This is a great book for children. It can help children with sensory overload as well as educate their peers in it. Working in the Sped department myself I feel this would be a great benefit to students and a great introduction for them.

This is a great little book that explains sensory issues that some children may have. Riley is a great character and the illustrations are lovely.

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica Kingsley Publishers for my ARC.

This is a perfect book to read to children over and over again. It will remind them that everyone has different ways of dealing with their environment. The story will also help children take ownership in managing their own behavior. An adorable picture book for the whole family.

While growing up we are taught there are 5 senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. But for some people there are more, and when all these senses get together and are out of balance it can cause a calamity. This book not only teaches about other senses like balance, and introspection, it also teaches ways to deal with sensory overload.

Thank you so much to Jessica Kingsley Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Riley has so many senses going through his mind at once and doesn’t know how to control them or what he can do. With help from a therapist he is taught all about senses and how he can learn to understand what he needs and how to control them. His hopes of managing at the county fair reignite as he finds new ways to cope.

This was absolutely adorable and I really enjoyed it. The topic was such a big one but it was handled, explained and told in such a fun natural way. It was really precious and an enjoyable, sweet book. I also loved that Riley got his chance to go to the fair.

I loved all the characters throughout this book each one was so kind and understanding of Riley even when he got into his tiger moods. They all wanted to help him and they did just that.

With the help of his sweet therapist he is taught so many new things about his senses and which things he liked to do that helped make him feel better and in more control of everything he was going through with his senses.

The illustrations were all really adorable and really big and bold and filled with so much colour, each image stood out perfectly. The images helped to explain each of the methods in a perfect way and was really wonderful.

There was a guide for adults at the end to help them understand in more detail about the senses and what they can do more to help a child that is struggling with sense issues. This book is also a perfect guide for children in understanding themselves and what they can do to help themselves feel better.

I really enjoyed this book and wish this existed when I was younger, it would have helped me understand and learn so much more and find easy ways to deal with the overload of senses. So I highly recommend this book to everyone even if your child doesn’t struggle with sense issues it will give them a way to help a child that does.

Big feelings are hard. As a mom of a toddler, I live this every day. She isn't neurodivergent, but I understand. The book's illustrations don't make a ton of sense. The formatting of the ebook was not great and I wasn't really sure what I was reading.

I cried reading this book. As a mother to neurodivergent kids while also coping with a neurodivergent brain myself, we have learned many skills to enjoy the day to day. I have never seen so much of our work presented simply, yet beautifully, like it was here. I’m blown away.

I found this copy impossible to review. This format did not make sense. The illustrations are shapes with no detail so the context was completely lost.

This book is very difficult for me to review. I do not have kids with sensory issue as so this book was not meant for me.
This would be a great book for kids with sensory issues!!! A parent definitely needs to read this to a kid though so the parent can stop and explain things to the kid. I also feel that this book is meant for kids older than 5. I feel it is too much content for anyone younger.
There is a very good section for parents to explain sensory issues and what to do about them.
The last thing is this definitely need to be read as a book, not on a Kindle. The pictures don’t download correctly so they were not good. And the story was jumbled. The Kindle didn’t adapt correctly for this book

Riley the Brave Sensational Senses is a great book. So many children have issues with being overwhelmed by the environment that they are in especially since the covid isolations.

This simple little book helps both adults and children deal with these issues. It's bright and colourful so attractive to children and informative for care givers.

Having a child myself with sensory needs, I was looking forward to reading this one myself.

It is bright and engaging for children and it contains a lot of information on sensory processing and challenges faced by some people. It’s a good book for adults and children alike to gain more understanding about this topic and gain knowledge and tips on how to help someone.

Very educational and I feel it would work well with the age range this book is aimed at.

Thank you to Jessica Kingsley Publishers and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Eh. There are a lot of books similar to this one I just think are better. I used to work in behavioral health and have an Autistic child. I just wanted more I guess. If this was the only book like this you could get your hands on, it would be ok but there are definitely others I’d recommend first

This is a wonderful children's book, and I would recommend this book to others. This book provided a lot of information on sensory processing and showed what challenges people may face. I think it is a great way to learn more about this topic and learn new tools to help. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read this book and provide feedback,

I never understood sensory processing issues until I had a child who has them. This book is good for not only children (and their adults) who have these issues but also for children who do not so they can understand a little more of what their friends are struggling with.

What an amazing children’s book! This topic is so important and I love how the wording and the illustrations are so vivid and engaging for kids. I would love to read this to my son when he is a bit older. It could honestly even help adults to get a better understanding while raising kids!

This is a fantastic book! Many children have challenges related to sensory processing, whether they don't want their food to touch, or hate that the cute design on their sock means a tangle of strings in between their toes, or the argument over not wearing that same fuzzy red sweater for 74 days in a row! With growing awareness of autism in recent years, more people are beginning to understand that sometimes sensory processing can cause challenges for people, but it is important to realize that not all children with autism have sensory issues and fairly neurotypical children can have some major sensory challenges. I love how this book is written for young children in a way that they can understand and with strategies they can use, and told with a positive mindset, but it also has so much great information for adults. I also love that they include three additional senses, proprioception, interoception and vestibular system/balance, which most people are probably not aware of. I would definitely recommend this book to parents, support workers and teachers of children in the age 4-10 range. The more we normalize the fact that we all have sensory preferences and we need to respect the sensory preferences of those we share our lives with, the more kind and compassionate we can all be towards each other, and that starts with the little people! Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this fabulous book!

Sinarski's tale is a celebration of neurodiversity.

Riley is a little bear who struggles with sensory overload. For Riley, it can be extremely hard to deal with all of the endless sensations around him, such as flashing lights, loud noises, strong smells, new tastes, fast movements and the way things feel. Sometimes, when things become overwhelming, he gets angry and shouts at people. Other times, when he cannot cope he wants to hide and be alone in a quiet spot. The fair is coming up and Riley wants to go but is scared. His teacher sends him to a therapist, who helps him to deal with his emotions and senses.

This book teaches children about emotional regulation and coping skills. I also loved how it embraces the use of therapy for young children.

It contains information on sensory overload, how it might feel, why it happens, and how to deal with it. This book is just as informative for adults who may be encountering a child with these struggles for the first time. It is about acceptance as much as it is about reaffirming that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a child being this way.

This story was both entertaining and educational, which can be a tricky balance to maintain in a children’s book, and I will be suggesting it to teachers whenever possible. Incorporating social-emotional skills and topics such as this into children's picture books is a tried and true way to teach an important life skill in a way that is fun. This would be an amazing addition for classroom libraries, counselling offices and more.

This is a bery helpful book about hypersensitiveness for children. It contains information on how it might feels, why it happens, and how to deal with it. Not only for children, this book might as well useful to the caretakers too. The illustration is eye catching but not too much, it just fit well to the story.

The artwork in this book is very simple but cheerful. The message is clear and affirming. It explains to children in a simple way why they might find it hard to sit still or concentrate when their senses are overwhelming them. It then gives tips for how children can be helped to feel better and develop stronger coping strategies.

The book makes clear that there is nothing wrong with neurodiverse people, and uses inclusive language. The note to parents at the end explains the therapies used in the book and why and how they work. This is a really good and useful book. My only caveat is the artwork, which is fine (as I mentioned above), but not amazing.

Riley the Brave is such a lovable character! This was a great book to teach all children about issues with sensory perception. I really liked all the different techniques to help calm down and the explanation of terms at the end of the book.
