Why did this remind me of a very sexual
Nicholas Sparks book?! Between the
local boy, bad cop & beach town. I was expecting some crazy ex to show up at some point and burn a building down.
Honestly Elle Kennedy's writing is so bingeable! I loved the first book in this series & it was fun to be back in Avalon Bay, but I didn't connect as well with these characters. I still really enjoyed this though. The character's are written so well, it’s hard not to get caught up in it all. The audio for the first one was phenomenal, but this one didn't hit the same note!
I've heard book three is the best out of the series! I can't wait to continue the series!
Unfortunately I did not finish this book. I read the first of the series and started this one. I am not a huge fan of high school romances.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc
I enjoyed this story, and series, a lot. This book was full of angst and Genevieve and Evan’s chemistry is explosive. I highly recommend it.
So good! I was so excited to get a copy of this sequel by Elle Kennedy. I thought it was just as good as the first one :)
This was my third book by this author and probably my last. I read the deal, good girl complex and this one and it was probably my least fave but I really haven’t loved any of them. I feel like the characters were flat and it’s just dude bros and banging. I do find the boy’s relationship with their mom interesting but that’s really about it. The covers are cute and they look like fun summer reads but overall meh.
3.5
Going into this I had high expectations because Elle Kennedy DUH! But it didnt read like the other Elle Kennedy books ive read and loved. Towards the end though I got some of those vibes which I loved.
Also I dint know this was part of a series before requesting it so I just got the first book to read! And after this one im looking forward to that:)
ELLE KENNEDY IS THAT GIRLLLLLL. I love her novels and this one is no different. The whole time I was reading it - I had "bad reputation" by Joan Jett going through my head lol. I definitely bought the physical copy of this one.
In “Bad Girl Reputation,” Genevieve returns home to her small beach town after her mother’s passing, reluctantly facing the memories of her past. Meanwhile, Evan, who’s spent the past year pining for Genevieve, sees her return as a chance for redemption.
While I didn’t love “Bad Girl Reputation,” the small-town beach vibes and second chance romance theme had their allure. I felt disconnected from Genevieve and Evan, although they were each likable in their own ways. Their communication issues and at times toxic relationship left me annoyed, yet strangely sucked into their story.
What did stand out to me was the seamless integration of characters from “Good Girl Complex,” the first book in the Avalon Bay series. I feel it added depth and continuity to the series. And while I found Genevieve and Evan’s relationship flawed, their growth and self-discovery throughout the story were undeniably endearing.
Would I pick up “Bad Girl Reputation” for a second read? Probably not. But for those who enjoy a blend of small-town drama, beachy settings, and imperfect romances, this might just be the ticket.
Kennedy's ability to infuse humor and heart into every scene while never shying away from tackling deeper themes of self-discovery, forgiveness, and redemption. The pacing is excellent.
I really enjoyed Elle Kennedy's hockey series when I was first getting into reading romance - but this book by Elle did not do it for me.
I love a second chance romance but I found the main character to be a chore and I didn't feel the connection between the two. It felt forced.
Genevieve returns to her old hometown to be there for her mothers funeral. She is going to be there only a few days and then leave. She wants nothing to do with her ex Evan better yet she doesn't even want to see him. So when she does see him it brings back all the memories they shared together. This is not good she decides because their relationship is just toxic. Evan wants to prove to Gen that he has changed and he is a better person.
This was just an okay read for me. While I enjoyed the chemistry between Remi and Mason, and the humor sprinkled throughout, I found myself not as engaged as I had hoped. The story felt a bit predictable at times, and I didn't connect with the characters as much as I had hoped. Overall, it was a decent read, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
4 Stars!
Second chance romance is totally my jam... but when you add a mix of redemption and personal growth, humor and LOL moments and sweet and sexy too... it’s the perfect combination that will put a smile on your face and give you all the feels.
Elle Kennedy is one of my absolute favorite authors and I couldn’t wait to read Gen and Evan’s story. Both characters with a past who have had that side of bad girl bad boy reputation, who needed to grow as individuals to become better versions of themselves...and boy did they grow.
I love the push and pull and that despite Gen wanting to keep Evan at an arms distance she couldn’t help herself because there was just something about him that was always hers. And vice versa.
I love their wit and humor...I loved the side characters most especially Riley and Evans growth when it came to being a mentor to this boy.
I love this town, this group of friends and I can’t wait to get more of the secondary characters stories and HEAs.
I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 bec while I love Elle Kennedy books this one was missing some of that heat factor that I have gotten from other books and I would have loved more sexy time between the characters. Overall though a great addition to the series...so fun!
I’ve discovered with this book that elle kennedy is only for me if its her hockey series. this wasn’t it for me.
I enjoyed this book. It had a few laugh out loud moments and over all a fun read. My only problem was a few of character got on my nerves. It's a quick, easy and perfect getaway read.
Definitely not my favorite Elle Kennedy book. I did not feel the connection with the characters like I did in the Off Campus series.
I typically love Elle Kennedy but I have really struggled to connect to her characters or be invested in the love stories in the Avalon Bay series. Gen was not particularly likeable and her family dynamics were not relatable while Evan comes off as almost problematic in his pursuit. Ultimately, this story did not land for me.
I wanted to like this book so much more than I did.
I usually really love and enjoy Elle Kennedy books (except for the Legacy; do not even speak to me about that book 🫠) but this one just fell flat for me.
I didn’t really feel like there were any big stakes in this. No action, no real drama. I didn’t really connect with the characters.
I loved Good Girl Complex, so I’m bummed I didn’t like this one nearly as much.
I’m glad I crossed it off my physical TBR, but I wouldn’t read it again.
Elle Kennedy does it again with a perfect romcom! I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed every page. Kennedy really does no wrong in the romance department.
I finally got to return to Avalon Bay and it was pretty enjoyable! I wasn't as excited about this story as I was the first one. I felt like the main characters had great chemistry but the pushes for the FMC to get out there and date and be around drinking fell a little short for me.
