Bad Girl Reputation is a second-chance romance about high school sweethearts who spent most of their on/off relationship getting into trouble. Now that Genevieve is back in town, she wants people to see that she is different now, and needs to prove it to herself as well. Evan spent the time that she was away bed hopping and fighting. As they can't escape the chemistry between them, they have to decide who they are going to be now.
I enjoyed this novel and seeing people grow and change for the better. I think due to their history, there wasn't really a build-up of the emotions that you expect in romance. It was always there so I had a harder time becoming emotionally invested.
Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy Bad Girl Reputation as much as I enjoyed Good Girl Complex. I never felt connected to the main character, even though I sympathized with her dealing with her mother’s death. There just wasn’t that heart connection. The plot was fine, but the pace made the story feel slow.
I still really like Elle Kennedy’s books and would probably read the next book in the series.
Bad girl reputation is a nice spin on the average romcom. It was an extremely quick read. As my first Elle Kennedy book, I’m looking forward to reaching more from this author!
always hesitant about a sequel but i am very obsessed with this series! elle kennedy's books are always fun!
The chemistry between Evan & Gen - WOW! Immediately draws you in and takes you on a sexy rollercoaster ride. The plot wasn't too in-depth or developed, but the story between Gen & Evan was. This was my first smut book and certainly will not be my last!
As a sequel I was a little let down by this book. I was super excited for this book and to get more of Evan. Although I may have set my expectations too high. The first book was a great balance of both characters back stories and scenes together while getting to know secondary characters and I loved it. I feel like that was lacking a lot in this book and I was missing a lot of those characters in this book.
As a stand-alone I enjoyed the book and following these characters. It’s a fun easy read with lots of pining, some growth and fun characters that I hope to see more of!
I felt like this book was more interesting with the plot than the first one. I throughly enjoyed this one more. Elle Kennedy writing really takes you on a journey with her plot because you can really feel what the character is feeling while you're reading. I can't wait to read more from Elle Kennedy !!

“Bad Girl Reputation” is the second book in Elle Kennedy’s Avalon Bay series. This book tells the story of Genevieve West and Evan Hartley. Genevieve used to be rebellious. When she returns home for her mother’s funeral, she’s prepared to keep her distance from her ex-boyfriend, Evan Hartley. However, the two meet again and old sparks begin to fly. Although Genevieve tries her hardest to avoid Evan, Evan has other plans and believes they would be good together. Genevieve and Evan question if they can give their relationship a second chance.
I enjoyed Good Girl Complex and this was good as well! I enjoyed the tropes in this book (second chance and small-town). I also loved seeing the growth of the characters in the book. Seeing Genevieve and Evan grow both individually as well as together was really amazing to see.
Coming back to her hometown after a year and the sudden passing of her mother. So much has changed and she is trying to turn over a new leaf. But her attraction to her ex that she ghosted is still strong.
Genevieve had a really rough night and took off to a different town for a year. I totally get why she did that. I had a rough night in my hometown but I didn’t live there so I just didn’t drink there for awhile and didn’t drink for awhile. It takes a lot of reflection to process when you feel you caused a whole trainwreck of problems.
But when she comes back and sees her sweetheart again, who is really just her soulmate she doesn’t want to fall into that person anymore. He then goes on a mission to show her that he is worth it and will support her decisions. Kind of turns into a love triangle as she dates two guys who “will the best man win’s” her. And both are good options for her.
Though at the end the person they matched the one who ended up alone with was perfect.
Ugh that Sheriff was a toxic piece of trash. And using his authority to get her arrested or get her alone. Yuck – that’s what I am always scared of – I hate corruption. Society doesn’t work unless all the pieces are playing by the same rules.
Thank you stmartinspress and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
What if one drunken night made you take stock of your life? What if that made you run from everything you knew and the boy you loved in order to change?
A year after running from her old life and “bad girl” reputation, Genevieve returns home for her mother’s funeral. As with small towns, Genevieve is forced to face everything she left behind as she’s catapulted back into Evan’s life.
This was a fun read with a good amount of spice. Their chemistry was great, their banter was fun, and I loved the duel POVs. There were parts that I wish we got more of or went deeper into, as their relationship sometimes felt more like lust than something deeper, but all in all, it was a fun, easy read. If you love second-chance romance, definitely pick up this book!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
“My mind trips over random thoughts and sensations. The scent of his shampoo and motorcycle exhaust. His skin. Memories of it on my tongue. His fingers.
‘Don’t do that,’ he rasps in my ear.
‘What?’
‘Remember.’”
This book! I simply loved it. I loved Gen being a bad girl trying to be good. I loved the dynamic and chemistry between her and Evan. I love that he is a hot motorcycle guy with an equally hot identical twin. I loved the push/pull. The strength to the better. The perseverance. Did I mention the chemistry?
This second chance romance hits it out of the park! This is the second installment in the Avalon Bay series. It can definitely be read as a stand alone though, seeing as I loved it and I didn’t read the first one.
In addition to the ARC I was also given an ALC and I LOVED it! It is told with dual narrators which just adds that little bit of something something to the chemistry between these two. I would highly recommend the audio if you like to listen!
Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for the gifted copies in exchange for an honest review.
Genevieve West got herself out of town and out of a bad situation, one that included a constant push and pull with her ex-boyfriend Evan Hartley, friends who were bad influences, and a sheriff that had it out for her. Why would she want to ever return to her old ways? It's only when her mom passed away did she come back, and had to face the things she ran away from. Is she able to uphold her new reserved lifestyle when all that she left behind is staring at her in her face?
The relationship between Gen and Evan felt like every early 20s relationship that I had in college. The tension and passion between the two of them was palpable, and the steamy scenes were definitely something! I enjoyed the push and pull type relationship and loved the growth of the characters as well. I didn't realize that this was the second book in a series, but now can see that the author is leading up to a third for sure that I am going to get my hands on! I enjoyed the book, it was a quick easy breezy summer type read that had a good story with some good romance. I left wishing that there was just a bit more from the story, but it was still good.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
Thank you so much for an Arc of this beauty!
As someone newer to this genre, Elle Kennedy became an immediate favorite author and this book did not disappoint!
Bad Girl Reputation is the second book on Avalon Bay Series. I enjoyed Elle Kennedy’s writing. The first book was Good Girl Complex , following the love story of Mackenzie and Cooper and I thought it was great! Though I was excited for Cooper’s twin Evan to be highlighted in this second book with the ever notorious bad girl Genevieve West, I feel like the second book is less catchy than the first.
Anyway, Elle Kennedy’s writing always has a way of taking us to a great storytelling tour.. Just the right measure of conflict, the good banter with humor and of course the steam is perfect! It was nice to see the other characters still accounted for and I am looking forward to the third book.
Thanks To St.Martins Griffin via Netgalley for the ecopy to review!
Enjoyed this book. I had not read the first in the series but was able to read this one with no issues. Def has spoilers about the precious books HEA and conflicts but that’s my fault for skipping ahead. It actually made me want to go back and read the first one. I loved the relationship between the MC’s in this book. It’s not something I have read before and I loved it. Great read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Elle Kennedy’s books are mediocre at best. It wasn’t an original story and the characters were meh. I wouldn’t really recommend.
Bad Girl Reputation had everything I enjoy in an easy read romance: small towns, second chance romance, childhood friends to lovers and dual POVs.
Genevieve returns to Avalon Bay after the death of her mother. It’s a small town, so she quickly crosses paths with her on-and-off again childhood friend/love, Evan.
I struggled with this one, because it revolves around a lot of miscommunication, and in my opinion, unnecessary and immature drama. Gen and Evan obviously have chemistry but there was a lot of toxicity in their relationship and a lot of the other relationships in the book as well.
This is my first book by Elle Kennedy and I read this series out of order.
Thank you St Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Love the characters, love the storyline, love the development. Gen and Evan are so different and have so many layers, the story was interesting, refreshing. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading more. Beautifully written!
Bad Girl Reputation is a second-chance romance novel about two "rebels" Genevieve and Evan reconnecting after the death of Genevieve's mom. I really enjoyed the character growth of both characters and the increase in maturity of not only their relationship, but their relationship with other. At times, however, the "rebellious acts" seemed extreme, unrealistic, and didn't fit in the context of a "rebel with a heart of gold". The mentioning of these teenage escapades was also very repetitive. Unfortunately, I don't think this book was the right fit for me (30 year old woman) and may be better geared towards a younger 20 crowd. I have enjoyed Elle Kennedy's writing in the past, I believe this book just wasn't a good match for me. I still look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
I've always enjoyed Elle Kennedy's books. Another fun, easy read set in a lovely place. It wasn't my favorite but I liked it better than the first book in the series!
