A keeper for me! This story made me cry 10% in. From there on out, I knew this author was going to tug me along for the ride of a fabulous story. Ronan de Wolfe, an exceptional knight will just burrow himself into your heart. You will come to feel deeply for the man and his plight. Isabeth has been taken care of at first by her father and then by her husband. Tragedy brings these two lives together, but so many obstacles are ever present. Sometimes obstacles can be to hard to overcome
I am new to this series, so I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised & may have found a new series to read. I thought it was well written, with interesting characters but a fairly predictable plot. I think the predictableness of the plot made the read a little more interesting (normally I shut the book when it becomes predictable). I did feel a little lost at times, I think if you read this series, it will solve that problem.
Kathryn Le Veque gave a different twist to this de Wolfe story. Young Ronan de Wolfe marries very young, but not for love, but for an alliance. His wife constantly shamed him by taking lovers, while Ronan continued to keep his vows and said nothing. Then Ronan met the widow of one of his best friends, Isabeth de Brito, and Ronan then realized what it meant "to fall deeply in love with someone."
This amazing romantic story will tug at your heart, as you hope for another de Wolfe HEA.
I enjoyed this fast-paced medieval romance and even though it is part of a larger interconnected series I was able to understand the plot and connect well with the characters. Kathryn Le Veque is a talented author who knows how to keep the reader engaged in the story from beginning to end.

📚I received a copy of this book from the publisher and this is my freely given honest review. 📚
Ronan de Wolfe married young against his family’s wishes, now he’s in a loveless marriage with a high born woman where he remains faithful to his vows, but his wife regularly cheats on him and she’s born three children who are not his. At a tournament his good friend Sir Dyce de Brut is severely injured and he asks Ronan, on his death bed, to take care of his wife. The honorable Ronan take charges of the beautiful widow, Isabeth de Brito. He knew Dyce loved her beyond measure he was several years older than Isabeth, but she never loved him as a husband, she thought of him as an older brother.
She’s pregnant again after three miscarriages and she begins to rely heavily on her good friend Ronan. It’s so sad they have both been in loveless marriages. It’s plain to see they are meant to be together and fate throws them together at a very difficult time in their lives. They both knows after so many years they’ve found his soul mates, their one true love. Isabeth and Ronan grow closer it appears they are destines to remain friends until fate intervenes again. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.
It was well written and can work as a stand alone and didn't feel like a spinoff.
Not the book for me - I don't particularly care for historical romance and then the quasi-cheating plotline just didn't sit well with me.
A Love for All Time
He married the wrong woman, so what was he to do when he fell in love? When his friend was dying, Ronan promised him to take care of his wife, but he did not count on falling in love with her. I wanted Ronan and Isabeth to find a way to be together. However, Ronan was bound by a marriage to a despicable woman who did not keep her vows. Divorce was not easy in medieval times, so how could Isabeth and Ronan find happiness? This story held me captive. It is a medieval romance full of action, romance, and intrigue. It kept me turning the pages. It is one of my favorite de Wolfe stories, and I cannot explain why.
At first, I found it hard to follow the story, but I realized that it was only because I haven't read any other books in this series. Once I managed to understand what I was reading, I really enjoyed the book. I was cheering on Isabeth and I HATED Marian. It was also my first medieval romance, and I really enjoyed myself. I will read more books by Kathryn Le Veque!
Ronan de Wolfe promises to take care of Dyce de Brito's pregnant wife after he is fatality wounded during a jousting tournament. Ronan has been in a loveless marriage for ten years with an faithful wife. He has been faithful, until he falls in love with Dyce's widow Isabeth. Doomed from the start Ronan and Isabeth fall in love and begin an affair, but getting a divorce would cause too much upheaval in the de Wolfe family and strain relations with his wife's family the de Greys. Neither can Ronan keep Isabeth as his mistress. With only one solution arranged by his father, Ronan has no choice but to agree. Heartache and pain for Isbeth and Ronan, until divine intervention. As always Le Veque never disappoints when it comes to keeping you on the edge.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Ronan de Wolfe son of a powerful family found himself married at a young age and regretting his impulsive decision as the years pass laying the groundwork for the story that follows in yet another engaging medieval historical narrative from author Kathryn Le Veque.
Full of the emotion and historical details that have riveted the reader through each successive book, and fulfilling on all levels, Ronan’s story carries the reader into another era with its broad strokes of family, love, desire and the choices made impulsively that lead us ultimately to the path where we truly belong.
Written with expertly crafted prose and mesmerizing characters this is a story that should not be missed and becomes yet another gem in a series of exceptional reads.
An almost heartbreaking story and a journey that will be difficult with many twist and turns.
Love is sometimes found when we least expect it and Ronan de Wolfe had not found it yet. At least not with his unfaithful, miserable wife. One he had married at a young age and regretted it ever since. But he is a de Wolfe and had not dishonored her the way she had him. Even their three children were not his.
Fighting in tournaments, he keeps himself distracted, but unfortunately his friend Bryse ends up getting killed and he promises to look after his wife Isabeth. What was he to do but honor that vow?
A story that pulls at the heartstrings and makes you fall in love with another de Wolfe and only hoping he can find his happiness
The was an excellent, well-written historical romance. It was action-packed, entertaining and held my interest. I wanted to find out what would happen next and didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and this author is a must-read for me. I am always on the lookout for books by this author.
Ronan de Wolfe was always considered a warrior. Fighting the Scots, in the place of his father, at the age of eight, war and family honor have always guided him. Unfortunately, this family honor has led him into a very disastrous marriage.
Lady Isabeth de Brito is the wife of one of Ronan’s friends and a man respected by all. When events at a tournament go very, very wrong, Dyce de Brito requests his friend take Isabeth under his protection. This sets the stage for a very quick and passionate love affair between two people that have not ever known unconditional, consuming love. But as others become aware of the affair, anger begets an evil plan.
The love story between Isabeth and Ronan is a very well written tale of love and sacrifice.
Ronan de Wolfe, son of James de Wolfe, is not an incredibly happy man. He has come into a very miserable marriage with the daughter of the powerful Northumberland de Gray family. As the years go by, marriage is nothing but pathetic; and three young daughters are born into it. That would be fine, but Ronan is not the father of these children. Seems as if his wife loves to shame both great houses and lying with any man that she wishes. Getting pregnant with a child means nothing to her, just part of her game. To compensate, Ronan amuses himself in local tournaments to help get away from his horrendous life. Accompanying him is Sir Dyce de Brito who enjoys going with him to these matches. At this event, Sir Dyce’s wife goes along with them to enjoy the games and spend time with her husband. Isabeth de Brito is enjoying herself until her husband is injured and ends up dying of his wounds. Sir Dyce asks Ronan, on his death bed, to take care of his wife. And the plot thickens. Kathryn Le Veque has given us a fantastic adventure, interesting characters and a great plot that keeps us turning the pages. I also recommend that a box of Kleenex would be handy, too. I really enjoyed reading Ronan’s adventure and will reread it again.
Wolfeshield by Kathryn Le Veque is the sad story of Ronan de Wolfe, the son James, before he was injured in Wales and became Blayth, and the grandson of the Great William. Ronan allowed himself to be seduced by Marian de Grey when he was very young, she reported back to her father, and between him and Blayth they cooked up this scheme to marry the two and forge an alliance. Neither was very happy with this outcome, but marry they did. She continued on her merry way, which was to bed any man who struck her fancy and he, to remain faithful to his vows. This was the first un-de Wolfe like action: Blayth not allowing Ronan to choose his own bride. Ten years later, at a tournament, Ronan's friend, Dyse de Brito is mortally wounded and as he is dying he begs Ronan to take care of his pregnant wife, Isabeth. Ronan is duty bound, but Isabeth is stubborn. Marian is at the tournament and he requests she accompany he and Isabeth back to her home, to bury her husband. She agrees, but ungraciously. Isabeth is stubborn and not wanted him to accompany her, rallies her entourage and leaves without him. Needless to say, he catches up. Upon arriving, Marian is he usual spoiled self, and he ladies mirror that behavior. It is not long before Isabeth has had enough and orders her from the manor. She leaves, not graciously, taking with her her latest lover as part of her guard. Things are not easy, and the fact there are spies in his midst doesn't help. Ronan falls in love with Isabeth and she with him and things moved quickly after that. Ronan's behavior with Isabeth is the second un de Wolfe like behavior.
As always, Le Veque has the reader in her clutches within 20 pages. The descriptions of both marriages are poignant and heartbreaking. Ronan falling in love is beautiful to watch: him being happy for the first time. As always, everything turns out all right, but it is touch and go for a while. Blayth gets involved and almost ruins everything. Marian is pregnant again with the fourth child that is not Ronan's. There is plenty going on and put together it makes a fabulous story, one well worth the read.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Wolfeshield by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #dragonblade #kathrynleveque #wolfeshield
Love or duty, which should determine your future? Most de Wolfe's don't have to choose, but for Ronan, duty was chosen for him and he's lived with the consequences for 10 years. Now, he has a chance at happiness but it could shame him and his entire family. What would you choose, the love of the person placed on earth solely for you to love or to keep an alliance of peace, keep the proud standing of a family who's beyond noble; the name de Wolfe which is synonymous with all things good? And what would you do if you were the woman who has wronged him many times over and may ultimately get her comeuppance?
A truly excellent read that I cannot recommend enough. FABULOUS!
I just reviewed WolfeShield by Kathryn Le Veque. #WolfeShield #NetGalley
I found this novel incredibly sad and would have discredited the state of Ronan's marriage if I had not seen exactly the same scenario in modern times. I felt so sad for Ronan, especially as his marriage was built on political alliances, and breaking them could have been disastrous. As with other books by this author, the plot moves at a fast pace with so much action that one is left with whiplash. However, the gentle love that grows between Ronan and Isabeth is a testament to his loyalty to his slain friend and to Ronan's noble character. Although everything does appear to be lost with no way forward, the novel does come to a very good conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblad Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Ronan de Wolfe is married to an unfaithful and difficult woman, but he remains true to his vows.
He has children from that marriage, but are they really his?
Most of the time he lives to fight and protect his families holding on the border between England and Scotland.
However when attending a joust, tragedy ensues and he takes charge of a beautiful young widow.
But this causes more problems than he thought it would, and it may be that his life is going to become a lot more difficult before it’s got a chance of being better.
Excellent book from Kathryn, if you haven’t read, Wolfe Among Dragons, you may want to before this, though it’s not necessary.
Such beautiful writing in this , memorable moments with Ronan and his father Blayth/James.
And a very sweet love story too.
Great stuff, wonderful as always.
I am really enjoying this series. I haven’t read any of the original books. Every time I read one of the next generation ones I think I’ll have to read the others. But honestly there’s so many I find it daunting. Although I do have A Wolfe Among Dragons on my list now.
Anyway I digress.
This is another good entertaining read. I felt so sorry for Ronan. Not just because he was married to that dreadful woman. But the fact that his father was content for his son to be unhappy forever. Whereas he himself had found love twice. So yes parts of this made for unsettling reading but Ronan and Isabeth are both amazing and truly deserve each other.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
As a young man Ronan de Wolfe was seduced by a high born woman and forced by her powerful family to marry her. This has proved to be a disaster for him. He is a proud and honourable man who keeps his vows. Unfortunately everyone knows his wife is completely opposite. None of her three daughters belong to him, and she sleeps with any man who takes her fancy.
Our hero tries his best to ignore his wife's behavior, but there will come a time he can't.
Isabeth de Brito married young. Her husband worships the ground she walks on, and she is a grateful and obedient wife. When her husband dies unexpectedly her life changes drastically. Our heroine might have been treated like fragile glass, but she is anything but. Her fire irons occasionally come in handy.
This is a wonderful medieval romance with characters that you will fall in love with easily. You will need the box of tissues handy. Our author has the habit of wringing every drop of emotion out of us be it laughter or tears. This book certainly does that. The de Wolfe family will be very well known to regular readers of this author, but each family member has a very different story, and every book is original, thoroughly entertaining and impossible to put down. You will be very surprised at how this particular love story unfolds.
An absolutely fabulous book.
I loved every page.
