This ais a captivating read for fans of fantasy romance who crave a story that combines ancient mythology, forbidden love, and a dash of the supernatural, with a slow-burning, age-gap romance that will sweep them off their feet.
I’m so sad to say this book was a miss from me. The cover and the blurb and many of the tropes would have all been ticks for me but sadly the putting together of the plot and tropes etc just didn’t do it for me.
2.5
I had EXTREMELY high hopes based on the cover and the title, but for me this book kind of fell short.
The story was a little bit all over in my opinion and while it did have multiple tropes and things that I enjoyed it missed the mark for me.
I have been wanting to read this story for quite some time as it has a good premise given from the description and well... cover - yes, this guy is HOT! I had high hopes for this one, but what I wanted was not exactly delivered, unfortunately.
Kara Valari, is a demon, but we don't know what kind or why she's one to be exact - and this is something that would provide a lot more insight into her. She's also a book girl, but with her surname paparazzi are always following her, waiting for any gossip they can gather. She seems more like your usual girl than a demon or being part of a very famous family. She does not expect to feel anything or any man, especially her professor Maximus Kane... but when you feel such a pull you have to follow right?
Maximus is a person that always knew he was different from others, but he did not know why. He wants to be let alone, but then Kara comes to his lecture... and sparks begin to fall with the accidental touch. He's an adult here, but as in Kara's case, we don't know a lot about him, besides his looks, which is saddening.
This book was not bad, but it got dragged, as it was made for slow-burn, but it was not executed like it should keep my attention all the time while reading. It has quite a few tropes that I love, especially involving mythology, in this red, but it did not work like planned.
I loved everything about this story! Maximus is so intense, so tortured by his past actions. He has a secret and truly doesn't even know it. Kara has a secret too and wishes she could forget it. Her life is mapped out for her and she has no control over her future.
Together they are fire and lightning!
Equal parts loved and posted this book.
It gripped me at the start but I found myself losing interest quite quickly as it ended up feeling very predictable.
The ending seemed rushed, especially for the first book in a series. All of the “maximum doesn’t know his dad” big reveal was so obvious.
I won’t be in a rush to read the rest of the series
Wow. The words have escaped me this time. This book left me wanting more of it. I devoured this book in one sitting (sorry to my fam) and found myself restarting just to experience it again!
Not much really happened in this book. It felt like an entire book of just filler honestly. I didn't like how the big reveal at the end is something that you literally can figure out by the title of the book. It was just pointless and did nothing for the book. I didn't really like the characters and their insta love really bothered me. Overall this book wasn't doing it for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a solid start to the series and I'm eager to see where this series can go. I was hoping that the student/teacher trope would have been developed more though because it is one of my god tier tropes. Overall though, this was a really enjoyable read and I'm glad that I picked it up!
Good read! The subject from which this story emanates from, is one I enjoyed when I was young! (You will find out when you read it!) It is awesome to have it in a modernized romance! The writing is on point, very descriptive so you can visualize. I would recommend this book; and the rest of the series I plan to read!
I enjoyed this intriguing book full of paranormal suspense. The characters are multifaceted and interesting. The worldbuilding is strong and readers will want to learn more. The romance is passionate and caring. I liked the world of academia meets the underworld. I was left wanting more in this series.
I am not going to lie. This book sucked me in. The pull between Maximus and Kara comes through STONG! You know some of the details before the characters do but then, for me at least, it came in to focus and you are still wanting more. More to the story. This book is the beginnings of the story. I can't hardly wait for book two. I was late getting this book and now 4 more of the series are published and I am pretty much slacking off in other areas of life so that I can continue the story.
Netgalley gave me the opportunity to review an ARC for an honest review. This book was great and now I am unproductive at life to finish the books that are out.
Happy reading friends.
Wild and Payne do it again they tell the best stories!! They develop such great characters and have an amazing amount of steamy scenes.
The premise was interesting, but I wanted more from the world building which could have been really cool. The insta love also wasn't for me and some of the interactions gave me the ick. Overall I'm not left with a feeling of hating it, it was a decent read, I just wish it had given me more.
Question to the authors: how do you know what my dreams look like? No but seriously as someone who usually detests everything that has to do with Zeus... this was everything I could've hoped for and more. I am a reader that loves reading anything dark and edgy that mixes romance in it and for me from start to finish this book just worked. I truly cant wait to read what these authors come out with next.
I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I was promised more than I received. The supernatural aspect as well as the worldbuilding fell a little short for me. the instant attraction and awkward (how else to describe it) tension between the love interests was off-putting and exhaustingly repetitive. As much as I love Greek mythology, this wasn’t it for me. The lack of information regarding the supernatural aspect in this book really stood out especially because of how contradictory some things were. The writing was lazy, the withholding of the information wasn’t a plot device but just unnecessary. This book was not bad, but the plot dragged on waay too long. A decent read, not enough to keep me in for the second instalment of the series and also quite predictable.
Thank you Net Galley for the arc. This book had an interesting premise. A half demon woman. Part of a famous family in LA. Has a connection with someone who is equally strange but has no reason. And he's her professor. It's Insta love. It's weird dynamics. I dunno. I didn't like it :/ it had interesting promise but I didn't like the execution.
Blood of Zeus
by Meredith Wild; Angel Payne
Kara is a cursed woman being a demon who’s days are numbered . She’s attending college and there is a chemistry between her and Max kane the dark brooding older college professor. In essence a supernatural romance .
This is not my usual type of book and it was a bit hard going for the first part of the book .
I found this particular book a disappointment on more than one level as I do usually enjoy a supernatural/paranormal novel. I felt this fell short I expectee more than the book delivers for an angel, demons and gods story . The book leaves you on a cliffhanger but I didn’t enjoy the story enough to follow the series if this couple. 2.5/5
Good start to the Blood and Zeus series, Angel and Meredith's story was interesting, it hooked me from the start, I love forbidden romances and this one came with one. It started so strong, now I want to know what comes next. I need so much more information, I enjoyed every chapter but now I need to figure out so many things.
57% and I'm dragging my feet. I've skimmed most of the book already, looking for anything interesting. There's just nothing there. I love a good demon story, this is not one of them. What a train wreck. It's so boring, I just can't read a second longer.
