Sadly I didn't like this book.
From the characters to the plot, everything felt very flat and forgettable.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for sending me a copy in Exchange for my honest opinion

Plot:
The story picks up from where it was left if in the first book. After Neal and Lori doing their due diligence in solving part of the mystery behind his father's death, the next brother Lance takes forward the investigation. The mystery/investigation/crime are all minor part of the romantic story between Lance and his ex-wife. For most part, I did not feel like they were fit for each other. Ruth was safeguarding herself too much and Lance was coming too strong. And when one person is in danger everything goes back to normal.
There's one brother left to formally complete the investigation but am not even invested in anyone or anything anymore.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Ruth and Lance. Ruth and Lance were previously married for four years. They have known each other all their lives. Ruth is a lawyer and Lance is a SEAL. Lance is trying to solve his father’s murder, they know who killed him but not how he died. Ruth has had clients who died the same way as Lance dad. They each have their issues but together they work them out and realizes they still love one another.
I am familiar with this author and always enjoyed her books. This book was a page turner and fast paced. Ruth and Lance have been married, divorced and out of each other’s life for years. When Lance’s dad died, they hook up which leads to her getting pregnant. She is lawyer who life is threaten and Lance is there to protect her and the baby. It had good characters and friends who are there for you. I like the back-and-forth chemistry of the H&H. They have lots of issues to work thru. The story was good and will keep you entertained. I would recommend this to other people because this author is good and worth getting to know.
**I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
This was a great second chance romance filled with drama, intrigue, and suspense. It is the second book of the Ward Investigation series. Lance and Ruth were once married, but physical and emotional distance caused them to separate and divorce. Now years later, Lance is home for his dad's funeral and he runs into Ruth, who he has never stopped loving. In the first book we learned that Lance's father Gary, was indeed murdered, and Lance stays in town to help with the investigation. Gary died while investigating a case for Ruth who is now a lawyer. Their reunion sparks the old feelings and emotions and they end up spending the night together. After all these years, their chemistry was still just as strong. As the investigation progresses, it seems like Ruth is in danger. Lance will do anything he can to protect her, especially when he finds out she's pregnant. The action and danger will keep you turning the pages as the investigation heats up and Ruth and Lance's relationship heats up right along with it. A great story filled with mystery and excitement - looking forward to the next one!

When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.
Another short and sweet romance by leslie north. I love her military based romances and this was no exception. Looking forward to the next in the series
Disclaimer - I love romantic suspense, but I only read second chance when it's part of a series I'm interested in (like this one). If you do like second chance and romantic suspense, you will probably love this one. I did like the romantic suspense elements, and I'm looking forward to reading more of the series.
This book does end in a good place for Lance and Ruth, though there are some elements of a larger story that will continue with Ryan's book in the series. It
I received a copy of this book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
SEAL’s Pregnant Ex-Wife (Ward Investigation #2) by Leslie North
Publisher: Relay Publishing
Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Romance
Published: March 31, 2022
SEAL’s Pregnant Ex-Wife is the second book in the Ward Investigation trilogy by Leslie North. This can be read as a standalone romance, but is a continuation of the previous book told from different characters.
This is a quick read with a fast paced adventure. I loved the twists and turns. The romance is heartfelt and steamy. I enjoyed watching the investigation progress! I can't wait to read the conclusion!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The ward brothers are all Navy Seals. Lance is based in DC and comes home to see family and digest his father was murdered and the perp has been convicted.
At the funeral he and his ex wife reminisce and that leads to more than just words.
Ruth however was using Lances father as a private investigator on some cases. Will the people who killed his dad come looking for Ruth? Can Lance keep her safe?
Lots of twists.
Can this end happily and will Lance save the people he loves?
Good page turner by Ms North.
This is my honest review of an arc fr9m NetGalley.
This book was pretty good. It is the story of Lance and Ruth. They split up I think it was 20 years previously and were brought back together by the death (murder) of his father. We get to follow along as they try to figure out who killed his father (Ruth had hired the father for a case and that got him killed) and Lance needs to protect Ruth from the killer. There is some suspense in this book, but it isn't heavy with it. In fact, most books I've read, when the h is in peril, the H doesn't leave her side, but they spent a lot of time apart in this book. While it was pretty good, the H was clueless as to why his wife divorced him and kept making the same mistakes over and over. If I were her, I don't know that I would have pursued a relationship with him. I might have just co-parented, as she knew he was going to be a good father. Anyway, this is a solid 4 star read and I do want to read the last book in the series as I feel that brother is more interesting than Lance. Thank you NetGalley for providing an advanced copy for this honest review.
Book 2 is also left with a cliffhanger. Part 3 should be the conclusion. I can't wait!
Ruth is really uncertain about Lance. The only she knows for fact is that she can trust him to keep her safe. I enjoyed reading about their second chance.
I received an advanced reader's copy of SEAL’s Pregnant Ex-Wife (Ward Investigation #2) by Leslie North from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Overall, I felt this was a solid novel and I found it to be well written. The plot was engaging and the pacing moved swiftly. I appreciated how nicely crafted the main characters were, but do wish there had been more of a look back into the childhood friendship/relationship between Lance and Ruth.
This novel was a bit predictable, but was a quick, fun read.
SEAL’s Pregnant Ex-Wife by Leslie North.
Ward Investigation #2
Navy SEAL Lance Ward never thought he’d be in the position of seducing his ex-wife and protecting their unborn child—all while trying to solve his father’s murder. Yet, here he is, thanks to Ruth, the only woman who knows how to get under his skin—and under his clothes—in record time. The only problem is, Ruth has zero interest in getting back together. But he’s not so keen on letting her go a second time.Ruth gave up on a happily ever after a long time ago. She’s not the same naïve young woman she was when she married Lance all those years ago. These days, she’s a successful, hard-hitting lawyer… with a soft spot for a certain SEAL who can make her blood sing—and for their unborn child.
Brilliant read. I love this author. I loved how Lance and Ruth were together. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.
Another awesome book in this series. Love it, can't wait for Ryan's story.
Ruth and Lance married right out of high school, and sadly as they grew up, their worlds grew apart. They divorced 4 years later and have not been a part of each others lives for the last 20 years. That is until the night after Lance's dad's funeral, when things got a little heated.
While continuing the investigation into who killed their father, Lance and Ruth must work close together, as she knows more about the murder than she is saying. And of course there is the whole pregnant from the one night stand thing too!
Great characters, great continuation of the plot, and lots of everything that make this series a must read.
