Six Graves Angela Marsons
With this author, you know what you will get as soon as you open the first page. A strong female lead, a head pounding storyline, and twists to keep you entertained, and of course, we got all of these and more with this book.
I will always keep coming back for more Kim Stone books.
Absolutely brilliant as always, not sure why my review didn’t post! Every book in the series has been a rollercoaster of a read
Not my favorite of the series. I loved the growth of the characters, the team building exercise in the beginning is just epic. But the resolution didn't go anywhere.
The killer was easy to figure out - though I enjoyed the progress.
Angela Marsons fans will definitely be intrigued with Six Graves, the 16th installment of the bestselling DI Kim Stone series where Kim and her team are called to the scene of what appears to be a murder-suicide with a husband and two children being shot by the mother, then her suicide. In addition, there was a small fire in the kitchen bin noticed by a neighbor, who becomes a suspect. A cruel psychopath named Symes, who loves to torture children has escaped from prison and is looking for Kim to pay her back for rescuing two children he was ready to torture and murder as well, as putting out one of his eyes. His only goal is to find Kim and torture her slowly to death.
Anyone who follows this series is well-acquainted with the protagonist, Kim Stone, who isn’t particularly likeable and has few real friends because of her brusque manner. Her team, consisting of several very competent detectives, as well as a coroner and a crime team love her because she is a leader and gets the job done. These characters are believable and seem like real people – not friends, exactly, but a team that works together to get results. Marsons also tells the story with constant building suspense and plenty of ups and downs to keep readers on the edge. Marsons’ books are absolutely unputdownable, and while there is a lot to them, they will be read quickly because there is too much happening to let them rest.
All told, this is another excellent installment to the series, and readers will love the surprise ending. They will especially look forward to the subsequent novels to come.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
This book brings an old foe back into Kim’s life, but what lies ahead we don’t know yet.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.
Blimey....I am not even sure how to start this review! This book was an absoluter smasher and has left me feeling very odd about how things will be for the next book! The main storyline and the case the team are working on is what seems to be a murder suicide. Helen Daynes is a wife and mother however when the team arrive on scene all of them are dead and Helen Daynes is holding the gun!
Bryant, Stacey and Penn are all tasked with the various jobs involved when running a murder case because Kim is convinced this isn't as straightforward as it looks. However, what Kim didn't account for was the re-appearance of a man from her past that is literally going to push her to the very edge. I really don't want to elaborate any more on the storyline because that really would ruin it, but what I will say is this is possibly my favorite book of the series (and that is going some!)
This book literally had me on the edge of my seat with every page and chapter that I read. Packed to the rafters with suspense, drama and nail biting scenes that had me anxious to the point of biting my nails! Cannot believe we are 16 books in to such a fabulous series and Angela just pulls out all the stops and is still producing such amazing storylines.......an absolute MUST READ and I don't just mean this book. The whole series is absolutely brilliant!
Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for another fantastic book by Anglea who is now in my top 10 authors list.
This series just keeps getting better and better and I just love these books.
Great pace, great story, as always great characters and I couldn't put it down once started.
I cannot recommend this series highly enough.
I enjoy this series so much! It is such a well written series where you get connected to the characters, as well as pulled into the story line. This one starts and ends pretty intensely at a funeral - you just don't know whose it is until the end. Another great read. I would recommend reading them in order, they are standalones where each story is finished by the end but there are some themes and character development that happens throughout the series that I enjoy knowing the whole picture of the history of each character.
** I was given a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review**
Angela Marsons does it again. With Six Graves being the 16th book in the D.I. Kim Stone series, the stories keep pulling me in and gripping me from beginning to end. There are two investigations going on at the same time. First, Kim and her team are called to a home where a family (mom, dad, and two children) are dead and the house set on fire. It appears to be a murder suicide with the mother being the killer, but Kim knows that things are not always what they seem. The second is the abduction of a little girl, her mother released to contact Kim and tell her that the kidnapper wants her. Kim knows it is the escaped psychopath, Symes, who wants to hurt kids, but also torture and kill Kim, the one who put him in prison in the first place. Can Kim figure out who killed the Daynes' family and why? Will she be able to track down Symes, and rescue the girls her has kidnapped? Working with her amazing team, I'm sure they will.
This was an amazing DI Kim Stone story. There was so much going on, I couldn't stop reading or listening to this one. Kim is damaged from what happened to her by her mother when she was a child, but it only makes her more tenacious in her detecting. She is a smart boss and knows how to use her team benefitting from their strengths. They also trust her and will support her choices, even if they are worried it could be dangerous. Because of Symes escape, Kim is being shadowed by witness protection officer, Leanne King, who tries to rein her in, something Kim doesn't like. This is a dark, gripping story with the Symes storyline. We know Kim is in danger and as the story winds down, I was worried for her. This is a gripping thriller that was well written, but it also had some interesting themes. There is the theme of adoption, mental health issues, greed, family relationships and revenge. As both investigations move forward, I was invested in the families and their grief and difficulties in their lives. Another winner for Kim Stone fans. The audiobook was once again narrated by the wonderful, Jan Cramer. She adds chills and tension to the book with her tone and expression. If you enjoy a crime thriller, then pick up Six Graves, in either format, you won't be disappointed.
Marsons always has you gripped from start to finish and Book 16 once again takes it to another level.
Kim is investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide, but the family has been holding onto many secrets while one of Kim's nemesis us out to get her.
Gripping, climatic and page-turning drama that will make you want to stay up way past your bedtime!
I absolutely adore the Detective Stone series and I was delighted to get the opportunity to review the newest book. I loved the plot and read the book over one sitting as I was so engrossed. It was a brilliant read and I look forward to reading Detective Stone books for many years to come!
At the scene of a house fire DI Kim discovers that all four members of the family have been shot dead in an apparent murder-suicide case but something doesn’t look right meanwhile Symes, a psychopath she previously caught has escaped prison and is out for revenge.
Six Graves the 16th book in the DI Kim Stone series by author Angela Marsons. This is a really outstanding series and this one continues along the same lines, an exciting well written, tightly plotted, intense thriller with well -developed , gritty characters that kept me hooked to the end. Cannot wait for the next one !
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
Utterly brilliant.
From start to finish, as always, i was totally gripped and read in one sitting.
I will never get bored with this series. It's like coming to a family reunion reading a Kim Stone book.
Loved it and will be recommending it to the whole world!
We’re on book 16 of this series and every addition is as gripping as the first. I absolutely adore this team, they are all so lovable. As always I love Kim despite how stubborn she is. I always thought Alex was the scariest villain in this series but this book brought a whole new level of fear. This book is kind of 2 in 1 because you have the tension and fear of the hunt for the escaped killer and then you have the investigation into the dead family. They both work well together and I was hooked until the terrifying and heartbreaking ending. Highly recommend this series. Although prepare to have your heart broken along the way.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This is a book of two halves really: a family has been murdered in their home and Kim's arch Nemesis Symes has escaped from prison. Kim has been given protection and warned by Superintendent Woodward not to get involved in the recapture of Symes. It weighs heavily on her but she knows that Woody means it! The murder of two parents and their two children is a much more complex case than first apparent. I really enjoyed this latest installment of the Kim Stone series, long may they continue! Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.
What can i say.....another amazing book from Angela Marsons, never fails to delive.
The way the story is told, i really feel im in the book watching from inside, love that characters and how they develop throughout. This book kept me gripped from start to finish, i ket thinking i knewe where it was going then theres a twist loved it
Thank you so much Netgalley for the ARC!
I realize now what a fool I was not to read this book the instant I got approved! On my defense, I wasn't familiar with the series. Angela Marsons is a genius. She portrays each scene so vividly, I can almost picture the rush, the rise of tension, the never ending changes in Kim's expressions - desperate Kim, sarcastic Kim, fed-up-with-Woody Kim. Six Graves can be read as stand alone but there are references from previous books since the villain was dealt with before. So it might be a good idea to read them serially. It's the most enjoyable that way. As much as I feel for Kim, Ted is a life saver. He is bloody awesome. I love him so so much. Someone should protect him at any cost. I hope the series never ends.
I’ve read the entire series, since the beginning.
They never fail to disappoint and I still get excited when there is a new release.
You feel like you’re growing with the team, welcoming new meme era and bidding farewell to some others.
I would recommend reading the series, but they can be read as a stand alone.
Six Graves was a whirlwind, as usually. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the fabulous AM
I belt don’t know how Angela does it book 16 and still fresh, gripping and unpredictable. But Lord maybe a bit of happiness at some point for Kim? As usual not to be missed save it as a nice autumn treat.
Another great book in the series! I am so glad to keep on reading Marsons with help of Netgalley. As usual, this had twists and turns I could not have predicted. Can't wait for next book!
