he does not vote. To me, this was a weird detail to include, especially at a time in our country when voting is more important than maybe ever, and doing anything to dissuade someone from doing so (even in the form of a fictional character) is in bad taste, IMO. Colby's personality and background would have been communicated just the same without that small detail. I also didn't like a snippet later on in the book where Colby essentially asks Morgan how much she weighs (by asking how much more than 50 pounds she weighed). Sort of a turnoff as a reader, but overall the book was still enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for providing an e-ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner from Nicholas Sparks! Colby, a young NC farmer meets a fellow singer in Tampa. They have a fun storyline throughout the novel. Then Beverly makes an appearance d the novel turns heavy. Interesting twist how the stories come together.

Colby Mills had dreams of a musical career but tragedy leaves him in the role of head of the family farm. When he decides to take a vacation and accepts a gig in a bar in Florida he meets Morgan who has plans to move to Nashville to become a star. They fall in love realizing that they will probably not be able to maintain a relationship. Beverly is on a different journey. Fleeing an abusive husband with her six years old son, she is hoping to build a new life in another town. Fate will bring all three together in a life changing connection that will test the love that Colby and Morgan have. Surprising twists!

Thanks to Nicholas Sparks and Random House Publishing Group for the book

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
I love Nicholas Sparks and his books, he sure does not disappoint.
5 Stars!
I love the characters and the plot. You instantly feel part of the characters.
This story deals with some heavy topics; death and mental illness. The plot is good and it flows nicely and handles the hard topics well..

I love the few Nicholas Sparks books that I’ve read and this one isn’t an exception. The two-story lines were vastly different emotionally. The lighter story line (Colby/Morgan) had me page turning as quickly as possible while the other (Beverly) felt so heavy. I found myself pushing my way through Beverly’s story line to get back to the Colby & Morgan’s. I couldn’t figure out how the two were going to weave together. I loved the ending and how it all tied together. I will be recommending this one and crossing my fingers for a movie.

This book really surprised me. I really enjoyed getting to know Colby, his life has been really rough, but he grew into this man who put everyone, except himself first, and was really responsible. Morgan on the other hand has had the perfect life. Their love story was predictable, but what wasn’t predictable was the development with Beverley/Paige. Going back and forth between between Colby and Beverley added to the suspense. The connection between Beverley and Paige was definitely unexpected. This is definitely one of Nicholas Sparks best books.

ThAnk you to Netgalley and the publisher for this book! This was such an amazing story, I loved Colby’s story, how he rebelled as a teenager and finally realized his place is on the family farm, how much he loves his sister, but then he meets the love of his life on a trip to the beach.

Then there is Beverly and at first it made me think of another Nicholas Sparks book. This book was such an engrossing easy to read book, it just didn’t last long enough.

There is such a huge plot twist with true love, a mama love for his family and the responsibility he feels for his family. So many different things tied together with so much detail make this one amazing story, Nicholas Sparks knocked it out of the park. Thanks again to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!! #DREAMLAND

Sparks has been of my favorite romance Author ever since I picked up The Choice and The Lucky One back in 2012 and I haven't stopped since! I've read all his previous reads and haven't been disappointed yet!
So I was extremely thrilled for the amazing opportunity to get an early look inside Dreamland.

I thought it was a beautiful story, of course it was extremely well written, and very enjoyable.
The characters were very realistic and the story somehow felt so real to me.
Nicholas Sparks has a way of writing characters that are incredibly easy to latch on to
I was fully immersed in it, falling in love with the characters and this wonderful story.
The story is compelling,
The depth here was brilliant and beautiful.
This story is adorable. I adored the characters, adored the storyline, loved the growth. Everything about this makes the reader want more.
I was hooked from the beginning. And never wanted it to stop.
This is definitely another masterpiece by the king of romance
Hen is a truly a talented storyteller and remains one of my favorite authors today!

Another home run for Nicholas Sparks! He is the master at weaving incredible stories where you feel you are right there with the characters. The details were so developed that I could completely visualize every scene along the way. The characters were likable and relatable. I felt like they were family and I cheered for each of them along the way. I often found myself holding my breath when I felt one of them was in danger.

Through most of the book, I thought I was reading two totally separate stories and I couldn’t see how they were in any way related.

However, like a master sculptor, Nicholas seamlessly molded the two stories into one. This is one of his best works and I can foresee this book appearing on the big screen.

Thank you for this advanced copy. I must be in the minority about this book. I just don't feel like his books are that good since he got divorced. They are all the same. People fall in love after 10 min, something happens so they can't be together, someone usually dies. Not giving anything away; that just tends to be his MO. I ended up skimming the ending. I don't feel like I would have continued this book had it been by another author. It was just ok. Not up to par with his original books.

I just finished reading Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks and what a ride it was. Here is my review..

Colby wasn’t looking to meet anyone when he took on a gig in Florida for 3 weeks, away from his aunt and sister and the farm they all run together but fate had other plans the day he clapped eyes on the beautiful Morgan Lee.
With their shared love of music and the beautiful songs they have been writing together, the 2 embark on a whirlwind that leaves them both breathless and wondering if they make this work when they are both heading in different directions but as they work out their love for each other, Beverly is on the run with her son…. Running from a man so dangerous she fears she won’t make it out alive if he finds them….

This book took me on a tailspin of a ride that I didn’t want to get off of. Right in the brilliant way the author always executes his books, you will be left feeling windsweep and satisfied.

You will fall in love with Colby right from the beginning. The way he fought to figure out who he was and then came to become the man to bring their farm from the brink of ruin and take care of his sister Paige and his Aunt. His story is so tragic you will want to fold him up in a blanket and tell him it will all be ok.
Morgan I had reservations about but like me, you will come to love her quirky and sweet personality and you will see why they fell so deeply in love.

Beverly's story will tear you apart inside and the twist at the end will have you in so much shock and awe that you may need a few minutes to recover, or if you are like me, the rest of the night. I don’t want to spoil the book for you so I won’t say too much but if you see the ending coming, I will eat my hat!

I found the whole read to be well paced, expertly written and up to the standards we have come to know and love from the author. One of the best ones yet for me!

If you love a great love story with a whirlwind of a twisted ending, this is the book for you!

5 stars!!

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. This book is written by one of America’s favorite authors. Family…friendship…love and romance…careers…secrets…heartache…what is real? What is not? This story is ingenious. The way it is written leaves much to the imagination. I could not put this book down. The story of the brother and the sister and aunt…heartbreaking and heartwarming. Throw in a girlfriend…this author is talented and gifted, and this story is unusual…unique…it is one this author’s best.

To be honest, I had never read Nicholas Sparks until I received an ARC of The Wish. That one was exactly what I'd expect of a Sparks book based on the movies I'd seen. However, while Dreamland had signature Sparks story elements, it was always a great mystery as well! I "discovered" the twist pretty early on, but that did not detract from the enjoyment of the book at all. Excellent read!

I was surprised by this book in several ways. First, The main character were 20 and 21. And, this is not a light hearted book but deals with more serious issues. The book was good just not what I expected

I always look forward to Nicholas Sparks' new books and his latest, Dreamland, did not disappoint. Being from North Carolina, I enjoy that his books are usually based in NC. This latest novel by Sparks is a quick read. It does deal with some heavy topics (death and mental illness) so it is not to be considered a fun, beachy read. However, it is a good book that flows nicely and handles the hard topics well. The characters are a bit on the youngish side (21 and 25), so it actually feels more like a young adult novel. The romance scenes are handled tastefully. Fans of Nicholas Sparks will honestly love this one. Just be warned it will grab you and you won't be able to put it down.

Typical Nicholas Sparks.....no!
I enjoyed the book but was really surprised on how the characters were involved with each other.
Colby and Morgan definitely had chemistry and I enjoyed their story. Then there was Beverly...interesting.
I would not want to spoil the book but I will be recommending it to the patrons at our library.

I enjoyed Dreamland right up until the epilogue! It was a wonderfully complex read and then it was tied up in a neat little bow. I get that it is fiction, but to have the story with such a pat ending was disappointing!

I have a love- hate relationship with Nicholas Sparks. Yes, he's the king of romantic writing but sometimes it's all too perfect. Dreamland is a fantastic example of Sparks' gifts. I couldn't put it down. I was so confused about how the two storylines were going to intersect and I just had to know what would happy next, especially with Beverly. Intriguing and, again, would make a fabulous transition to the screen.

Let me start off by saying this was a great book! I was a bit confused when Beverly enters the picture. And of course what I imagined happens to her was waayyy off base. The ending was so unexpect that it was difficult to put the story down as I was nearing he end. And of course afer everything that happens and everything that Caleb deals with, there is still a a happy ending.
