The First Bride to Fall
By Ginny Baird
This book follows the journey of the Delaney sisters trying to get half their father’s business back to him. That he had been swindled out of by his former business partner. To obtain the business back one of the three daughters must partake in an arranged marriage with Mr Delaney’s former business partners son in return for his share of the worldwide business but which one will it be? Whilst she tries to persuade Grant to marry her in 30 days- will she achieve this?
Great story full of humour twists turns embarrassing moments. A fun read. I look forward to read the next to book.
4.5/5
A fun clean read in book one of a new series.
A new fun family with three sisters who have 30 days to get engaged or married if they want to keep the family business. It's a quick read, very clean, and is perfect for a vacation read. Nell and Grant have great chemistry together, fun banter, funny situations/ antics, and forced proximity which is always a win.
Wholesome contemporary romance. I’m assuming this is a beginning of a new series. The set up is cute. Three sisters agree the sister that isn’t engaged to be married in a month will accept a marriage of convenience that will correct a past swindling and save the family business. (It makes sense in the story.) The son doesn’t care which sister he marries. Nell has been pining for Grant Williams for years but never acted on it. Now is the time. She signs up for a nature hike he is leading. She is not properly outfitted and ends up with a twisted ankle making the two have to spend a night in his mountain cabin.
I thought we’d see the relationship develop for the month but instead first 30 percent of the book is 24 hours. The rest takes place over the next couple of days. He is attracted and asks her on a date but then he learns about the bet and decides to make her miserable at his cabin. I think for some people this will be very funny. It came off to me a cartoonish and unbelievable. His first attraction to her is because she is lying badly about common interests to get his attention. That doesn’t scream build a lasting relationship to me. And for a woman who does the family business accounting and owns her own house she comes off as very stupid. Because of the timeframe everything feels rushed and shallow.
It is a clean, easy, quick read. I assume there will be sequels featuring the two sisters. I will look for them but hope for a little more depth to the characters and stories. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. (2.5 stars)
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“First Bride to Fall” has one section in the story that deserves 5 stars. Laugh out loud funny, fantastic chemistry, and Nell and Grant’s characters shine through. So why only three stars? The issue for the set-up of the story. Three sisters racing to find a husband in thirty days to avoid an arranged marriage to save the family business. In this day and age, I don’t believe it. Plus, a mother proposing an arranged marriage. It did not come across as believable.
I intensely dislike this trope because I’m always waiting for the other shoe to drop. All the time thinking, when will Grant discover he’s a target for marriage and the storyline will explode. Why doesn’t Nell explain to Grant the issue? Communication would have helped a load in this story scenario.
Nell was busy wooing Grant and not explaining her tight timeline.
However, the main issues with this book are twofold. One is a writing issue, and the second reason the story was bland and sickly sweet. I had to force myself with the first 50% to continue reading. If I’m offered an ARC, my responsibility is to finish and review it.
Nell sets off to capture Grant by joining a hike Grant’s outdoor business is running. An accident happens, and of course, our couple finds themselves in a cabin waiting out overnight a storm and a flood. And just like that. Wait for it…they fall in love in the space of one night. So by the midpoint of the book, there on the verge of HEA. Of course not to be. The section from the middle is hilarious and is the only reason I’m giving this book three stars. It would be a one-star rating if it continued in the same vein as the first 50%.
I found the writing style at times exhausting. There were either pages and pages of dialogue or pages and pages of exposition and narrative.
As this is an ARC review, I encourage the editor to go back and increase the conflict in the first half of the story. How Nell’s plot was revealed to Grant also didn’t ring true.
This is a cute contemporary romance by Ginny Baird. In the story, three sisters make a deal to save their parents’ business. The sister who isn’t engaged or married in one month will marry the son of the man who swindled their father. Nell, the oldest of the sisters, has her heart set on Grant Williams, who she has liked for a while. Their relationship faces some challenges, however, when Grant finds out about the bet. He determines to be the worst fiancée ever to get Nell to break up with him.
Nell and Grant’s romance is cute and sweet and filled with humorous antics. Great dialogue, fun and flirty banter, miscommunication, forced proximity, and charming characters make for an entertaining read. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for providing me with an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
This book features insta-love which is never a favourite of mine. I liked the idea of this book but didn't enjoy the execution. it wasn't bad just not my cup of tea.
Nell comes across as a bit stalkerish and I felt the characters are making major life decisions on a whim. I enjoyed the time spent in the cottage and Nell's willingness to show Grant she can take on anything he throws at her.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
i am a fan of Ginny Baird books. These are full of love and things that make you want to believe in love. Total fan of her work and books. Must read.
I just reviewed First Bride to Fall by Ginny Baird. #FirstBridetoFall #NetGalley
I loved Nell right from the beginning and really enjoyed getting to watch her get to her happily ever after. I had expected this story to play out differently based on the description - I thought their romance would play out over the course of the 30 days rather than just a few days. That ended up being my biggest problem with the book as a whole. If Nell and Grant had more of a history from high school their whirlwind romance would have been more believable - we know that she's had a crush on him for ages, but he's really just meeting her and getting to know her at the beginning of the story. I did love the interactions between the two of them when they are trying to get the other to end things. They are so obviously perfect for one another and it shows in every moment they are together.
I have been a fan of Ginny Baird’s books for years now. When I had the opportunity to read her newest release, First Bride to Fall, I jumped at the chance. I was not disappointed. It is the start to her new series, Majestic Maine. I found the interactions between Grand and Nell were a pure delight and I was constantly laughing out loud at different scenes. I loved every single page and had to read the whole book in one sitting. It was a perfect way to spend during a cold, rainy day.
First Bride to Fall will be getting five stars from me. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean and entertaining romantic fiction. As always, I will be looking for more books by Ginny Baird in the future, as well as, the second book from her Majestic Maine series, Second Bride Down.
I received a digital copy of First Bride to Fall from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
It is sooo well written, completely gripping so make sure you set aside many hours so that you can greedily devour it in one swoop.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I totally loved this book. This book is a first in a series and I cannot wait for the next book. It was a cute read than had me laughing and smile and just enjoying the story.
Nell has been pining after Grant forever but now when it could be one last attempt to get close to Grant before she goes off to marry someone for saving her family, she takes a big risk. Once Grant meets her, there is a spark and circumstances force to stay in a secluded cabin. This forced proximity was entertaining and I actually felt it could have been more fun at this part but it was cute nevertheless.
The way he kept trying to force her to leave his cabin but kept falling for her more and more each time. Nell was absolutely cutest and many would relate to her about crushing on a schoolmate for a longtime and never taking a step. And the settings of the cabin and the trek along with camping were beautifully described that they make you feel like steeping out in nature.
I enjoyed this fun and cute read!!
I was so pumped up after reading the blurb of this book and the plot did not disappoint! It was kind of cliche, cheesy but cute nonetheless. A group of three sisters have placed a bet to get engaged or married within a 30 day time limit and whoever remains single will marry their father's rival's son to save their buisness and get their rightful share. Nell the oldest of them knows exactly who she wants and it's Grant Williams- they guy she has always admired from afar. Everything is going according to plan but what happens when Grant finds out about the bet and thinks that Nell is just trying to trap him? Who will be the first one to call whatever's going on between them off? Overall, the plot was really interesting and enjoyable but the insta love between Grant & Nell made it difficult to feel their connection in the first few chapters. Everything else was super fun and I can't wait to read the next books in the series and find out who is going to be entangled in the marriage of convenience now? Charlotte or Misty?
Thank you Netgalley & Entangled publishing for providing me the ARC copy of this book
Three sisters, a bakery in financial trouble, and the possibility of an arranged marriage to save them all...what could possibly go wrong? An enjoyable read about falling in love, for what appear to be all the wrong reason, and yet are right at the same time. Can see this book turned into a movie!
An arranged marriage with a bet that determines which sister ends up I. The arranged marriage. The whole premise really rubs me the wrong way but I gave it a shot. The heroine is deceptive from the get go, using a very nice guy to try and win the bet. He finds out and turn a the table becoming a real jerk to her turning her into his maid. By the end I didnt like either character
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This plot was intriguing. The cover makes it seem kind of mindless but thankfully there was substance. It was a fun easy read, good for a palate cleanser agree a heavy or intense book.
This is a super fun book. The interactions between Grant and Nell are fun with lots of great chemistry. I am looking forward to reading about Nell's other sisters.

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
First Bride to Fall by Ginny Baird is a cute romance about Nell Delaney, an accountant at her family's coffee shop, and Grant Williams, an adventure guide and Nell's high school crush.
To save their family business, one of the three Delaney sisters need to marry their family's enemy. They have a bet going- the sister who is not engaged at the end of thirty days gets to marry Aiden. This is all the encouragement Nell needs to finally go after the man she's been mooning after.
Commence Operation First Bride! The first half of the book is how Nell and Grant really end up falling for each other, due to forced proximity. Grant finds Nell to be perfect for him, while Nell falls deeper in love with Grant. However, Grant finds out about the bet and how he's "engaged to Nell" and decides that she needs to break up with him so he may save face.
Commence Operation Ditch Me! Grant decides to be awful to Nell in hopes that he chases her away. Nell refuses to give up on him and Operation First Bride, and eventually sees through his plan. And so behind their game of chicken, and shenanigans ensue.
The book was a very cute, fun and light read that picks up in the second half. Grant and Nell's little game of chicken is really entertaining to get lost in. While the ending was a clichéd, it was great to see Grant and Nell overcome their miscommunication issues and pride to finally give in to each other and end up with their happily ever after.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC!
Nell needs to get married so she can avoid a marriage to someone she doesn't know in order to save her parents business. This is what gets her to finally take a chance with Grant. Things seem to be going well, but when he finds out about her plan, a battle begins to see who will get the other to quit first
A fun read -looking forward to the next book in the series.
