This book was so adorable. I loved the characters and their journey to America. Another thing I loved was the plot of Marcus and his wife. I highly recommend this book
Thanks to Netgalley for the copy!
This book is unexpectedly good! This is the first book I've read on the series. It started off well as Gibb and Isabella met *chef's kiss* Their voyage to America where feelings, rather forbidden, developed. I love that there's obviously a lot of research from the adventures, destinations, Roman history, down to the Latin from the tablets translated. As the chapter goes, I too, was very eager to find out about Marcus! The story picks up, somewhat, in the middle. While we are all rooting for the hero and heroine, I was rather upset for Mr. Schuyler. Anyway, things led to another. Honestly, the turn of events are delighful. The last chapters were good, 1. But I feel it's a bit shortcut especially the last chapter which I am all for. It's like done because there's the book due haha but it's still lovely 2. Some texts definitely misspelled which led to a little bit confusion 3. Might as well go and read the whole series :)
Amy Jarecki has a way of writing that absolutely fires your imagination and through her words, you can picture everything in your mind as it happens.
This was such an exciting story to read, full of romance, action, danger and even a treasure hunt! I loved the idea of the Roman tablets and how Isabella and Gibb worked to put all the pieces together so they could read the personal letters written by a Roman gladiator to his wife. It just added so much to the story!!
I dare say Gibb is my new book boyfriend....swoon!! Loved his character, as well as Isabella's. If anyone deserves to be together, it's these two.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
