Genevieve & Evan are every bit a toxic relationship. They grew up together, and as teenagers were constantly breaking up only to make up & then do it all over again. Their pull towards one another was strong! But when Gen comes back to town after a sudden departure a year ago, Evan finds himself pulled right back, & it’s Gen this time that’s hitting the breaks.

Was this a 5-star read? Not even close. Was it quick paced, entertaining, & steamy? Most definitely. Were there toxic traits that seemed to be glossed over a little too easily? Probably so. I wasn’t reading this book for a deeper substance & sometimes you just want an angsty romance to pull your head away from reality for a bit. This story definitely delivered in that aspect.

I really, really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! This is the second in Kennedy’s Avalon Bay series, but stands alone pretty well if you haven’t read Good Girl Complex yet. I enjoyed this story more than Good Girl Complex!

Bad Girl Reputation is the story of Gen and Evan, who have a powerful, passionate relationship that is filled with adventure but also a lot of recklessness. They don’t bring out the best in each other and, in an effort to get her life together, Gen leaves without a word for over a year before returning back home when her mom dies. The book starts at the point she returns home.

Gen is just an effortlessly interesting person. She’s the only girl in her family with 5 brothers, and she embodies the Fuck Around and Find Out Society that Kennedy coins. She is struggling to stay sober in a way that isn’t sad or sick, but more about not using alcohol to fuel or define who she is as an adult.

I really enjoyed the way Kennedy writes about Avalon Bay. Coming from a small touristic beach town with a college nearby myself, it reads very authentically. Even down to the power-tripping asshole cop! I appreciated that unlike GGC, Gen worked a normal job in a normal family business that isn’t at all glamorous, doesn’t require magic or inherent talents, and doesn’t make her an instant millionaire.

The spice and the banter in general between Gen and Evan is so, so good. I love the way Kennedy shows how deep their relationship is through their conversations and humor. I smiled and laughed out loud at what I was reading between them more than once!

💭What I liked: Like all of Elle Kennedy's books, the characters had an unexpected amount of depth. They both had complicated relationships with their parents that played out throughout the book. What I liked most about this book though was that Evan and Genevieve were unlikely protagonists: love drunk teenagers with wild streaks that had to lose each other to find themselves. It was a story about second chances in life and love and fighting to change the perceptions of the people around you.

What I didn't: Evan and Genevieve had a unique story but I didn't connect much with their characters. This book is fantastic for readers that love bad boys and second chance romances. It was an enjoyable read but I didn't love this series as much as Off Campus (also by Kennedy).

This was neither good nor bad, but it was certainly pretty boring. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes so maybe I’m being a little tough on it for that reasons but this book just really fell flat for me. Not much happened and I just didn’t care much for the little that did. I suppose it was nice to see Gen and Evan shed their bad girl/boy reputations and turn a new leaf for the better. Also, was Cooper this annoying in the first book and I just forgot? I think my favorite part was Cooper and Evan’s mom’s redemption arc. Another thing, how old are these characters? Because I think they’re like 20 but they do not come off that age at all. I think I’ve finally realized that Elle Kennedy’s books just aren’t for me.

I was expecting to love this one just as much as the Good Girl Complex, but it didn't hit the same. I thought it was going to be more interesting. It just didn't keep me invested some of it was incredibly fluffy and I didn't really connect with the self-improvement plot line. I didn't absolutely care about the romance between the two main characters. It was just fine but a lot of the plot moved very slowly and I didn't care as much about the couple as in the first one.

I expected to like it more than I actually did.

Oh, this book is bad, I couldn't even get through 5% of it before I needed to put it as a DNF. Just not a fan of Elle Kennedy's writing.

I was really looking forward to this book, and while it was a fun read, it left a lot to be desired. It's a solid three star book, but it was not as good as its predecessor. The relationship wasn't fully developed in the story, and much of the plot line revolved around the idea that the two MCs had been in a relationship for years. I also didn't like the ending (won't spoil it). I felt like it came out of left field and was not at all consistent with the tone or progression of the story. I also just found the whole book cringey...not Elle Kennedy's best work IMO!

Where do I begin? I fell in love with Evan in the Good Girl Complex, so of course I had to get my hands on this book!

Evan's character really grew throughout this book. You can really see him become a man and learn that growing up isn't that bad. His relationship with Riley was so freaking sweet. I loved the scenes of those two.

As for Gen, she got a bad rap in the first book. You could tell there was a lot of negativity surrounding her. When we got her POV in this book, it was like I wanted to hate her, but she went through so much trauma that I understood why she left. I couldn't help but root for her.

The story line is good, but the climax could have been stronger. Overall, it was a great read! Maybe we can even get a book about Wyatt and Tate!

Everyone knows by now (and if you don’t, you’re about to) how much I love a good angsty, tension filled romance and second chance stories. There’s just something about the buildup that happens between 2 characters who have so much history with one another that really makes a story for me. Reading this one brought me back in time and had me singing “My Boo” the whole time. (Please tell me you all know that song …)

Oohh the Hartley twins. Major heart eyes for them. I loved Evan in Good Girl Complex and was so excited to get my hands on his story. However, in the beginning until about halfway through, my eyes rolled hard at how annoying Evan was. I’m all for the possessive, bad-boy, “she’s mine” type of character, but there were times where I just wanted to tell him off. During and after his transformation and development, I ended up liking him again. I really loved Gen’s character and her commitment to her growth and maturity. She reminded me a little of myself back in the day (😏). I was looking for a little bit more in the story, but all in all, I enjoyed it. 3.5 ⭐️ (rounded to 4)

Overall it was an entertaining, light read. I enjoyed the story but was really wanting more emotional depth out of the two main characters. I also wanted to be transported to the books beach location, Avalon, NJ. I appreciate the ARC and did like the overall redemption message of the book.

📖What actually happens:

Genevieve is back in the bay. Her mother whom she had a rocky relationship at best has died and Evan fucking Hartley has to show up to the funeral looking like sex on a stick. Gen is desperately trying to change her spots. But bad girl reps are hard to shake.

Evan has had a hole in his heart since she left. The great love of his life, how could she run away from him without a peep. He is determined to convince her that they belong together. They are better as a couple than apart.

🗯Thoughts:

Brace yourself for a spicy end of summer romance. Reading this I felt the wet salt air on my face and smelt campfire. The heat of the summer perfectly reflected the sizzle that Genevieve and Evan brought. Delish!

I really enjoyed Good Girl Complex but holy moly is Cooper an unmitigated jackass in this book. How did I tolerate him in the first 😂 he’s all grumpy with no sexiness.

This was not the book I expected it to be, but it wasn’t a disappointment, not by a long shot. Evan was endearing and fucked up and unmistakably a GOOD person. Just a little lost. Which, taking into account his age and circumstances, so what? It took him a minute but he caught on.

Gen was a trip. She was trying so hard but she was so reluctant to accept her own progress. While I don’t agree with a few decisions she made, I don’t judge her; what do I know about how it is to be in life? I was so proud of her regardless.

This was a light, fun read that was the level of sexy I wish Elle Kennedy’s other books were.

MVP: Gen’s dad. Man was out here trying his absolute best.

I love Elle Kennedy — the way that she uses dual narration to tell a story is beautiful. However, this book fell flat for me. Gen is a bad girl turned good girl, who is trying to re-start her life in her home town. Evan is her bad boy ex who she left behind. There’s no denying that they have a connection… But there’s not conflict, growth, or heart pulling moments. If the emotions in the last 10% of the book could be replicated in the rest of the novel, we would be set!

Overall, it is worth the read — even just to check in on Mac and Cooper. But it’s a bit of a miss for me.

I love a good summer romance book and that’s exactly what this book captures. The spice level is perfect, but my top favorite part about the book is the tension between Genevieve and Evan. Both trying to grow up rid of their pasts and become better people for each other. I didn’t catch on until the end of the book that it was actually about forgiveness and second chances, the going back in forth was them not wanting to let go and I love that♥️

This is the 2nd book in the Avalon Bay series, so I made sure to read Good Girl Complex first…just in case. It can be read as a standalone though, similar to her Off-Campus series.

I don’t typically go for college-aged romance. Probably because I am old enough to be their mom now lol! But I enjoyed the Off-Campus series so I wanted to give this one a try. No one will compare to Garrett in The Deal, but I still enjoyed this one. It follows Genevieve and Evan, who have been on and off since high school. They connect after a year apart, and try to change their toxic behaviors to be together. They definitely made some questionable decisions along the way (who in their early 20s hasn’t?), but it ends with a HEA.

Only reason I wouldn’t give it a full 5 stars (rounding up in the rating though) is it felt rushed at the end. I would have liked to see a little more time for them to grow separately before jumping right back into a relationship. Overall, it was a cute quick read, and this would make a great beach or vacation book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this rollercoaster ride of a novel!

My favorite books tend to be character driven so it's no surprise that I enjoyed this one. First, I would like to thank Net Galley and Elle Kennedy for the ARC, it was an honor to read and love these characters before release day. Now, let me tell you why I enjoyed Bad Girl Reputation.

Bad Girl Reputation will have you wanting to throw your kindle across the room, not kidding. But, that's what makes a book good to me. I was feeling all the emotions while reading it. Gen and Evan were so relatable. Their chemistry was insane and I couldn't stop reading all the drama that was unfolding. I simply couldn't put it down.

This book takes us through the growth development of two characters, Gen and Evan. They have tons of history, good at times, but mostly bad, as in they were always partying it up and getting into trouble. Gen finds herself at rock bottom and decides enough is enough, so she's leaves without a goodbye, leaving Evan with a broken heart. A year passes by and Gen is back home to help pick up the pieces after her mother's death. She is determined to stick with her soberity while Evan is determined to win her back, but Evan hasn't changed. If Evan wants his girl back he's going to have to prove himself.

I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I did! Add it to you TBR; It releases Oct 4th.

I really enjoyed Good Girl Complex, so I was so honored to receive an e-arc for the sequel. I had a lot of fun reading this book. This story is about Genevieve, who is a former bad girl, who has to go back to her hometown for her mother's funeral; she hopes she doesn't have to end up running into her ex-boyfriend, Evan while being back home, but obviously, she does. I am a sucker for a second chance romance, and this book really delivered. The characters were great, and the chemistry between Genevieve and Evan was impeccable. I recommend this to anyone who loves second-chance romance novels because this one was really enjoyable and fun. This novel comes out on October 4, 2022, and I have already pre-ordered my copy.

This book is the perfect romance to let you just turn your brain off for a bit and enjoy the ride. Elle Kennedy is a master at writing characters, I fall in love with and create such amazing arcs for them. We heard a lot about "bad girl" Genieve from the last book, so I had a certain image of her going into this one. I love how her entire journey revolves around personal growth and that growth inspires her on-again/off-again boyfriend Evan to turn his life around. They both have a history with each other and seeing them work to break bad habits was inspiring.

I think this can be read as a standalone, but I appreciated having the background knowledge of Coop/Mac's story from the last one! This was a fun summer romance to read, and Im excited for others to get the chance to discover Evan/Gen's story this fall.

This book was an enjoyable quick read - a second chance romance between two people who probably shouldn't be together but who's chemistry undoubtedly kept them from being unable to completely be over each other. Gen and Evan have always had a rocky relationship and, even though Gen has tried to move on, this bad boy just stays in her heart. The ups and downs of this story kept it interesting and, even though the character growth was slow, their progression towards being an actual couple that could be together was what kept me turning the pages. There are a lot of serious topics in this book that added depth to the story. And although I wish some of them had been flushed out a bit more, of course, I understand they weren't the main point of the story. Overall, I enjoyed the book and even though I'm not convinced that Gen and Evan are forever...but I'm good with them being "for now" and look forward to hearing more about them in future installments of this series.

Elle Kennedy has been one of my top favorite author to read. Her stories always consume me, the writing style is amazing, so it was no brainer that I was going to love this book too!

Since reading the first book I was hooked on knowing what happen with Gen and Evan. Since Gen name wasn't not even suppose to me mentioned, that intrigued me to know why! But when I finally got my hands on the book and started reading it, it was missing the story line for me. The only thing the characters had in common was chemistry. As a second chance romance, which is my favorite genre, didn't give me the aspect of that. I think there was a lot of back and forth, very immature, their romance was doing more harm then good.

Gen was a wild child since she could walk. always getting in trouble, living her best life, not having a care in the world. And Evan was just along for the ride, showing Gen a good time. following her on every adventure because he couldn't get enough of her.
When Gen got up and left town after a horrible decision, she up and left Even with out a good bye too. Evan was brokenhearted. started not to to give a fuck and became more of a bad boy then before.
After a year passed by and Gen shows up back in town for her mom funeral, she trying to prove to everyone she's out grown her bad girl reputation by also dating a good boy but she can't resist the pull between her and Evan and ends up being chased by both.
Their relationship was the definition of toxic but that didn't stop Evan for falling in love with Gen all over again. Evan tried his best to show Gen that he could change and show that he can grow up and show a level of stability with having a good time and also be responsible.

Overall, there was to much going on for them to actually end up together. I saw this story going to a different ending, just because there wasn't much story for them. Their immaturity was lacking the love aspect that they had for each other. I wish this book gave me more of a get together at the end vibe and over come their mistakes together instead of failing each other to be apart
