1st - this is not a western which I hoped to read because of cover and vague description
2nd - this is a contemporary and very moving friendship story of two boys with different fates and the friendship continues while they grow into adults.
Nice book bu not my cup of tea

I suspect this is a book that will appeal to men more than women. It’s a long, sometimes interesting but always strangely cold book. Girlfriends die in horrible circumstances and two characters are incarcerated without any kind of emotional reaction at all.
