Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled publishing for a copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, I just didn't. Marriage of convenience? Fantastic. Outdoors and small town? Great. But something about this just didn't sit great with me. I don't know if it was the writing for this particular book as I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them, or if it was the overall theme, but this was just not for me. But I will definitely continue to check out her other books, as this could be a one-off issue.
A fun sweet read! Highly recommend.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC.
(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)
Synopsis: Nell Delaney is willing to go to great lengths for her family, except for entering a marriage of convenience to save their coffee shop. So, the Delaney sisters make a pact: the one who hasn't found love in thirty days must step up. Nell nominates herself and has the perfect guy in mind. The catch? She has to pretend to be an outdoor enthusiast. Adventure guide Grant Williams realizes Nell isn't exactly outdoorsy but finds her adorable. Their chemistry is undeniable. However, he discovers she's using him to win a bet about the sisters' agreement. Unable to tarnish his family's reputation, he decides she needs to be the one to end things. He'll play the worst bachelor in town to match her perfect bride act.
My Review: Well, I have to DNF this one at 50%. The premise was good though it wasn't as I expected. I kept going through the book nonetheless but was not vibing with the pacing (most of this 50% of the book was practically a day) which is too slow for me. Moreover, their conversations were childish and awkward like: "Oh wow, you kiss like a waterfall" (excuse me, WHAT DID YOU SAY?!). I don't get it and it took me out of the reading, not keeping me hooked.
Finally what made me stop was that now the guy decided to be the main character in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days instead of talking to her. This is said in the synopsis which I didn't read before starting this book and that's to me because I don't enjoy drama when It could be solved by talking. However, I thought that if this were the only problem I could have kept reading it, but the slow pacing and awkward conversation in addition to this made me decide to stop.
As I always say: this is my opinion. We can have different likes and dislikes so give it a try if you think you could enjoy it.
This honestly wasn't my favorite book ever. But I'm pretty sure this book was a case of "it's not you, it's me". I didn't care for the entire premise, and was kind of uninterested starting at the beginning and that never really picked up for me. The characters didn't pull me in! I'm sure it is great for others though!
A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. This is a crazy scheme-not at all believable but still funny. Grant and Nell are cute, but who doesn't like chocolate? 3 stars
Fun read and great start to the Majestic Maine series by one of my favorite authors Ginny Baird with great characters and a heartwarming romantic comedy. I loved the attraction, chemistry and repartee between Nell Delaney and Grant Williams. If you enjoy smartly written, can't-put-down romcom, don't miss The First Bride to Fall.
I adored this hilarious romance! There were moments of unrestrained passion where they simply couldn't help themselves in this amazing battle-of-the-sexes where you WILL laugh out loud. You might even snort. Not that I did, but you might. I really did enjoy this comedic romance though, and I know I'm terribly behind the times on this review bat goodness I can't even say it enough. I mean the rooster that was a pet which causes the guy to not be able to eat any meat but fish, and how she went on and on about all of the Thanksgiving dishes he couldn't have, and that's really not fair because you truly have to read it. Good stuff. That was mg favorite section though that makes me laugh thinking of it. Ready to buy the next one! #netgalley #FirstBridetoFall
If you enjoy Hallmark movies, you're going to love this book. It's a romance about a girl trying to get a long-time crush to fall in love with her even though they have totally opposite views of life. Just as the romance slowly begins, he hears gossip in town and begins to question her feelings toward him. He decides that he needs to put an end to the growing feelings that they have for each other, but he wants her to be the one to end their relationship. His plan backfires and her plan begin to fall apart. Will they be able to find middle ground and create a new and better relationship despite their differences?
The Delaney sisters are in a bind- one of them needs to marry the rich son of their dads former business partner in order to save the family business. But which sister will it be? To decide that, the women decide whoever is left standing at the end of the month and not engaged will do it.
The oldest daughter Nell has always had a crush on Grant and so decides to go for it. I like Nell, shes adorable and cute but there isnt as much substance underneath her and her motivations, everything is a bit surface level.
And I worried about her self esteem and feelings of self worth when the misunderstandings happened and Grant showed a different side.
All in all, it was a fun insta-love type story and I look forward to reading about the other sisters.
I absolutely loved this book. First Bride to Fall is a sweet, charming, witty read with endearing characters! Nell and Grant make a cute couple. Although as Nell learned "yoga" pants are not appropriate for hiking. Yet, I have to give props to Nell for trying. She sure earned her man.
I did not blame Grant for "playing along" with Nell when he learned the truth. Although, it sure led to some entertaining moments between these two. Plus, Grant did nothing in a mean-spirited way. If Nell did not snag up Grant, I would have done so. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Nell and Grant. Grant and Nell. Honestly, when I was reading this one, I kept forgetting it was Contemporary because of the notions suggested to save the business! I mean, I suppose people do marry for convenience, but sight unseen? No meet cutes, or meetings at all? Yeah, a bit from a different age, but nevertheless, it was an idea put forth in desperation, that these three sisters can't seem to find a way out of...or can they? I love the goals they set themselves to break out of the forced commitment, though I have a feeling Nell would have stepped up anyway, but I also love how it forced Nell out of her comfort zone. She was trying SO HARD it hurt, but it was sweet, and even Grant couldn't pick at her for that...at least until the old saying loose lips sink ships comes to pass and he tries turning the tables on her "get married quick" scheme by becoming a chauvinistic a-hole of the grade A variety. Oh. My. Word! I don't know how she kept her you-know-what together, but more power to her...and the way things turn out by stories end, you couldn't want for more. Heat level in this one is a little sparkage, but nothing more...it's sweet though and filled with emotion.
This book was so much fun! The relationship between Nell and Grant was fantastic. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this book out! It was a quick and easy read.
I have been provided with a review copy of First Bride to Fall from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley for an impartial review. This is the first book in the brand-new Majestic Maine series and this was just a great way to start off a new series. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
Nell Delaney has 30 days to get someone to marry her, save her parent's shop and keep her protect her sisters from having to marry. If her plan doesn't work, then she has to enter into a marriage of convenience with someone who could save her family's business but that really isn't what she wants. She wants love and she has had her sights on Grant Williams for a long time but he has never really noticed her; at least not the way she wants him to.
When Nell shows up for a hike it is very obvious that she knows nothing about the outdoors but she is so adorable and Grant plays along. When Nell gets hurt and Grant has to "save" her, their chemistry begins to heat things up. At least until the gossips start wagging their tongues in town and Grant is determined not to fall prey to Nell's nasty little plan to trap him. He is determined to beat her at her own game.
Will it be worth the risk to his heart or will he be able to see who Nell really is?
This is a sweet, wholesome almost romantic comedy. Nell and Grant's chemistry is swoon-worthy and there is a happy ending once misunderstandings are fixed. Can't wait for the next one in the series. Who will be the next to fall?
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I liked the gentle banter between Nell and Grant. The romantic tug of war between Nell and Grant was good and had a happy feel to it. The novel is light read and a must-read if you wish to read romance and happy endings.

Nell and her two sisters work at the coffee shop owned by their parents. The shop is struggling and when the girls found out that their parents have put a second mortgage on the business, they know that they need to save the shop and their parents from bankruptcy. To right old wrongs, an old family friend who betrayed them in the past, has offered her son, Aiden, in marriage to one of the three sisters. The sisters are appalled but make an agreement that whichever one of them is not engaged to be married in 30 days, will have to marry Aiden.
Nell decides that now is the time to pursue Grant. She's had a crush on him since high school but only admired him from afar. To start her plan to get him to marry her, she signs up for a hike provided by his nature group. It's pretty apparent right from the start that she isn't an outdoorsy person and after a series of misadventures and sprained ankles, she ends up at his fishing cabin overnight. The sparks begin to fly but when he hears about the bet she has with her sisters, he's hurt and decides to make her think he's a real loser. Will she end up marrying Aiden or will she and Grant get their happily ever after?
I thought that this was a quick light fun romance but I did think that it was a bit unrealistic that two people could fall in love so quickly. If you can suspend your disbelief about instant love and just read it for the interplay between the two main characters, it will leave you with a smile on your face and looking forward to the next book in the series that features one of the other sisters.
So I started this, I really like the Duplicate Bride by this author so I thought I was going to enjoy this, but it ended up not being it for me.
I have a love hate relationship with the fake relationship trope, but this one was a fun read. Instead of a fake romance between people who don't like each other to start, this is one where Nell, our main character, has had a crush on Grant for quite awhile, so this isn't really a hardship for her. Bonus points are that it's the start of a new series, which I'm excited for, but also if you're looking for a clean romance, this is a good pick. Think Hallmark movie, so it isn't realistic so much, but it's sweet and fun. I did enjoy the humor throughout, I always appreciate a romance with some humor, especially when I'm in the mood for a palate cleanser, so to speak.
My only issue was it's another book with miscommunication at the core. I feel like that theme has been beaten to death and I always enjoy a book with characters who communicate. Let's normalize that, you know? Overall though, I really enjoyed this one, it was exactly what I needed after a series of thrillers. It's light and fun, the absolute definition of a rom-com! It's my first read from Ginny Baird, but it definitely won't be my last, I really enjoyed her writing style.

This book was so much fun! The relationship between Nell and Grant was fantastic. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this book out!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher.
I grabbed this one because the summary sounded interesting and I wasn't wrong. The story itself was engaging and I thought the characters were well developed. There were times where I felt the story dragged a bit and I just wanted them to get to the end. There was a lot of back and forth when Grant found out about the bet the sisters had and tried to get Nell to be the one to call it quits.
This is my first book by Ginny Baird and I do think I will pick up the other books as I want to see how the sister's stories go. If you're looking for a contemporary romance with a mix of sweet romance and funny bits, consider picking this one up.
