Kerrigan Byrne is one of the most historical romance authors of our time for a reason -- and CRYIN WOLFE shows us exactly why! Inspired by the King Midas fairytale, this retelling was so fun and swoon-worthy. 5 stars from me!

This has to be one of the most incredible books I’ve read (not even limited to historical romance genre). I cannot begin to explain how much I loved this book, adored these characters and enjoyed the storyline, The writing was superb as always, the plot so captivating I only wish the storyline was longer *cries*!

Have and will do about a thousand re-reads from this masterpiece so if you’re looking for your next read I highly highly recommend you pick this one up!

I couldn't finish this book. I used to love reading historical romance but I think it's just not my cup of tea anymore. I have been getting bored with these.

Rosaline Goode loves the stars. Her next door neighbor has an amazing telescope. The only problem is having to act like a cat to go and use it.

Elijah "Eli" Wolfe is newly arrived from Nevada. With a thick American accent and a huge head for business, he's after a treasure that was taken from him years ago. That treasure, however, happens to be in the same room as the telescope. Eli is the new owner of the property.

Things that start off as a simple misunderstanding, quickly turn into a forced marriage. Rosaline learns that Eli can handle all of the hardships that she has never been spared from in her upbringing. Eli learns that Rosaline can be trusted. The path to trust is paved with many obstacles however!

Our characters have an instant attraction, which is initially received as irritation. Once married, they learn together to play to their unique strengths.

I really enjoyed Eli. Street smart and worldly wise, he's a self-made man with keen instincts and a willingness to learn more. His protective side is a beautiful foil to Rosaline's smaller stature and bruised past. Rosaline is book smart with lots of trauma to work through.

The steam is very good in this book. Well worth the read!

Note: I received an advance reader copy of this book from #NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

ARC received for review

It was a nice addition to the series. It's always good to add an American to the mix.

"Crying Wolfe" was fun and hot and went so fast! The Goode Girls has been such a good series so far and I am looking forward to more. Would recommend reading this title as part of the series. Even better if you read the Victorian Rebels series first!

The only thing I didn't love was the quick and convenient wrap up - maybe I just wanted more to read about these two.

Recommended for anyone who loves their historical romance with some heat.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing an eARC for review.

Don't get me wrong. I liked this book but as I was listening and things seemed to be wrapping up I couldn't believe this was the end. Is this a novella? It's not presented as one. Their meeting was cute (it included kittens). She was ruined, he had to marry her, etc. Elijah is a foul-mouthed older American miner who struck gold. He traveled to England to recover a stolen treasure. Rosaline is the young lady next door who hides her anxiety and kleptomania. After a lot of steam and insta-love it just.....ended. Every plot point was dropped like it just didn't matter. Book over except for the standard epilogue. No surprises there either. References were made to characters from other books in the series but that didn't affect this story. I enjoyed the way the audiobook was read with dual narration.

This was a fun and lively story. I didn't enjoy it as much as the other Goodr girls stories but it was worth the read.

A beautifully written Historical novella set in Victorian England. It was a well rounded story and very entertaining with some fun moments and some steamy romance scenes. My thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in return for my opinion.

However - I didn't read the ARC. Instead, when I found out that there was an audiobook published in duel narration and one of the narrators was JF Harding - the other is Stella Hunter, (who I haven't heard before), I bought the audio and listened after publication. So, my thanks go to the author, who announced this on Facebook.

The audio-book was fabulous! It's very rare that Historicals have duel narration in the first place and even more rare that each narrator actually voices their own dialogue throughout. 5 stars for them as they animated what was an excellent story and brought it to life. If I had been reading, I probably would have given it 4 stars.

If you can, listen to this novella, rather than read, you'll be thoroughly caught up in the story. Loved JF's take on the 'rough around the edges' Elijah. He also voiced the other male characters with their English accents - not too badly, either. Stella was excellent as well and brought Rosaline to life. Left me with a smile on my face, as they acted the parts so well.

This was a rare miss for me, as I usually love work by this author. It pretty much felt like just insta-lust. Forced/rushed wedding for unconvincing reasons (neither seemed very opposed though even though they met about 90 seconds earlier). Neither the characters themselves or their relationship felt very developed. Rosaline's "secret" didn't feel like a very big deal, but that secret hung over the whole book and cast a cloud that made me dread what would happen when it was discovered. Eli felt a little too rough and crude. I mean, he's an American in the 19th century, not a caveman. This just ended up being a very quick and forgettable read for me. That being said... I'll still read the next installment in the series and hope for more!

In love the the Goode's. This is a Goode Family novel. If you love a marriage of convenience trope this one is for you! This couple is as different as circles and squares but they find a way to make it all come together. He thought he was chasing a servant but ended up chasing a Goode. So much fun !

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. These are my own personal thoughts

Crying Wolfe was a fast-paced and solid historical romance. Elijah is not too sure about having Rosaline as his wife. He's too rough to have such a young, innocent wife. But he's in for a surprise. Great job!

So Rosaline continue the Goode girls' saga. Because of her mistake, she has to marry a stranger way older than she is. I usually am not the biggest fans of age gap couple, but Ms. Byrne can weave the story so well that both fell in love, and made a good couple together. Alas, the story is quickly wrapped and leave me asking more about the continuation of the story behind Rosaline's difficulty or Eli's way of thinking,

I can’t believe that this series is almost done. I loved every sister and friend from it and I enjoyed their stories so much.
The banter in here is amazing and with the same particular touch of Kerrigan Byrne, it’s beautiful, compelling and steamy.
Lovers of historical romance books will definitely enjoy it as much as I have

All of the books in this series have been oh so emotional in their own way - and this one is no exception. I think I personally feel a kinship with Rosaline that made her tale a bit more poignant for me and Eli is the perfect counterpart for her. I truly enjoyed all of the cameos from the characters in the previous books in the series (as well as a surprise from the Victorian Rebels) and I'm hoping we get two more books for the remaining Goode siblings. I'm only disappointed that the book isn't a bit longer.

4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
