I received an audiobook copy early to review.
This is the 14th Cupcake Bakery Mystery. Kudos to Jenn McKinlay for keeping this series fresh for 14 books. I love visiting Old Town and the Fairytale Cupcake gang. Angie and Tate's daughter steals the show with her babbling and antics. Mel and Joe are a darling couple married at the end of book 13. Joe flexes his protective instincts in this new book.
Late one night someone shoots at Mel, but the motive is unclear. More shootings and violence occurs in Old Town. Despite gaining a whole posse of protective DeLauras, Mel tries to figure out what is happening in her close knit community.
This story has many twists and turns, and the answer to this mystery was really interesting along with being complex.
The narrator did a great job of telling the story and expressing the emotion.
I happily recommend Strawberried Alive.

Strawberried Alive is the 14th book in the wonderful Cupcake Bakery Mystery series by Jenn McKinlay.. Melanie (Mel), Angie and Tate own Fairy Tale Cupcakes Mel and Joe are married and Angie and Tate have a daughter. The bakery is busy and everything is going well until Mel gets shot at. Then other members of the business group in town are targeted. All of the characters help solve the mystery and Uncle Stan, Marty, Oz, and Joe’s brothers all add humor. The family and friendship between the characters are what makes this series so awesome! The mystery was interesting and kept me guessing until the end. A very
enjoyable cozy mystery and the series is awesome! #NetGalley DreamscapeMedia #StrawberriedAlive #RyderRevisited #JennMcKinlay

Strawberried Alive written by Jenn McKinlay and narrated by Susan Boyce is the 14th in the Cupcake Bakery series. Life was going well at Fairy Tale Cupcakes or so it seemed until Mel was shot at late one night as she was leaving the bakery. When more shop owners are targeted, and some killed, Mel and her friends begin to look more closely into the reasons why.

As always in this series the characters feel like old friends and the mystery is full of twists and turns. This was my first audio book in this series. I truly enjoyed the narration and felt that is brought the characters to life. Suspects abounded in this mystery and the final reveal was worth of Agatha Christie. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance audio copy and all opinions are my own.). I highly recommend trying the audio version of this series.

This one was a delight wrapped up in buttercream! I was almost tempted to start up my KitchenAid and whip up a batch of something but just kept on listening to this one as the story unfolded after someone took a shot at Mel, the baker of cupcakes. Who could do such a thing! As the story starts to unravel there are more and more suspects but who do they really want an end to come to the bakery or is there something more sinister going on? This one was an interesting tale.

I love cozy mysteries and this one does not disappoint! Mel is running a successful cupcake shop in a small town surrounded by other shops from jewelry, pottery, etc. One night Mel locks up late after working on an order that she has to change the fondant. As she is locking up someone attempts to shoot her, but misses. All of the shops blame her that she is bringing the danger to their town since she married Joe a DA for the town.

Mel turns to her uncle to help investigate, but Mel cannot leave it alone because she starts her own investigation as well to bring order to their small town.

I loved the easy, fun read that is needed after some of the heavy mystery/ thrillers that I do read.

Thank you #NetGalley for the advanced copy to give my unbiased review!

This book is a solid 3.5 stars and will continue with the series in the future. This was perfectly what I like about a cozy mystery. The mystery aspect of it was very well develop and so were the characters. The vibes of the small community was also there. The authors writing is engaging, will for sure keep you entertained.

At Fairy Tale Cupcakes, the honeymoon is over, literally, when newlywed Mel, is nearly shot. She and new hubby, Joe, aren’t the only business owners subject to violence, and fear grows in their small community, as locals wonder if they may be the next victims. A sweet and charming cozy mystery

I love this series! This is book 14 and it is such an easy cozy to fall into and just get lost. The characters are likable, the dialogue is believable and the storyline is entertaining in every single book. I highly recommend listening to the audiobooks as the narrator is amazing and brings already great stories to another level with her voice!

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to review this audiobook.

This was a great book, but the series is starting to drone on and on. I have read all the titles, up to this one and new characters come and go which I really appreciate.

The characters are well-developed and this is just a quick and easy cozy-mystery. What I enjoy the most is the fact that rarely there is any language that is offensive and once you have learned the characters you can fly through one of these in no time.

Great book for someone who is looking for a fun and relaxing series with a hint of murder.

This is the first book I've read in McKinlay's Cupcake Bakery Mystery series, but I had no problem jumping in at book fourteen! I was introduced to baker Mel and her DA husband Joe right as Mel is getting shot at behind her bakeshop, Fairy Tale Cupcakes. When more business owners in the area are attacked--with some ending up dead--Mel is determined to find out what's going on.

I just love Jenn McKinlay's writing style for cozies. She really jumps into the story and doesn't dilly-dally with unnecessary details or backstory. You get what you need and nothing more--all excitement and no fluff. With likable characters, a dash of romance, and a creative mystery that makes you think, what more could you ask for?

I think the length of Jenn McKinlay's cozies makes them perfect for audiobook--who doesn't want a quick 6-7 hour listen? Whereas they're a bit short to be read on paper/ebook as a full-length novel. McKinlay's series have some great narrators, and while this one was okay, she wasn't my favorite; she sounds a bit old for the character and has a staccato way of speaking I found slightly aggravating. But could definitely be worse, and did not detract from the book too much.

Thanks to Berkley for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 stars - 8/10

This is my favorite Cozy mystery series! This book did not disappoint. I liked the new take on the murder aspect of this book. It almost felt as if i was watching a TV show. Of course we had all of our favorite characters and some good humor sprinkled in when possible.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen to this book early.

This is one of my favorite series because I love the way that it has evolved since the beginning. Each mystery is a standalone but the ongoing story revolving around Mel and her friends has grown and gotten a little darker since this one starts out with someone trying to kill Mel. This story kept me involved and guessing at the murderer until the very end. I could not put this one down.

Mel is the baker at Fairy Tale Cupcakes. Someone tries to shot at her but missed. I liked this audio, the narrator was soothing to me and it's a food cozy mystery, BONUS. I liked all the characters, especially Mel. It kinda reminds me of the Hannah Swenson mysteries by Joanne Fluke, and I love those books. Ok I just love food cozies, and if they have recipes, it's great. This book had no recipes. Seeing as this book is number 14 in the series, I am now gonna have to listen to the previous books. I just love finding new to me authors. Very recommended for the people who love culinary cozies.

Jenn McKinlay continues her Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series with an excellent book, Strawberried Alive. In this installment of the series, Joe and Mel are settling in to married life but soon finds their happiness threatened when Mel is shot at while closing the bakery late one night. Fortunately, Oz comes to her rescue and chases the shooter away. He doesn't catch the shooter but does get a decent description of their vehicle. Theories soon fly regarding the reasons for the shooting ranging from random to someone wanting revenge on either Joe or Mel for past cases. As a result, several of the local businesses start lobbying for the bakery to close its doors permanently. As the story progresses, the body count begins to pile up and it soon becomes clear that Mel was not the original target of the shooter.

I have enjoyed reading this author's entire repertoire of cozy mysteries and look forward to new installments in each of her series as she always does an excellent job of developing new characters and keeping the older ones very consistent from story to story. The narrator for this audiobook performed at a good rate both for clarity and plot purposes and did an excellent job of creating definitive voices for each of the characters as well as distinguishing a separate voice for the connective narration. This enables the listener to be able to follow the storyline with all its twists and revelations without having to go back to listen to sections over again.

I received a copy of this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love all of the cozy mystery series by Jenn Mckinlay. The bakery series is so much fun and I had a great time re-visiting the characters and trying to solve the mystery. This can be read as a standalone. I would highly recommend the audiobook.
