Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I have liked all the previous Nikki Hunt books and must confess this was the best yet. Great storyline, great characters and will have you guessing until the end
I love this authors writing style how it starts off with three dead and one survivor so no waiting to jump into great story. Now you back track to figure out what lead up to these brutal murders. I thought I knew where this was heading but I was way off,
I love Nikki Hunt!!! Stacy Green has written such a fantastic, yet realistic, heroine. Nikki is called to a murder of a married couple - and their son is fighting for his life... complicating the scene is a young girl who was reported missing over a week ago - also dead. Ms Green has created one of the best supporting casts around with Liam, Rory, Lacy, and more! It's interesting how she shows Nikki trying to balance her passion and commitment to her job with that of her personal life. As Nikki digs deeper into this complex mystery, she learns the son may not be who he seems to be and that throws the entire investigation for a loop. The Trapped Ones will keep you up well past bedtime... Thank you to Bookouture for an ARC of this book.
The Trapped Ones (Nikki Hunt Book 5) by Stacy Green was only three stars for me. The characters were just okay, and I really couldn't connect with them to get invested in the story. I have read other books by Stacy Green and enjoyed them, but for some reason, this story did not hold my interest as much as her other books. I will read more by this author, however.

I so love this series. Jessica is reported missing buy her parents she visited them but never showed up at her campus. Nikki gets a phone call from Kent Miller he has a a tripple homicide and he needs her help. Nikki and Liam go to the house. three people are died Bryce is just still alive his parents are died and the girl reported missing Jessica and she the third is dead to why was she there. Nikki has her own problems to her ex husband's parents want custody of her daughter wont say no more but so twisty and so good.
FBI Agent Nikki Hunt gets a call to come help with a triple homicide, and one survivor barely hanging on. Nikki's major crime unit arrive at the bloody scene to help the local police with the horrific crime.
The victims are the Weber family, Mother, Father and son Bryce who is the only surviving member and a 4th victim who is a female that is identified as missing college student Jessica Chandler. She is the one thing that the team doesn't understand why she is there.
When you start a book like this with violent murders you kind of have an impression about what happened. But in this case by the final reveal it was not what I was thinking at all.
Along with trying to solve the homicides, Nikki is also having to fight to keep custody of her daughter from her in-laws.
Another strong addition to the series.

Nikki and her partner Liam get in a tight spot with this twisty and confusing case.
FBI Agents Nikki Hunt and Liam attend the scene of a horrific triple homicide. Another victim has been rushed to the hospital with life-threatening wounds. One of the dead is a young woman who disappeared two days earlier. What is going on?
With the aid of newly minted city detective Brenner, Nikki, Liam and the team set about to investigate. They are led to a sophisticated fraternity house where they meet several young men who claim to know nothing. There is also a previous graduate there. His presence is a little suspicious.
With the surviving victim in a coma, the case moves on. Connections are made. Secrets are uncovered. Examined photographs lead to clues.
When the deceased young woman's friends tell Nikki that she did not like the young man in the coma, Nikki wonders what she was doing in his house. Worse still, why was she wearing his clothes?
Two people go missing. What connection do they have with the murders?
In a nail-biting denouement, Nikki puts it all together. Will she get out of this one alive? Where is Liam?
This book is well written and plotted. It held my interest throughout. I liked Nikki and Liam and the team. They work well together. I also like that while Nikki has problems, she doesn’t let it affect her job. Well done, Ms. Green.
I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for forwarding to me a copy of this good book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are solely my own.
Nikki Hunt is back with another case!
Nikki was called to a case when four people were found brutally murdered in the farmhouse cabin--a man and a woman, a girl and a boy, the only survivor of the massacre who is fighting for his life. Nikki Hunt thinks the girl, Jessica and the boy Bryce are a couple and that there must be a love triangle involved in their relationship. Bryce was also training to be an Olympic swimmer. But soon Nikki discovers its more sinister than she really thought.
Honestly, this is the fifth book of the Nikki Hun series and I didn't find this book as interesting as her previous books. It was OK, there were twists and turns and the story got more interesting towards the end actually. The ending was somewhat unexpected but overall, this was a good thriller but compared to her other thrillers, this was OK.
Overall, this is a good thriller that will keep you on the edge--worth four stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
The Trapped Ones, book five in the fabulous Nikki Hunt series is an utterly compelling read. That sees Nikki called to a crime scene that even stalwart Sheriff Miller has trouble stomaching and with 3 dead and 1 critical and nothing making sense, Nikki and her team have their work cut out, and when the investigation uncovers disturbing allegations the case only gets more troubling. And with a killer I didn't see coming and a confrontation that leaves one team member fighting for their life this was a story I couldn't put down and one I'd 100% recommend to others.
Nikki is back! Although this series is one of my favorites I was a bit disappointed in this book. I felt like it was slow compared to other books in this series. Nikki is on the hunt to find out what happened the night Bryce is injured and his parents are dead. Why is there a missing girl found dead at the house.? The storyline was great . I love Nikki, Liam and Rory.. Really my only negative comment is it was slow but it is definitely worth reading because this series is so good!
The Trapped Ones is a fast-paced crime thriller with a strong protagonist. There's nothing worse than being able to figure out the ending of a thriller, and this one kept me guessing.
This was a brilliant read as usual , I don't know if it was just me but it seemed shorter than usual , that could of course be that I just read it too quickly .
Nikki is called to the scene of a triple homicide , 3 dead bodies and a young university student fighting for his life .
We soon find that Bryce the young man certainly wasn't squeaky clean and had un proven abuse allegations , one of them from Jessica who just happens to be one of the victims .
I really love the insight into Nikki and her team , their dynamics work so well and you are always rooting for them
Another excellent read
The young woman runs through the woods, towards the lights of the farmhouse, her heart pounding, panic gripping her every move. She races as if her life depends on it - it does!
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a farmhouse, to the horrifying scene of four victims - the Weber family - mother (Joan) and father (Dave) have been stabbed, their son Bryce left in a critical condition, and the body of a young woman, hands bound, is lying dead near the front door.
The young woman turns out to be missing student Jessica Chandler, but what was she doing at the Weber’s, why were her hands bound, and who on earth has carried out this terrible attack?
One thing’s for sure, Agent Hunt lives up to her name, and pursues many trails and deceitful characters to find the perpetrator.
Filled with intrigue and suspense, and some surprising twists, this is a fast paced crime thriller - and I never could have guessed the outcome! Recommended.
Stacey Green serves up yet another thrilling instalment to the Nikki Hunt series.
I don’t know what it is about Stacey Green’s writing, but her books are always such easy reading. I find that I’m drawn in instantly and I just devour her novels almost in one sitting! This one, however, took me a couple of sittings as ‘life’ and ‘work’ just keeps getting in the way.
If you’ve not read the Nikki Hunt series before. This book is probably as good as the first for a starting point. The previous books all came to a summary and there were some dramatic changes to Nikki’s life. So I’m effect you’re meeting a whole new Nikki as she navigates her new world whilst solving crime.
Compared with the previous novels there’s a lot less focus on Nikki’s home life, in particular her boyfriend Rory and daughter Lacey. Also Nikki’s character really takes a step back in terms of development as we focus purely on the murder/crime scene. I think, given everything that happened prior to this book it would’ve been better had we spent more time with her as a character in her own right because we don’t really know this new Nikki Hunt.
The crime itself is pretty unusual and raises a lot of questions as to who, how and why. Unlike Stacey’s previous books this particular crime is mostly solved through interviews and less through medical, technical and forensic procedures. So from that point of view this story is probably my least favourite of the series as I love learning all about how evidence is processed and analysed.
That said, this story is very fast paced and very entertaining. It certainly kept me guessing for awhile as to the why’s. The opening chapter, as always is incredibly tense and frightening.
Really looking forward to more from this series and as ever I will be quick to apply once they are posted. Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is the fifth book in the Nikki Hunt series. Nikki is a Special Agent with the FBI in Minnesota. She has been called to a crime scene in Stillwater by Sheriff Kent Miller with whom she has worked before. This scene is quite shocking and Miller knows he needs all the help he can get. Joan and Dave Weber have been brutally murdered. Their son, Bryce, a college senior and swimming champion, has been left for dead and there is a young woman unrelated to the family who looks like she has fallen to her death from the upper floor balcony and has her hands tied.
The scene does not make much sense. The dead girl is eventually identified as Jessica Chandler who had been missing for a few days. What was she doing at the Weber house? Why were her hands tied? Bryce is no help as he is in a medically induced coma.
This is a very convoluted story. At first they think Jessica was Bryce’s girlfriend but after speaking to her friends a different story starts to emerge - which makes it even stranger that she at the Weber house. Potential suspect names are bandied about but no one can come up with a plausible scenario for what happened at the house.
Bit by bit various secrets are exposed and the Weber family is not looking so innocent anymore! Then there is the strange attitude of Bryce’s friend Gavin. Could he have something to do with the murders? He certainly seems shifty enough. But when Gavin and his girlfriend, Ella, also disappear all bets are suddenly off. The actual truth is shocking but not entirely surprising.
This story illustrates the dangers of pushing young men to perform beyond their comfort level and of protecting them from the consequences of appalling behaviour leading to a sense of undeserved entitlement. Many lives were ruined in the story. The pace was jaunty and the ending very tense indeed. This a very enjoyable series and this particular book was a great read. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.
Stacy Green has written her fifth Nikki Hunt book already! Time flies when you’re having fun, and time really flew as I read The Trapped Ones! FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called to the scene of a triple murder by Washington County sheriff Kent Miller. The deceased are the residents, who are identified as the parents of a seriously injured college-aged male victim. Also dead is a college-aged female. It is uncertain what relationship she is to anyone in the home, although we see someone in the prologue whom we assume to be her. She appears to be fleeing someone, and she may be injured. Has she run into danger instead of finding safety? The crime scene is complex. Was this a random killing? It doesn’t look like robbery. The press will scream “serial murderer,” but Nikki isn’t sure that’s what this is either.
Nikki, her partner Liam, and their technician Courtney have an abundance of evidence to sort through. The survivor, Bryce Weber, is in a medically induced coma. He’s a star swimmer at the University of Minnesota and a member of a fraternity, so Nikki and Liam begin their quest for answers at the frat house. Naturally, they also delve into the young woman, Jessica’s life, talk to her college friends and her family, as well as Weber family. What they find seems to raise more questions and more possibilities.
With a Minneapolis detective assisting with her first murder investigation, Nikki uncovers some disturbing information about the victim and one of his friends, putting them at the top of the list. But does everything fit? As is often the case, Nikki is spending so much time and energy working that she has little time to spend with her young daughter. Now, her late ex-husband’s parents are taking her to court for custody of Lacey. She’s scared to death that she will lose her.
When a sudden development causes Nikki to view the case from a different perspective, the situation becomes critical. Can you say TWIST? I should have had an inkling, but I was so engrossed in the story that I was caught off guard.
A word of caution: This book deals with emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of women.
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutoure, and the author for the a digital copy of The Trapped Ones in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

Wow , this one will have you sitting on the edge of your set, all the while biting your nails as you try to figure out who's telling the truth, what really happened, and who was the intended victim or victims. Plus the author does an amazing job on the topic of this story. Because its part of a series , so you can either read it as such or read it as a standalone. With each book the characters become more real and you see their personality come to life. Another thing I love about this series is how so much Nikki and her team feels like a family , because of how they have each other's backs. So if your looking for a book or a new series to start that's a fast-paced crime thriller with a strong protagonist and engaging characters, with lots of twists and turns , that will keep you on your toes though out the book ,as well as given you a satisfying conclusion then this might be for you .
Special Agent Nikki Hunt and her team are called by Sheriff Miller to the scene of a triple
Homicide. As always in Nikki’s world there is more to the case than meets the eye. This is the 5th book in the Nikki Hunt series and it’s another mystery. While on a race against time to find a killer, Nikki is still dealing with the aftermath of her ex-husbands death and what that means for her and Lacey. I love this series’s and will most definitely be on the lookout for Nikki’s next adventure.
Stacy Green delivers yet again on a strong mystery!
The recipe for a good mystery? Not being able to pick what happened until it all starts to be unraveled and shared and you suddenly fit all the pieces together. This book has that in spades!
In book 5, Nikki Hunt is asked to a scene that leaves you with so many questions about what on earth could have happened here. At the same time, she is battling to ensure she has time with her daughter as she fights to keep custody. As you near the end of the book, and realize there are still questions you have, lose ends, they are all wrapped up nicely in a quick summary. I find myself sitting on the fence for that style of wrap up to a story, do I want more, do I wish I had the next book to pick up straight away for more on what is next in Nikki's life.... going with a very solid 4.5 stars on this one.
If you have not read any books in this series, it is best read in order, particularly the first 3 books, however, I think if you wanted to jump in with book 5 you can enjoy it without having read the previous books, and importantly, not give too many spoilers for the previous books if you decided to back and start at book 1.
I was so excited to read the fifth book in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. This is a thriller that grabs you from the first chapter to the last. With each book we find out a little more about Nikki her family, friends and co-workers and this series just keeps getting better. This book kept me guessing and the twists were great. Thanks to Netgalley for my arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
