Princess Fuzzypants here: I am usually a sucker for stories of animals and the humans who love them. There were a bunch of wonderful stories, many of them involved kitties but there were also dogs and horses in vast numbers. The stories involved how the animals and the humans communicated and how, through the animal, the humans learned important life lessons. The stories were enormously moving.

That is why I cannot tell you why I did not find myself with leaky eyes, as I so often do when reading similar tales. For some reason, they failed to grab me as effectively as they usually do. I cannot say it was the authors or the stories they told. All I can say is I was less moved than I have been before and expect to be again. For that reason and that reason alone, I am giving the book four purrs and one paw up. Good but not great.
