When is cheating not cheating?
Our hero, Ronan, is in a loveless marriage that he impulsively agreed to for the sake of duty. Then everything changes when tragedy strikes, leaving his best friend's pregnant widow, Isabeth, under his protection.
Anyone familiar with this society and its social mores knows exactly what has to happen to facilitate the HEA we know we can count on from this author, but it's the journey that matters more than the destination. The deeply moving story gives us real people trying to balance their own wants and desires with their honor and integrity as well as their obligations to others.
I'm a huge fan of this author's medieval world, so it was pure joy just to settle back in with all the familiar faces for another wonderfully captivating journey. Everything we look for in a de Wolfe story is beautifully rendered here, and I couldn't have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Finally true love but at what cost? It goes to show no matter what century you are in there are still infidelities, only difference it's not as easy as a divorce back then. I must say his wife is trully evil. Ronan is the son of Jame (a wolfe among dragons). I enjoyed the beginning of the book when Ronan was fighting, of course his grandfather, William, didn't know he followed, after all he's only a child. There's plenty of action, betrayal, new love, hope and a HEA.
