The Trapped Ones by Stacy Green is the next book in the Detective Nikki Hunt series and mind you it will take you on a very thrilling ride.
A family is found murdered in a farmhouse surrounded by thick dark woodland. The mother and father are stabbed and the son, a member of the university swim team is battling for his life. A girl is found in their house murdered too. In this scene filled with blood gore and a quote from the holy texts Nikki Hunt and Liam step in to investigate
Curious to find what had happened then pick the story up.
As usual Nikki Hunt and Liam's working partnership is very adorable. The story line is intricate with too many puzzle pieces. Although thevstory moves along with many things happening and many suspects in their list, the surprise I felt at the end was beyond expectations. Along with the story the author has also weavedbin a message of how things when not taken care of immediately may have drastic repercussions. The book is difficult to put down. As usual to help Nikki, the forensics team is right there handing her clues from the evidence.
If you love murder mysteries that are solved only at the very end and if you love stories of very smart FBI agent then definitely this story is for you
I thank Bookouture and Netgalley for approving my request to review the book. The opinions expressed are all mine.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

FBI agent Nikki Hunt returns in the fifth book in the series. A missing college student Jessica is found dead at the home of local collage swimming star Bryce. Bryce's parents were murdered and Bryce is fighting for his life. Nikki and team search for answers.
The Trapped Ones is book 5 in the Nikki Hunt series. Whilst you don't need to read the previous 4, you will get to know Nikki more if you do. While FBI Agent, Nikki is currently fighting for custody of her daughter (her ex husband died tragically and his parents blame Nikki), she is called to help the County Sheriff with a case. She and her work partner Liam, work hard and well together gathering all the information they can. Will they manage to solve the case? You'll find out by reading this exciting fast-paced novel. I was captivated from the first page! Highly recommend
In this book, Nikki is such an integral part of the book that I enjoyed! She has her own custody issues going on as she’s trying to solve this crime!
I’m eager to start at the beginning of the series so I can meet Nikki and learn more about her.
Fast paced and well-written! I didn’t guess some of those twists that #StacyGreen outstandingly revealed!
Thank you, Bookouture, NetGalley and Stacy Green for my copy in exchange for my honest review.
The Trapped Ones is the 5th book in the police procedural series featuring Agent Nikki Hunt. Set in Stillwater, Minnesota, FBI Profiler/ Special Agent Nikki makes a very likeable agent. Nikki came back to Stillwater after twenty years of working away, and I first met her in book one, The Girls in the Snow.
In this instalment, Nikki Hunt helps out temporary County Sheriff, Kent Miller when four victims are found at a remote farmhouse. One person is just managing to cling to his life, but the others are dead.
This compelling and engaging story hots up with alacrity. The characters are very well portrayed and protagonist Nikki has been developed wonderfully. Nikki is resourceful, intelligent and complex and there is a lot going on in her personal life. The Trapped Ones is extremely compulsive with plenty of action, reveals and plot twists. Stacy Green's writing is a good fit for me and I was glued to the pages as I was desperate to know the outcome of the story. As the tension snowballed in this edge-of-your-seat read, the story bounded towards the resolution, culminating in a great finale. Going forward, I’m very keen to read more in this exciting series. A very highly recommended crime-thriller.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
Must read series!
The Trapped Ones is #5 in the Nikki Hunt series. This series just seems to get better and better. Stacy Green writes a fast paced, intriguing and suspenseful story that you cannot help but want to keep on reading.
Talk about secrets and lies! There are so many secrets and lies in The Trapped Ones it will make your head spin!
Nikki and her team are called in to help out Sheriff Miller with a triple murder and one victim in critical condition. Nikki finds that nothing is making sense about the murders.
The twist at the end took me by surprise.
Stacy Green is one of my favorite mystery/thriller authors.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and author, Stacy Green, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the fifth book in the series and each one keeps getting better. In this case, Nikki is called to assist in a multiple homicide that doesn't make sense. She gets help from the local police along with her team. When digging deeper into the victims they discover even more secrets.
This story has many twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this series! Thank you to NetGalley and Ms. Green for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Nikki Hunt's latest case is almost too much to bear. As a Special Agent with the FBI, Nikki pretty much has seen it all. But this latest crime scene is a brutal slaying of four people, with three of them dead. It seems that someone wanted the entire family dead, but one of the victims is not related. The surviving victim might hold the answers Nikki needs to find the killer'
Identifying the young woman found dead at the seen is only the first of many clues Nikki must unearth in order to find the person responsible. Since the girl found at the scene was a local student, Nikki goes to the college to interview other students. Things are slowly coming together but not before two more young people go missing.
While Nikki is navigating this difficult case, she has a personal battle on her hands. Her ex in-laws are planning to sue for custody of Nikki's five-year-old daughter Lacey. While it is true that the difficult cases Nikki handles take her away from Lacey at times, Nikki makes sure that she is well cared for and is well adjusted.
As in previous books in this thrilling series, Nikki must strike a fine balance between her professional and personal life, and she definitely proves more than adept in just about any situation.
I have read this series from the beginning, and Nikki has endured quite a bit. So much, in fact, that this is a series that should be read in order, as there is a lot of back story that avid readers of this genre might miss otherwise. Stacy Green has written another stunning book in an amazing series. This book, like all of the previous books in the Nikki Hunt series, have exciting premises, rapid pacing, shocking twists and turns, and always end with a thrilling climax. I await the next installment with eager anticipation.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

If you are not reading this series, do you even like books? Thrillers? Amazing group of characters? A series that gets better with each book?
This book delivers!
Nikki is called to a gruesome crime scene. Husband and wife, parents to Bryce, are found brutally murdered. Bryce is barely hanging on. A local missing woman is found at the scene, tied hands.
Nikki learns Jessica had been dating Bryce.
A woman dating a friend of Bryce runs for her life - is there a connection?
Deep secrets. #suspense. Fast paced.
Highly recommend.

The Trapped Ones by Stacy Green is the fifth in the FBI Agent Nikki Hunt series.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Nikki Hunt is an FBI Agent whose parents were murdered when she was young. She helped put away Mark Todd for their murder, but 20 years later, discovered he was innocent, and fought for his release. She is now dating Rory, Mark's younger brother. Family dynamics are awkward. She has a young daughter (Lacey), and her ex-husband (Tyler) was recently murdered. Nikki heads the BAU unit based out of St. Paul Minnesota. Her team consists of Crime Scene Analyst Courtney Hart and Agent Liam Wilson. Her boss is Victor Hernandez.
Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Nikki is called to the scene of a multiple homicide at a rather secluded farmhouse. A man and his wife were fatally stabbed as well as a young girl. The son, Bryce, is fighting for his life.
The girl was quickly identified as missing Jessica Chandler. Bryce and Jessica attended the same university. At first, Nikki thought they were a couple, but it turns out they have history, and it may not have been pleasant. Bryce was an Olympic hopeful on the swim team, and he and his buddy Gavin got away with a lot of stuff. But when Gavin and his girlfriend Ella go missing, it just adds confusion to an already strange case.
On a side note, Tyler's parents are trying to get custody of Lacey, citing Nikki's job as one of the reasons making her an unfit parent.
My Opinions:
First, a couple of things I didn't like. Not sure what the cover had to do with the book? The custody battle -- I don't like this in any book, and I'm not sure it was explained how Nikki felt that she'd been cold to Tyler's parents. Brenner -- anyone who has read a crime novel seems to know more than this rookie. As well, Nikki seemed to play her own "name recognition", a little much, to the point where she sounded arrogant and egotistical.
So, although I still like Nikki, I now have some reservations. I still really like Liam, Courtney, and Victor. In addition, it was interesting to find out a little more about Melissa Blanchard (the Medical Examiner).
The book is basically about a privileged frat boy, about domestic violence, rape, and murder. It is also about revenge.
This one started out slow, but by about 1/2 way through, I was very interested. Normally that is way too long for me, but because it ended up being really good, I'm glad I stuck with it (mind you, I stick with everything, so....) The plot continued to hold my attention, and the big twist was good.
Three folks murdered, seriously injured is another,
Nikki Hunt is called out to see what she can discover.
An isolated farmhouse surrounded by a wood
Who disturbed the peace in the worst way they could?
A missing student, a message, is it a serial killer?
You'll need to read for yourself this great crime thriller.
College students, secrets, family dramas, too
Lots of discoveries to make before this story is through.
A gripping crime thriller with plenty of twists
Another page turner that shouldn't be missed.
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
Such an intriguing thriller and this is my honest review.
Other posts coming. I"m part of a blog tour and can't post to my sights yet...
This is book 5 in a series about FBI Detective Nikki Hunt. Each book is great and I would advise reading each one even though they can be read as a standalone. You get more background info about Nikki and all the things she has done and been through in each book.
This book starts out strong and will not let up until the end. A family of three are attacked in their home with two dead and one in intensive care. Also a young woman is dead in this residence. Why were these people murdered? Did the survivor do it or a total stranger? Could it have something to do with the young woman who was murdered with them? So many ifs but you can bet they best detectives are on the job.
This book deals with a family who was slaughtered. A young man left for dead and a young woman murdered in the same home. It deals with things that go on in frat houses on University campus's. It deals with rape, but not in detail. But it's there. It deals with revenge. Murder. Abusive relationships. Mental illness. There is a lot going on in this book but it's easy to follow. You will have so many guesses but my opinion is you won't figure this one out. I was in total shock. It threw me for a loop. It was great though. One that made me gasp out loud.
Nikki Hunt is on the case and at a loss trying to figure out who did this and why. She's also dealing with her ex inlaws who are taking her to court over her child. Things in the last book took a horrible turn and left them blaming Nikki. Nikki is a great detective who loves her daughter more than life. She has a good life after all she has been through and doesn't need this. If anyone can figure out what happened in the home of the slain family she can. All will come to a big breath holding climax that you won't see coming. It will be clear why though. Every question you have will be answered. No cliffhangers here.
I can't wait for the next Nikki Hunt book. She takes you inside each case where you become involved with the good and bad. You feel what she feels and see things that she sees. From each detail you will have many guesses and also a lot of breath holding. Edge of your seat great. I believe this is my favorite of this series. Of course I think I say that with each one...
Thank you #NetGalley, #StacyGreen, #Bookouture for this ARC. This is my own true feelings about this book.
5/5 huge stars and a very high recommendation.
Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the fifth book in the Nikki Hunt series but could be read as a standalone. I would highly recommend the first four books though if you haven’t read them.
This case is extremely perplexing. A mother and father are found dead, their son severely injured and a third unrelated female is also found dead at the scene. There are so many questions and the entire scene just does not make sense. As Nikki and her team unravelled this case it gave me more and more questions. I was desperate to see how this one played out and was shocked and saddened when the truth came out.
I liked seeing the character development for Nikki. She has grown since book one and while she still has had a hell of a past it is nice to see her happy with Rory and to have some sort of truce with his parents.
This book really showed some of the consequences of privileged men. Whether that be from wealth or being the star sportsman. This is something that we shouldn’t be allowing in our society yet we all know it has and likely is still happening.
An excellent addition to a fantastic, gripping series.
Oh Wow !! A creepy thriller that is so frighteningly believable that you won't soon forget ! A must read ! I highly recommend ! Opinions are solely my own !
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book ! #Netgalley #Bookouture #TheTrappedOnes
“Please, help,” she whispered.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a scene of a murder at a farmhouse near the woods. Inside are four victims. One is clinging to life. The others are dead. A man and woman have been stabbed, while their son, Bryce fights for his life. A young woman has been bound and thrown over the landing. Nikki has seen a lot in her time, but this crime scene throws her a little. She is still raw and dealing from PTSD from almost being drowned in another book.
Soon, this case takes on a life of its own, and there are those with dark, devious, and sinister secrets.
This was another enticing and gripping installment in the Nikki Hunt series. Although we do learn of some struggles Nikki is facing in her personal life, the emphasis is more on the investigation in this book and less on Nikki's private life. I'm hoping to see a little more of her work/life balance in the next book!
Stacy Green never disappoints, and I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!!! This series is still in the beginning phases, so it is an easy one to jump into. I suggest starting at the beginning, you will not be disappointed!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
A suspenseful and fast-paced thriller, The Trapped Ones is another gripping instalment in an always-impressive detective franchise.
Stacy Green is firing out these instalments! She seems to be non-stop writing, and you can really tell as these instalments flow so well into one another. Green always does a fantastic job of making her books work as standalone thrillers while also giving a brief round-up of previous events.
This story definitely felt less personal than the previous two books have been, but it felt right for Hunt to get fully back into a new case after her previous emotional experiences, while there's just enough of her personal life being developed around her to keep her feeling very authentic and compelling.
As the fifth instalment, I've really grown to like these characters so I'm always excited to see more from them. And this case is another great one. It's tense, unpredictable, and also explores some very important topics.
The end was slightly rushed for me, but other than that, this was another exhilarating instalment and I'm still eager for more!
An Absolute Page Turner!
WOW! Stacy Green does it again! I was engrossed from the very first page until the very last. The unpredictable twists and turns in this fast-moving thriller make it a hard to put down read. I highly recommend The Trapped Ones, as well as the entire Nicki Hunt series. *****5 Stars *****
Nikki and Liam are investigating a triple homicide while she’s dealing with a custody battle with her former in laws. This case is terrifying and reckless, Nikki is pulled in many directions. Suspects go missing, pieces are jumbled and the victims might not be so innocent. Nikki never fails to impress with how fast she puts it all together, her amazing team is one of the best. Nikki’s personal story continues throughout the series and a new crime needs solving with each book. A reader could pick up a book randomly in the series but to understand Nikki it’s best to start with the first. I’ve received my copy through Netgalley and written my review voluntarily.
Nikki and Liam have a twisted mystery to solve. Nikki has her ex in-laws to contend with. And Rory isn't quite himself yet. Top it off with Lacey worrying whenever she leaves.
The pacing is fast and I read it in one sitting. I was constantly guessing. There were several excellent twists. I was so far off the big reveal and I loved it! This is one of my must read series.
Yes yes yes! Another fantastic addition to the Nikki Hunt series.
Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.
