Thank you for my copy of this book to review.

Having read all of the Kim Stone books, I eagerly wait for the next instalment from Angela Marsons. As usual, this one did not disappoint. She has you hooked into the story from the very first page.

I can’t say too much about the plot without giving away spoilers but I enjoyed the dual storylines and as always with these books, I love the continuity of the characters. Definitely one of my top authors and I’m already looking forward to book number 17.

When Kim gets a new case to solve the reader is in for a nail-biting trip with twists and turns. This is another excellent addition to the fabulous Kim Stone series, a series that is one of the best detective series ever. This time around Kim has to solve a repulsing case, and her own life is is not safe either.

What is it that brings be back to this series again and again? The brilliant writing, the well-thought-out story, excellent characters, utterly gripping and chilling criminals, and the thirst of needing to find out what happens next.

Angela Marsons has a way of playing with words that makes this book impossible to put down. I simply had to devour this book in one sitting, and it left me grasping for air, and now I am eagerly waiting for the next book. Angela kills... both people in her books and my ability to do anything else after I have started reading these books. Simply brilliant! Phenomenal!

Well, look, full disclosure: I'm a Black Country woman myself, and my admiration for Angela Marsons just grows and grows. I love that I can picture the places Marsons describes - I live in the middle of it - and, of course, that sense of realism in amongst what is a thrilling crime novel really makes it a great read for me. That said, I don't think you need to live in the Black Country to enjoy this twisty plot but the setting of a gritty, industrial Midlands region certainly helps with the atmosphere. With this, the 16th book in the Kim Stone series, I feel that the quality of the writing is at its peak - more of which I'll say later - and this is a highly readable page-turner of a novel. You don't have to know anything about any of the characters beforehand, even though 15 novels have gone before, so it works perfectly as a stand-alone whilst sneakily making you want to read the ones that went before. There are aspects of the narrative that are a tiny bit over-cooked in places. This seems to happens usually when a character says a bit of dialogue, the meaning of which is perfectly clear (because the dialogue is good) and it's followed by an explanation of what the character meant, which was perfectly clear in the first place. Not needed but only vaguely irritating. There are, however, equally, some really evocative turns of phrase.

If you're looking for a novel into which you can get absorbed and like crime/police procedural with a twisty plot, then this one is recommended. My grateful thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I didn't think it was possible for Angela Marsons to get better but this book surpassed all the preceding ones...it actually had me in tears! Full of complex twists, breathtaking suspense and breakneck speed I just couldn't put it down til the final shattering page ! Utterly brilliant!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Wow! My mouth is still hanging open! Detective Kim Stone is called to the scene of a tragic house fire. However, the scene is much more gruesome once they realize that each family member died of a gunshot wound and mom was holding the gun. She is also dead from an apparent suicide after slaughtering her own family. It seems open and shut, but everything may not be as it first appears. The race is on to figure out the true facts in this case. Detective Stone is not only in the midst of this investigation, but she is hiding/running from an escaped killer who escaped from prison. He definitely wants her dead. Symes is obviously a psychopath on a mission. This is a chilling story with mind bending turns and jaw dropping twists. The characters are complex but easy to relate to. Stone is a like a dog with a bone, and she is a brave woman who overcame the odds and obstacles of growing up in an abusive home in order to be a warrior and voice for those who suffer at the hands of evil in the world. It is a tense read that is thick with evil and secrets.

I love a Kim Stone novel. Six Graves is gripping and only start reading this book if you have time for reading straight through. You will not put it down.

I wish I could give more than five stars for this brilliant book.
I love the Kim Stone series but this book is my favourite so far.
It has everything I want in a crime thriller and I feel like I know the characters so well.
Due to a threat against her life, Kim is under the protection of Leanne but as we know, Kim likes to keep her private life, private, so this is her worst nightmare.
Neither woman likes the other and there’s some brilliant one liners from both exchanged during their time together.
As well as trying to stay safe, Kim and the team are trying to find out what happened to a family shot dead in their home.
Bryant, Stacey and Penn are on top form and Woody has to be firm in order to keep Kim away from the man trying to kill her.
This is a brilliant book in a fantastic series and if you haven’t ventured into the world of Kim Stone yet then you really need to.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Hard to believe this is the sixteenth book in the D.I Kim Stones series by author Angela Marsons. Each one has proven so entertaining and well written, the main character Kim Stone is an excellent character that grows with every book. This is another exciting read that I raced through eager to know what was going to happen.

Detective Kim Stone is called to the scene of an house fire where she discovers it has claimed the lives of two teenagers as well as their parents. On further examination it is discovered that each body is marked with a gunshot and mother Helen Daynes is holding the gun.

Kim herself had an abusive mother so the case brings back some painful memories for her personally and makes her even more determined to uncover the truth. It appears that Helen has an history of clinical depression, but would it be bad enough to see her kill the family she loved. Kim starts to try and piece together the evidence and when she discovers a vital clue in Helen’s bedroom it threatens to blow the case wide open. Could there be another explanation for the tragic deaths, was someone else responsible for the murders.

This is another excellent read and somehow this series just gets better. The familiarity of the characters makes it simple to instantly pick up from where you left off at the previous book. Excellent writing.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love, love, love this series, and this is the best one yet. I’m not afraid to say, but I had a tear in my eye, it was soooo emotional. I really can’t leave a lengthy review as I don’t want to spoil it for other readers. Just read it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. My thanks to Angela, Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Why would a mother kill her husband and teenage children? So many secrets and lies make this a hard case for Kim and the team.

When psychopath, Symes escapes from prison, DCI Woody insists Kim either goes into hiding or has a minder.

Will Kim be able to solve the case whilst needing to keep her wits about her? How will she deal with knowing Symes is after her, wanting to kill her?

Goodness me, this book had my heart pounding! There were lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. It is one of those books where you have to read it and nothing else matters - housework etc can wait!

This is another magnificent book from the author. Tense from start to finish.

My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

From the tantalising first chapter right through to the last, I was hooked by Six Graves. With a familiar cast of characters and the welcome return of an old character alongside the unwelcome return of another, Marson's has surpassed herself on this one.

With two storylines, each poignant and deviously plotted to result in a climactic ending, I found myself really drawn inot the narrative. The subject matter, whilst ,difficult is handled very sensitively and serves to highlight many issues around family dynamics, morality, greed and more.

I enjoyed getting to know Kim Stone even better than before. I welcome the fact that each Kim Stone novel offers the reader a little bit more insight into her very nuanced character and I believe it is Marson's ability to do this that keeps the series fresh, even after 16 books.

The relationships between the different characters is explored in Six Graves and I found that very satisfying as it gave Kim the chance to show some introspection. The fine balance between humour and the darkness of the subject matter is perfectly executed and I certainly look forward to Kim Stone 17.

This was a real page -turner for me. The elements of mystery alongside thrilling, heart pounding moments, and poignant down time, made this a thoroughly enjoyable read. 5***** from me.

“Get out again and I’ll be waiting. Next time I’ll kill ya.”

Can I just say that Angela Marsons, you are one messed up writer? I swear I almost died from the rollercoaster ride this story took me in. My gosh if I didn't know better I wouldn't have continued reading this story and stuck with that huge plot twist --- never knowing the real deal.

The premise of this story is the embodiment of suspense. I did not know what to think. Only that it was pure evil of Angela Marsons to have opened a story in such way. Kudos to that! From the beginning I've seen parallels in storytelling and character crafting to the renowned Stieg Larsson. This installment cemented that. Marsons’ genius in crafting a supposed to be finale then completely obliterating it is comparable to that utilized in the Millenium Trilogy.

Readers who have been following DI Kim Stone's journey will stand testament to this! It immediately grabbed my attention, and forced me to breeze through the story in only a few hours --- another of Marsons’ long-standing skills.

The writing style, as always, is immaculate. Funny, witty, and thrilling. Six Graves perfectly utilizes cliffhangers, giving it more of a mysterious air which the audience will absolutely love. Irony of all kinds is also abundant. So many facepalm moments that are worth all the fun!

I love love love how smooth each scene slides to another in Marsons narrative. Along with how she can inject comedy (effectively, I might add) into suspenseful backdrops! I also love love love Leanne (whom I abhorred previously!) Her character is to live for and the perfect match for...or maybe against Kim!

The story is rife with so much raw emotion. I think it's the most gripping one in that aspect yet of all of the series. I can't count how many times this story pulled at my heartstrings.

At this juncture, let me rephrase a previous statement: this story is the embodiment of suspense. Angela Marsons, you are a beast of a storyteller, an absolutely amazing writer.

I can’t believe this is the 16th book in the series! Another fast paced read, wanting to unravel the story. Nicely tied into a previous novel but could be read as a standalone.

Just Wow
What a brilliant, brilliant read
Oh Lordy the prologue! Just how can the author do this to the reader, you spend the whole book thinking nah it’s a bluff, then you get towards the end… is it a bluff, no!?? a double bluff! surely not!!
No spoilers here but by God this is a rollercoaster of a read - and that’s just the subplot.
The main plot is the investigation into a house fire in which a couple are killed but which quickly becomes much more than that. On it’s own this would be a great read but coupled with the rest of whats happening, you’ll not be putting this one down!
This is an excellent series which I’ve read and followed from the beginning, but this the 16th installment is just unbelievably brilliant

How does Angela Marsons write sixteen DI Kim Stone books and still keep it fresh?

DI Kim Stone and Bryant are called to a house fire only to discover the family killed are the victim of what looks like a murder/suicide.

Meanwhile sicko Symes (from a previous book) has escaped and he is out for revenge on Kim, who now has to be shadowed by protection officer Leanne King (from another previous book).

As always it's Stone's team - Bryant, Stacy and Penn - who are the strength of this book. They are all committed detectives with their complementary strengths. For the independent and fiesty Kim, they are also the only family she has, particularly Bryant who is her quasi big brother. Interestingly, Marsons throws in some discord, with a team training exercise revealing some fractuousness between two team members.

Yet again Marsons has had me glued from start to finish. Her writing goes from strength to strength, in large part because she has strong characters and lets them grow personally as well as professionally in each book. Too often I think writers fall in the trap of keeping their characters in stasis, and then it becomes formulaic and boring. Not so with this series. I look forward to the next.

Thank you again to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Some series which have been going as long as Angela Marsons' DI Kim Stone series can become stale and predictable. This most certainly is NOT the case here. Newe characters are introduced, others killed off, and the plots are always excellent. When four people are found dead following a house fire, Kim must decide cause of death and, if it is murder, look for the perpetrator. At the same time a person from her past is out of jail and looking for revenge! Intriguing from the start, this is a tremendous and thoroughly satisfying novel.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read an advanced copy of this book.
Yet another fantastic book featuring Kim Stone. I just love the way the author runs the two totally separate storylines at the same time, both making absolute fantastic reading on their own. I liked the “bodyguard” in the shape of Leanne makes an interesting addition.
Looking forward to Number 17 now.

I absolutely devoured this book in 2 sittings!
Detective Kim Stone goes to the scene of a house fire - but all the family have been shot dead. It looks like a murder-suicide, but could Helen Daynes really have killed her family and then turned the gun on herself?
Stone delves into the family, and find that Helen had a secret that has been hidden for years. And now the rest of the family are in danger.
Meanwhile a dangerous psychopath - who hates Stone - has escaped from prison, and Stone and her boss know that he’s only got one thing on his mind - to kill her!

A really good read - I thought I knew who had done it, but as usual Angela Marsons keeps us guessing. .
Thanks to #bookouture for the pre-release copy.

This is the first time I started reading Detective Kim Stone series and I have to say, this has become one of my favorite series even though I started from Book 16!

Kim Stone rushes to a crime scene where a house is on fire and two teenagers were found dead. The police suspect that Helen Deyner, the mother who has been suffering from clinical depression was responsible for the fire and deaths as the gun that was used was found in her hands. But when they find a clue, they believe that someone else was responsible for the murders. Meanwhile, a ruthless person from Kim's past comes back, determined to pay revenge on Kim...

From start to finish, I was literally hooked into the story. I can understand why this series became so popular. It was fast paced with twists and thrills that you didn't expect and the author has done a good job putting the reader at the edge of the seat. I felt like I was watching some sort of thriller movie on the TV and felt like going on a roller coaster ride while reading the book. The ending...the ending was completely unexpected--I did not expect that type of ending at all!! The book was really awesome and Detective Kim Stone has become one of my favorite detectives. Now I am literally looking forward to read more of Detective KIm Stone series.

Overall, if you like fast paced thrillers with a female police officer as a main character, then this book is one for you. Worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
