This book is the third in the Gilded Gotham Mysteries series. Set in Gilded Age New York, our female sleuth, Genevieve, sets out to solve the murder of one of the most popular models of the day. The police are trying to keep the slayings quiet, but Genevieve wants to stop New York's Jack the Ripper before more lives are lost! My friends will tell you that historical mysteries are my bread and butter, and this series doesn't disappoint! I can't resist a strong, snarky female sleuth! Full of twists and turns and suspense, the story moves quickly. Perfect for those who love historical fiction, true crime, or mysteries!

Another great continuation of Belli's Gilded Age series that sees Genevieve and Daniel confront potentially their most intense case yet. A string a murders with a hauntingly artistic connection pushes them to their limit and forges a new depth to their relationship. I always enjoy reading these mysteries because you can tell that the book is historically accurate and well-researched while still crafting a story that is compelling.

Might there be a New York Ripper or might Jack the Ripper have migrate to NY? What about Pipping Tom who visits affluent suburbs and sneaks into bedroom's windows because windows are kept open in the night due to the unbearable heat.
Genevieve Stewart a reporter and a sleuth paired up with tall dark (with murky past) and handsome McCaffrey is on the trail of both: Ripper who kills artists' models and Pipping Tom who scared Genevieve one night.
Treachery on Tenth Street is vivid in colors, characters and descriptions. Reader gets a glimpse of New York and surrounds of the times, including events, personalities and even 'elephant' on the beach.
The new installment in Gotham Gilded Mysteries is a very worthy continuation of the series. It is a bit to gory and gloomy to be called a cozy-mystery but is just right for the lovers of 'golden age' crime fiction.

This is the third book in the Gilded Gotham series. I really like how all of the characters have grown from the first novel. I also like the mystery. I find it very engaging and is full of twists and turns! Overall, I recommend this for fans of Alyssa Maxwell, Radha Vatsal, and Clara McKenna!

Another intricate and interesting cosy mystery with intrigue and tension, with many twists and turns! There are also some unexpected outcomes. Definitely not a boring read, this one!

As before Gen and Daniel partner up to get to the bottom of the murders. And, once again, Gen is a committed professional. This instalment leans into the history of the time (including Jack the Ripper). There are also some developments in their personal circle,

This one was a page-turner and I found I had to read it twice AND I just had to go back and read the others in the series, it was so worth it.

Journalist Genevieve Stewart and her friend Daniel McCaffrey are back together, investigating a case of dead artist model(s). Their digging takes them into the lives of Genevieve's impoverished friend (and model) Callie, and other models and wealthy artists who use them, as well as how they all intersect with local gangsters.

No one is particularly likeable in this story, and though I know I was supposed to empathize with Genevieve and Daniel as they cope with danger and a brutal heat wave in New York City, I was more interested in all the fascinating historical details Kate Belli seeded throughout this mystery.

The murderer wasn't hard to figure out, but I got most of my enjoyment from learning more about New York City during this period.

Kate Belli does it again. I loved the third installment of this series. The twist and turns didn’t disappoint and the suspense was palpable. So was the growing love and affection between Daniel and Genevieve. This has to be the slowest burn I’ve ever read. It’s been three books!! But I love it. I love how their always there for each other. I’m really happy with the way this one ended and I’m eagerly anticipating the fourth book!

They are also protecting a friend Calllie who is posing for a sculptor and may be in danger. The police want to suppress the story as gutter journalists are whispering Jack the Ripper. Too many suspects to count and the race is on to find the killer. Excellent period piece with interesting characters.

This is the third book in the 'Gilded Gotham' mystery series. Set in the late 1880's, Genevieve is a woman before her time, almost thirty, unmarried and working as an investigative journalist. When two artists models are discovered murdered with their throats cut, Genevieve and her friend, wealthy bachelor, Daniel find themselves in the middle of the investigation. Is it true, that Jack the Ripper has relocated from London to New York, or is there someone copying his work?
A lovely period piece of writing with a gritty murder at the centre. Genevieve and her friends and family are all wonderful characters in this entertaining series.

Treachery on Tenth Street is the third book in the A Gilded Gotham Mystery series by Kate Belli.

It’s July 1898, and New York is experiencing a streak of sweltering weather. Genevieve Stewart has headed for Newport for the summer, where she will be covering the season’s social events. Genevieve is looking forward to spending the summer visiting with her friend Esme, her husband Rupert, and her friend Daniel. Her close friend, Callie, has come out of hiding and has asked Genevieve to investigate the murder of a fellow model, Bea. Bea had been modeling for an artist in the Tenth Street Building, where several artists have studios. Callie relates that the police called Bea’s death suicide, even though Bea’s throat had been cut. Genevieve and Daniel return to New York City, where they will encounter their nemesis Detective Longstreet, who warns them away from any investigation on their own. A second model suffers a similar fate, and even though the police don’t let the deaths be known, a reporter learns of the deaths and writes an article wondering if Jack The Ripper has come to the United States. Much to their dislike, Genevieve and Daniel realize that they need to get Longstreet to agree not to let any more information get to the press while they continue their investigation. Their investigation will lead them from members of society to some prominent artists and to the seedy Five Point area to seek help from some mobsters. Every lead they follow seems to end up turning into a dead end. When Genevieve reviews pictures taken at the crime scenes, she knows who the killer is, But will they get to the killer before any other models are killed?

I always look forward to reading the latest book in this exciting series. The books are well-written, plotted, and historically accurate. Ms. Belli also provides readers with engaging, believable, and well-developed characters.

I’m looking forward to the next book to see what adventures Genevieve and Daniel will have and if there will be a romantic interest for this duo.

The third book in this excellent series. Genevieve and Daniel are back and their relationship is developing nicely.

In Treachery on Tenth Street Genevieve's friend, Callie, asks her to investigate the death of a young artist's model. With Daniel helping they discover that several young women have been murdered, and there is a rumour that Jack the Ripper has relocated from London to New York. Our pair of sleuths follow the clues and finish up putting themselves in great danger.

I enjoyed the story although it did slow down a lot in parts. The investigation itself took a few too many pages. However the ending was very exciting indeed and the book finished on a high. I will certainly watch out for book four.

I have been waiting on this book for a FULL ON YEAR and let me tell you what: It was AMAZING. Better than I expected. High stakes, high emotion, and higher drama.

This mystery centered around people close to the hearts of our heroes, Daniel and Genevieve. Her old friend has returned after being missing for months, and shares terrible tales of beautiful girls being murdered in disturbing ways, bringing to mind Jack the Ripper, who is still on the loose. The atmosphere is less cozy and more sinister here, ramping your nervousness and disquiet up several notches. Belli sets each scene with precision, vividly describing each setting in this gilded world.

I think for the last 75 pages or so my heart was beating so fast I felt like I was doing cardio. I'm not one who goes in trying to figure out whodunnit, and maybe for hardcore mystery readers they can guess the killer, but I just let myself sink into the setting and my love for these characters. Belli also does a great job reviewing what happened in the last book enough to remind us of the events, but in a slow, relaxing way, not an info dump at the beginning.

And Daniel. Oh, Daniel. And Genevieve. How I love them. I think my only complaint was that we didn't get to see many quiet moments with them where they could sit with their feelings and my poor dears were ALWAYS in danger. This book is nonstop. I realize that she didn't want to slow the pace at all, but I would have liked a little bit more at the end to let my feelings settle down a little.

Overall, a stellar installment in a stellar series- I have already reread the first two a few times, and I know I'll be adding this one into my comfort rotation. Kate Belli is cemented as an auto-read, favorite author for me after this one!

I haven’t read any of the other Gilded Gotham mysteries, but that wasn’t a problem. This was a solid read. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. I liked Genevieve’s independence in a time when that wasn’t a common thing. Even Daniel had depths, with his street punk background and shady friends. This was a fun read, and I’d definitely read more of the series.

I have read this series from the first book and, while it can be read as a stand alone, I think starting with the first book is best. Each one is a wonderful glimpse at the world of 1888 New York, the Gilded Age. The main characters are Genevieve and her partner Daniel. She has her sights set to become known as an investigative journalist but, being a woman she has an uphill climb. Along the way she and Daniel unmask murderers.
In this, the third book, upscale models are being murdered and the police want it all to go away. These lovely ladies are more than just models.They are mistresses of some very wealthy men who want to stay out of the messy investigating. Secrets must be kept but they wont be with Genevieve and Daniel on the case.
Not only are Genevieve and Daniel a wonderful duo - both as investigators and close friends - they show the reader how society treats women in 1888. New York and its surroundings are living characters, too. The mystery kept me reading way past my bedtime as had the previous two books. If you enjoy historical mysteries this series is a must for your must be read shelf. The next in the series, Opulence and Ashes, already has a spot on my shelf.

Genevieve and Daniel finally think that they may have caught a break from solving crimes. Yet when one of Genevieve’s friends comes to her concerned about one of her fellow models, Genevieve knows she needs to help find the murderer. Yet in the world of art there are a lot of models and muses. Could someone be so moved by a muse that they are pushed to murder?
This is a fun book. I enjoyed Genevieve and Daniel’s relationship. I think that at times it was just a little slow paced, and then it would speed up to the point where it felt like the author was trying to put to much in a short period of time. I will say that I didn’t guess who the murder was going to be. Which I quite like, as so many books I figure out who the murderer is early in the story. While I had not read any other books in this series, I do think this might be one book that I would like to see the characters origin story.

This is one of the most underrated historical mystery series out there. The characterization is excellent, Belli's description of place and setting are evocative and detailed, and the plot is engaging without being convoluted. Can't wait for the next one!

Thought-provoking and terrifying are the two terms that come to mind with Treachery on Tenth Street.

I will fully admit I was drawn into this glittering world of New York in the late 1880s. The clothes, the locations, what was considered scandalous, the propriety of it all I loved everything about it.

Kate Belli has a gift with storytelling, I was truly immersed in this world that has everything I could ask for in a murder mystery including a possible connection to Jack the Ripper.

While I haven't read the first two books in this series I feel like this one can be read as a stand-alone, there's enough backstory in the first few chapters that you really can just pick it up and go.

I will be reading the others in this series, Genevieve is my favorite type of character and I need more of her story in my life.

I was fascinated with the detective work that Genevieve and Daniel completed, the strength it must have taken for Callie to make the decisions she did, finding out who they could count on and who was evil in not so much of a disguise it's all just fantastic.

I loved this book and can't wait to go back and start the first one. I hope to read many more books in this series.

I have read this series since its beginning and I can not get enough of this duet.
Why I am so happy to know there will be a forth book.
Genevieve and Daniel form such a great team, he might be protective of her, he does not let his fears for her security impede her steps, he follows happily her lead and acknowledges her knack for seeing beyond the obvious.
Sure, this series of murders drags them into many dead ends and false roads, putting their safety more and more at risk as they come close to discover the culprit.
Genevieve has finally realized how much Daniel means to her, yet as others’ romances unravel around them, she still holds back, uncertain of what a future together would mean for her career.
Daniel would put his own life in line to save her, and he came close to it in their previous investigation, yet after his proposal’s rejection, he does not want to hurry things, letting her set the pace, happy to just be her friend for now.

This new affair introduces Gavin, Genevieve’s older brother, the muses or models world and these women’s lack of choices as they have to compromise themselves to put bread on the table and the artists gravitating around them.
I was intrigued by the different crime scenes, the Coney Island’s Elephant and of course the Tenth Street Studio Building. So I googled the places and just WoW!
You should have a look at these sites, they are a summary of a moment in time.
A bit sad modern times had to erase what made the history.

The author with talent guides us towards a wild goose chase as body count rises and clues, suspects and motives become blurred as past and present romances find a new turn.
