Margaret Peterson Haddix does it again with this perfect summertime mystery. A clever, engaging and fun novel about discovery, secrets, mysteries, and revelations. Haddix offers kids the opportunity to think about what’s important to them and what’s “junk” as well as an enriching example of how to make and keep friends…all wrapped up in local and global historical events oft forgotten. A nostalgic journey for this adult reader, but the brief glimpses will be enlightening for the younger generation. Middle grade readers are going to love this one!
