i really enjoyed Esme and William's story. A fascinating look at witchcraft and covens. Also their love story came together in an unusual way. Looking forward to the next book.
The storyline and characters are well-developed and well-written. It kept me captivated from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more by this author. I would definitely recommend this book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with this eArc in exchange for an honest review.
"Magic Touch" is an enjoyable read revolving around 18th century England and a world of magic, romance and an evil power threatening to overthrow not only Windsor’s coven of witches but also the English crown.
It is a character-driven story, focusing on the perspective of our two main characters, Esme and William. Both perspectives are very well-written, in my opinion, and the reader sympathizes with our heroes and the feelings, the inner turmoil and the struggles that they face throughout the book. At the same time, the reader travels back to 18th century England not only through the accurate portrayal of the English society and its societal restrictions and expectations but also through the language employed, which the author handles elaborately.
However, while reading the story of Esme and William, I couldn’t help but find that the numerous back n’ forths in their relationship were unnecessary after a point, especially when the romantic appeal between the two main characters appears to be mutual and is openly expressed from the first pages of the book. If their romantic relationship was build more slowly, I believe that this device of romantic uncertainty that the author employs would work better and would possibly captivate the reader’s attention more. Lastly, I believe that the story in its entirety would be more well-balanced if there was a little more action or a more intense final confrontation between William and Orin. It would heighten the readers’ excitement and anticipation for the next book and the resolution of this story.
All in all, this was a solid 3,5 stars read for me because I enjoyed Magic Touch and I would like to read the next book, however there are aspects of the book that could be handled differently in order to make the story more enthralling.
well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters. I read this book really quickly I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more by this author.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this quaint book
witches, powers and dark magic...whats not to like about this book
when william enters the shop he was looking for, he was about to get more than he bargained when he went looking for a tonic to help with his pain, the witch esme was about to to take his pain away but also to awaken his latent powers
with the advent of these powers esme decides she needs more help from the coven that she had refused to join and with their help she is hoping to find out if the powers that william has will turn out for good or evil, and if he does turn evil he will need to be bound....
an exciting new series that will enchant you till the end...so glad i have found another new series to get my teeth into, will be keeping an eye out for more of this authors work
This is a story about an England that has witches, healers and magic in it. The main character Esme is a witch/healer. She meets war hero William and feels a deep attraction to him. He returns her feelings. He is bestowed magical powers and Esme has to teach him how to use it....
This is an interesting England. I love how magic fit into the world. The 2 main characters have incredible chemistry together. I love how they care for each other. Love their banter too. An interesting book with wonderful characters.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
