Someone is murdering the glamorous models in New York City. As the number of girls murdered ( two) begins to pile up, Genevieve Stewart is drawn into the case when her friend Callie’s friend, Beatrice Holler is found with her throat cut.

Despite the sweltering heat of summer, Genevieve and Daniel McCaffrey begin to ask questions about why these beautiful women are being found dead.

I read the first book in this series, but not the second one, and I have to admit that this third one was better than the first. It was a lot faster in pace and it definitely kept my attention. It appeared to me that attention to detail really helped to keep this story very much alive in this reader's mind. I felt the sweltering heat and as they raced to find who was the culprit, I felt the characters were very well reflected in this era of time. I like the pace that was kept with the relationship between Genevieve and Daniel, and how they were in sync with each other’s motivations as they solved this case together. I enjoyed this!

My gratitude to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books. All opinions expressed are mine.

As a heat wave engulfs New York in the summer of 1889, the city’s top models begin turning up dead, one by one, suggesting the work of a single killer. Society girl turned investigative journalist Genevieve Stewart is drawn into the case when Beatrice Holler, one of her friend Callie’s fellow models, is found with her throat cut. I really enjoy historical mysteries and this writer does an outstanding job of portraying the golden age beautifully. While part of a series, this would read nicely as a standalone. Interesting characters, nice slice of history and a well plotted mystery. What's not to love? Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

I didn't realise this was part of a series before starting this novel. I don't think that it is critical to have read the previous ones, however, if you are like me, you will want to seek out the previous ones anyways.
Fun mystery with a strong female protagonist.

I love Historical Mysteries, I find them an escape in our very modern world. However, when a Historical Mystery book brings the modern world, I must protest, I liked the premise, wealthy girl reporter, handsome hero, so what's the problem? The problem is the hero is totally second to the heroine, she is the dominant force, he is made to look like an open check book, with the wrong kind of friends who always saves them? How bad can these loyal friends be? My dream is to read stories that show the truth of the age that is being written about. Ladies were ladies, men were men, and The poor will be with you always, that never changes, no matter how much money is thrown at it. I would love to have written about the story, but, if you weave politics into a story, I will call it as I see it.

Superb entre into historical fiction of the Gilded Age. Belli is particularly adept at setting the stage. We feel the heat of Manhattan and the ride in a hansom cab down city streets. She is adept, too, at plotting. I did not guess the identity of the culprit. Whether the upper class principle character would continue to be friends with a woman who chooses an irregular lifestyle is up for debate, but most of Belli's characters are fully developed and convincing. It would have helped to have read the previous book in the series--the two are closely entwined.

I jumped into the Gilded Gotham Mystery series at the start with open eyes, both feet forward. And it has not disappointed me yet! This series is rich with historical detail and mystery, and this third installment was everything that I had hoped for.
Genevieve Stewart--part of New York's wealthy elite but bucking society's expectations in so many ways--embarks on yet another mystery, this time to help her friend Callie. Artist's models are being murdered one by one, and the papers are suggesting that maybe Jack the Ripper has fled London and started a killing spree on this side of the Atlantic. Together with Daniel McCaffrey--formerly a gang member but now part of New York's wealthiest also--Genevieve races against time and a murderer in the midst of a suffocating heat wave.

Such a satisfying book, and worth the wait! We are left feeling hopeful, with a resolution of sorts, but also with the expectation that there will be more...and it will be good! Like the third installment of any good trilogy, it resolves much of what was left hanging (especially in the second installment) and is hopeful. I appreciated how the characters have developed a bit over the three books, and I appreciated how the mystery was crafted. We are given a glimpse of not only how the wealthiest of society live, but also the societal ills affected everyone (including the most impoverished and vulnerable) at the end of the 19th Century. This is a series that is definitely best if you start with book one.

Although this is the third book in the series (and I have not read one or two) I found that it is definitely a standalone read and I was very happy with that. Although I may now have to go back and read the other two as I want to see what evolved before I read this one.

I like Genevieve, love the Jack the Ripper connection, the mystery adn the historical aspect as I am an hysterical fiction fan. It is thrilling, exciting, interesting and a very enjoyable read. I found it well written and loved the characters.

Great book, great read and very enjoyable.

Hello! I have loved the books in this series by Kate Belli, and this book is no exception. I have mostly been a fan of books set in the eighteenth century, Regency Period of the early 1800s as well as the Gothic Period. Slowly but surely I have developed allegiance to books set in the Gilded Age. Kate Belli's writing, plots and characters have really fortified my interest in this era. I love Genevieve and Daniel. I keep hoping for a deeper romance, but the promise is just as alluring. I really appreciate the ARC from NetGalley. Treachery on Tenth Street is another brilliant addition to the chemistry and composition of Gilded Age romance and mystery. Thank you! :)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. The third in the series that can be read as a standalone book as the first part of the book does recap the prior books. I enjoyed the first 2 books and found they did enrich this read for me. The mystery is interesting, and the descriptions of the conditions of the time paint a good picture of the period in which woman have few choices in careers. The romance is light but there is a bond between Genevieve and Daniel that you feel growing throughout the book. The secondary characters were not as involved as they were in previous books and had minor roles, and the connection did not seem as strong.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an e ARC of this book.
This is the third in the series. Not having red the first two, I was missing a lot of the backstory so didn't have the complete story of the characters and their relationship.
Nonetheless, the plot stood on its own and was interesting. Enjoyed the book.

3.5 stars

A period piece following our characters as they hunt down a murderer.
I love stories that follow this time period especially when they focus on characters that don't always follow the social norms. Our female Mc is a revolutionary woman doing her best in a man's world. She along with our male Mc make for an insightful look to what their lives would have been during that period along with the search for the killer.
This was a intriguing easy read. The story kept me interested throughout although I found it predictable. I enjoyed the storyline and want to see how our mcs lives continue.

This is absolutely captivating. It wraps you up & your completely consumed. If you’re on the fence about this one, pick it up, you won’t regret it.

Kate Belli strikes gold again! Daniel and Genevieve once again have a mystery to solve, and along the way, some interesting things happen. I won't spoil it for anyone else who reads this. I'll just say that it's a quite absorbing read, and when the culprit is revealed, it will be a bit of a shock.
There is nothing about this book I didn't like. Even the characters that one should find disturbing, I found intriguing. It was interesting to see how their minds operated, how seemingly easy it is for one's mind to break. So not only was this a historical mystery, for me it was something of a psychological thriller, one I enjoyed very much.
I look forward to more books by Belli, as I feel she is an excellent writer. Not only does she successfully capture the essence of the time period, she presents all the characters with all their foibles, making it possible for the reader to relate to them. She draws you in completely, and that is the mark of a true writer. Definitely a must-read!!
Thanks to NetGalley for this arc, which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Not having read any books by this author before i was not sure what to expect and although this is a good read it did take me a while to finish this, had to put it down and come back to it several times

A historical murder mystery i did eventually enjoy

Having not read the first two books in this series, I didn't fully comprehend the relationship between the two main characters and all their satellite acquaintances. That didn't affect the mystery, which was good and well written. But I just couldn't care much about any of the characters. The supposedly close friendship of the MFC and her friends didn't quite mesh with me -- I never felt nor saw any particular reason for the friendship. I was just told they were BFFs. (This may be a "miss" for me if it was further illustrated in the first two books.) For an intrepid, determined reporter, the MFC seemed a bit squeamish to me. It wasn't a bad mystery, it just wasn't one that makes me want to go back and read the first two books or eagerly await the next installment. #NetGalley #TreacheryonTenthStreet

I really enjoyed this third entry into the Gilded Gotham series. It's a sweltering summer in 1888 NYC. Genevieve is a journalist who is supposed to be off to Newport to report on the various societal goings-on. Instead, her artist model friend Callie asks her to investigate the murder of a fellow artist model. Genevieve and her investigate partner (and slow-simmering romantic interest) Daniel investigate as more models are murdered and there are fears that Jack the Ripper has made his way to NYC. This was an interesting look into the late 19th century NYC art world, and a good mystery.

Genevieve and Daniel are asked to find out who killed an artist model by her friend Callie (who is also modeling). Clues are few and the New York summer is hot. A wonderful look at women's lives in 1889 as well as a great who-done-it.

Genevieve and Daniel are back for the third book in this Gilded Age historical mystery series.

This picks up several weeks after the second book. Genevieve’s friend Callie enlists her help finding out who murdered Callie’s fiend, also a fellow model. Genevieve is supposed to be in Newport reporting on all the society happenings there for the newspaper that she works at, but she feels compelled to help Callie. Of course, Daniel isn’t going to let her investigate by herself. When more models end up dead and there appears to be a connection to Jack the Ripper, who rumors have suggested is now in New York.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I think it’s an excellent entry in what’s been a great series. Genevieve and Daniel are both well developed likable characters individually. Even after they continue to grow closer, after three books it might be time to move that relationship forward a bit more, even though there are understandable reasons why it’s hasn’t, The secondary characters are wonderful, I like that we’ve had Rupert and Esmie and they’re continuing story throughout the series and I like Callie’s character and hope we get so read more about her. The mystery was intriguing, even if the reveal seemed a bit rushed. I hope we get more books in this series!

Another good thriller in this series with an interesting theme of the art world of the late nineteenth century. The personal lives of Daniel and Genevive is becoming more like teenage romance and it’s high time the author moves it forward. Some more insight into the art works and artists would add more flavour to the story. An interesting series in the line of CS Harris.
