As a big Joel Osteen fan, I really enjoyed this book. Osteen has a way of making believers - young and old - feel encouraged on the journey before them. This book is a great read for someone who needs to be reminded of the goodness of God and how their story isn't over yet. Strongly recommend!
This book will challenge your perception of your present situation and inspire you to persevere for the best that’s just ahead. Good things will be coming your way. Whatever you’ve been waiting for, working for, praying for, and hoping for is on the way.
I love how Pastor Osteen can lift me out of the depths of my bad moods and make me feel a little better about life as a whole. I think that this book would be helpful to anyone despite their religious affiliation. Thank you to NetGalley and FaithWords for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.
I pretty much own every Joel Osteen book that has every been published, and I highly recommend him to everyone. I think that even if you aren't religious, there are still gems for someone to gleam from his books and the inspirational stories he tells contained within them. 'Your Greater is Coming' has all of Joel Osteen's trademark inspiration and practicality, which makes it such a helpful and inspiring and hopeful read. It might be my favorite one of his yet, and the subject matter is so important and timely, and every person could benefit from this book. Who doesn't want to believe that their greater is coming?! I really am very honored that I was able to review an ARC for this, and have learned how to think more positively, abundantly, and hopefully, and have been putting into practice the practical steps/tips outlined in this book. I hope Joel Osteen continues to write, and if he does, I will always buy them, and suggest them, and give them for presents! Christmas is coming up, and this would be a great gift to give to everyone in your life! Ten stars - he truly is a remarkable writer and I my mood and spirit are always lifted after reading just a single page of his writing, I will repeat myself because I believe this to be true: everyone should own a copy of this book, and read it twice or three times a year. Your outlook on life will change, and so will your life.
Joel Osteen turns out encouragement on a consistent basis, and I’m grateful. Your Greater Is Coming is an inspiring reminder not to give up - that no matter what we’ve been through or where we are in life, if we’re still alive, God is still working and has purpose and meaning for our lives. The timing of this book is great as we all come out of the pandemic wondering how to move forward, and there’s a real struggle to hope for the future rather than focus on what we missed and lost. This book is a great resource for anyone who needs some help with hope.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book.
Suffering happens. Osteen does not deny it but he does give his understanding of why suffering happens. It is necessary, he says, because some levels God has for us can only be obtained after difficulties. It is sometimes how God gets us out of our comfort zone and into a new place of faith for a new opportunity in ministry or something else God has for us. He uses biblical stories as well as stories from his life and the lives of others to illustrate his teaching.
Osteen emphasizes our attitude as essential in successfully coming out the other side of suffering. He encourages readers to believe God's promises. One must believe in faith even when there is no visible evidence things have changed. “You have to be more confident in what God says than in what you see.” We must not lose heart or lose faith. Part of the test, Osteen says, is that it might get worse just before the promise is manifested.
I am glad Osteen encourages us to ultimately trust God. God has us in His palm. “Nothing can happen to you without His permission.” This is a good book to read when having difficulties although Osteen does come close to a name it and claim it kind of belief. That will not be the message if readers also keep God first, as Osteen encourages. The book is a little repetitive as Osteen covers the same idea from a number of approaches.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Loved this book to bits! Talk about inspirational and motivational! Joel Ostend has once again used his faith to create another thought-provoking and emotional read that will pull at your heartstrings and make you really think about your life, your faith, and the future. Such a great read!! Would highly recommend!!
I want to give it three stars because I liked the cover and the overall message I really liked but the stories were repetitive. The chapters were quick and this might be a good read if you planned to do it as a devotional or read a chapter a month. Reading quickly just felt like groundhog’s day.
I rarely give such a low rating but a really struggled with this one. Sorry to NetGalley for not providing better feedback.
