You know that when you pick up a book by Ginny Baird that it will be a really good one. This does not disappoint you. I loved it from the beginning.
Wit their shop in jeopardy the Mothers decide that they will marry one of their daughters to the other ones son so they can keep the shop in the family. One is doing really well financially and the other family are not doing as well. They are having money problems.
Of the three daughters they aren't sure who is going to get married to the well off son. So between them they started a bet. Whoever is the last to get engaged in the next 30 days has to marry him.
Loved the story line and the characters. I found myself laughing out loud in spots and almost ready to cry in some.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of First Bride to Fall by Ginny Baird. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC to review.
Nell Delaney uses a bet between her sisters to give her that extra push to go after her long-time crush Grant. The only negative, if she can't convince Grant to become engaged within thirty days, she will be duty-bound to enter into a marriage of convenience.
I am not always a fan of fast moving romances that use a lot of sizzle and flash, ignoring the fact that our OTP (One True Pairing) doesn't actually know each other. Ginny Baird avoided that pitfall in her book by putting her characters through the wringer when getting together. I loved that the plot was super sweet and mostly angst free yet still felt genuine and swift paced. It was the perfect romantic novel combo that is so often missed. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series and see how everyone's stories end.
Enjoyed this beautiful book. I was captivated by the lovely story. I really enjoyed the characters throughout the book. I must say, I read the book in a couple days. I was thrilled to read this book by Ginny Baird. Always enjoy her books and this one was another beautifully written story.
If nothing else, the author knows how to write a very formulaic clean romance, but there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, it has all the tropes, all the misunderstandings, and mixed signals, but it is like getting in a bath of warm water. Sometimes it is just the sort of thing you need. And in this case it was.
Cute first book in a series where each of three sisters has to be married or engaged in 30 days, or else they have to marry to save the company business. This is all the incentive that Nell needs to go after a man she has been mooning over for at least a decade, even to the point of knitting him presents every year that she never gives him. A little stocky? Yeah, but it works.
It is romance candy, and the heaviest we get is kissing, which is fine too. Sometimes you dont' need more than that.

This is a truly an enjoyable read. It's a heartwarming, fun & moving romance.
When Nell's father's trust was
betrayed, life changed for the
Delaney family.
Years later, because of a plan,
a wager was made.
It has wonderful characters
& a quiant small town feeling.
Couldn’t put it down.
This book is a must read!!
I struggled with this one for a few reasons. Nell definitely comes off as stalkerish to me, which is never okay. There's a miscommunication trope. And it's insta-love. We're talking falls in love during the first 24 hours.
I'm just not a fan of those tropes.
The things I did enjoy include the dialogue between Nell and Grant (so fun!) and how the writing really brought out the emotion during the conflict.
So while this isn't my favorite story by Ginny Baird... it'll be a quick fun read for those who enjoy the tropes included in the book.
First Bride to Fall begins a new series by Ginny Baird about three sisters, one of whom must enter into a marriage of connivence to save the family business unless they find their own mates in the next 30 days. This book focuses on the oldest, Nell, who has had a crush on outdoorsman Grant for years. The way in which she goes about meeting him is classic Ginny Baird. The story has humor, great situations and dialogue, and is an easy enjoyable read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.
3.5 star read !
Nell has had a crush on Grant since high school but never expressed her feelings. So when Nell and her sisters strike a deal: whoever hasn’t found love in thirty days has to enter a marriage of convenience to save the family’s coffee shop, she knows what she needs to do.
Adventure guide Grant Williams knows immediately that Nell is not exactly Little Miss Outdoorsy. She’s a walking natural disaster—an amazingly adorable disaster. Things are going pretty well between them till Grant goes to town and comes to know of the bet between the sisters. Hurt and furious he decides he will pretend to be the worst bachelor ever and get her to ditch him.
I am a little on the fence with this book. On one hand I found them trying to best each other hilarious, but at the same time I found the timeline of their relation a little surreal. It was an interesting read and I am curious to know who finally gets married to Aiden Strong.
Nell has had a thing for Grant since high school, but has never found the courage to tell him. When her mom drops the bomb that the family business is struggling-- and that she wants one of her daughters to marry the son of the man who cut their family out of their shared profits years ago-- Nell and her sisters come up with a plan: they'll each try to get a man to propose to them in the next month, and the last sister standing will marry Aiden and save their family from their financial struggles. Finally, Nell has found the push she needs to tell Grant how she feels.
At first, things between the two of them go well. But when Grant goes into town, Nell's sisters accidentally let slip that they think Grant and Nell are engaged, and that they're happy Nell doesn't have to marry Aiden. Grant, furious and humiliated, comes up with a plan of his own: to get Nell so fed up with him that she ends things, so he won't be known in town as the man who broke beloved Nell's heart. What follows next is a battle of wills between two people-- one needing a marriage, the other hell-bent on a breakup-- that rivals How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days.
First Bride to Fall is funny, sweet, and has the right amount of each of the characters feeling bad about the situation to not make me discount it, or them, entirely. It's a ton of fun, as I knew it would be-- Ginny Baird writes pre-marriage shenanigans very well.
Nell Delaney will do almost anything for her parents and her two sisters. Nell and her sisters strike a deal: whoever hasn’t found love in thirty days has to step up to take one for the team. Nell decides to go after her crush Adventure guide Grant Williams.. Everything between them is so perfect, he’s not even a little bit shocked when he starts thinking of forever… Until he catches the town gossiping about the Delaney sisters’ bargain and realizes she’s just using him to win a bet. His family’s unreliable reputation means he can’t just dump one of the town’s sweethearts. No, she needs to dump him. If she’s going to pretend to be the perfect doting bride, well, he’ll just pretend to be the worst bachelor on the market.
It's an interesting book with an interesting plot88... I finished it in a day. I like Nell and Grant together. They didn't start off their relationship with honesty but they are good for each other. A very fun book..
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
Was instantly attracted to this book based on the synopsis, and was not disappointed. The plot was totally captivating and I read it all at one go! Through the book, I was holding my breath, heart breaking for both of them and what will end up of their relationship when they confront each other. Though it should have been sad, Ginny definitely made the book upbeat and fun with a lot of laughs
