i thought this was a wonderful book with interesting colorful characters and so many twists and turns but never to many that if felt it cheapened the story. Every twist along the way gave me new view into the characters.. I thought the writing was witty and sharp and i enjoyed the setting as well as the flash forward and not knowing until the end who had died and also who thought they where responsible, i loved watching this friendship group tear itself apart during this weekend and also coming to terms that they haven't been true friends in longer then they care to count. i also loved the ending twist although i found Holly to be the most annoying character and at the end i found myself really disliking her but I'm going to assume that was the point.
A group of women go away for a few days for a hen do. What could possibly go wrong?!
When I started reading this I found it to be an easy read and found the story to be engaging.
However my main problem I had with this book is the characters.
I felt like none of them had a unique voice and they all blurred into the same person.
It was incredibly difficult to keep track of who is who and I would find myself constantly flicking back to check who was talking (I also had to do this mid chapter as I would forget who was having a conversation with who).
I found this to be incredibly frustrating and it really spoiled my enjoyment of this book.
The ending was a let down and I felt it could have been better.
This is one of those books that is not bad, but it's not great either.
The definition of a 3 star for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
3 stars!
I really enjoyed and got engrossed with this story from the start and really liked how it was set out and finding out all the characters secrets and what they were hiding.
Somewhere towards the end it fell from a 3.5 read as the ending just didn't match up to how I was enjoying it from the start, but really did like the story!
Holly is getting married and she invites her friends on a weekend getaway before she says I do. They stay at an upscale secluded cottage. All the friends Martha, Zoe, Suzanne and Toni have dark secrets. Before the weekend is over, one of the friends end up dead. All the friends are a suspect. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was the first time reading a book by this author. The twist in the book had me on the edge of my seat and then the ending blew me away. I will definitely read another one of her books.
Thank you for this ARC. I have not read anything by this author before, so I was intrigued. At the beginning I did find it confusing as to who was who but once I got round this I was hooked. Will look forward to reading other books by this author.
This was a very enjoyable story. A group of friends get together for Holly's hen party, but they all have secrets from their pasts which get revealed as the weekend progresses with terrible consequences.
I read it in one night, as it was a real page turner. However, I'm still not sure who the unnamed narrator was, as the voices weren't always particularly distinctive.
What an absolute train wreck of friendships! Good lord almighty this was a disaster I couldn’t look away from, in a good way. I flew through this book it was a super easy read and you had information flying at your face that next thing you know you’re done with the book and trying to catch your brain up with all the absolute havoc that was created!
Holly is about to get married and her close friends have thrown her a bachelorette party. Claire, Martha, And Toni have all been friends with Holly since they were little girls. Then there is Suzanne who appeared later in Holly’s life and last but not least there is Zoe who works with Holly. Every. Single. One. Has a secret and are all a cow of a friend. It is told in multiple point of views and if you’re in the mood for a high drama and girl banter this one is for you!

The concept of this book looked so good!
A group of hens out to celebration their friend getting married. However, all the friends have secrets and as the weekend progresses, these secrets slowly start to unravel....
To begin with, I was truly invested, you are given small snippets and with the use of multiple pov, it really helps the reader to sympathise with the characters. However..... I just found that there were so many secrets and too many reveals, that the reader can't fully process or appreciate them in the way I think the writer intended.
I was really disappointed with this one.
I really wanted to love this. I really thought I would. But there were way too many POVs for me to get into it. I found it confusing to keep up. In my opinion, if a story requires more than two POVs , it should be written in 3rd; I'd have enjoyed that more.
I didn't find any of the characters likeable. The twists were not really twisty. A bit predicable and unbelievable at the same time.
Great writing, and that cover is TO DIE FOR!
This one just wasn't for me, but I will definitely give this author another chance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.
The Bridesmaids is a tale of bride-to-be Holly and her crew of bridesmaids that set off for a weekend away to celebrate at a hen party (bachelorette party for all you Americans out there). What they don't count on is getting tangled up in their web of decades old secrets while they're supposed to be celebrating.
The setup of a hen party in a remote area actually quite reminded me of Ruth Ware's In A Deep Dark Wood.
I usually love books that are told from multiple perspectives, but in The Bridesmaids that structure was not executed well. None of the characters had a unique voice, leading to confusion and frustration. I found myself constantly flipping back through the pages to the beginning of the chapter to see who's perspective I was reading.
If you love drama and secrets with layers, this book still may be for you, but it was difficult for me to get through.

First book I've read by Victoria Jenkins - currently looking more more! This is a brilliantly written suspense thriller - it kept me reading until 1 am! I don't want to give anything away - get you a copy and read it for yourself!! I absolutely loved it.
Victoria Jenkins has done it again.
This twisty book is told from several perspectives over the course of a bridesmaid weekend in the country at a fabulous house. When an unexpected member of the party turns up dead, most of the women not only have motive, but also opportunity.
A really enthralling book with interesting characters and fast moving action. I would definitely recommend.
This thriller started out a little confusing for me, based on all the POV changes in the story. But, as the reading progressed I grew more and more involved with the characters and was kept on the edge of my seat guessing who did it!
The beginning of the book starts with a dead body in a pool. I wondered from that moment- who was the killer? What was the motive? The author then starts delving into the lives of all the female narrators and their points of view on the event. I loved receiving tiny bits of information from each character until I was able to (try) and put the pieces together. I loved the author's descriptive narration and complex characters. This was a good read!
The bridesmaid by Victoria Jenkins.
Holly is set to marry Aaron. She is at a cottage with her bridesmaids for the weekend. One of them is murdered. Who did it? Will they be able to stay friends afterwards with all the secrets and lies?
Omg couldn't put it down. I had no clue who it was and I was trying to guess. Very cleverly written. 5*.

Oh, the drama. This was an engaging story to say the least; highly unlikeable characters, dirty secrets, and a little twist to spice up the ending.
The writing style felt a little on the nose; the point-of-views and chapters seemed to meld together in a way that it seemed like the characters all shared the same voice, thoughts, and stream of consciousness.
Annoying writing style aside, it was enjoyable till the end. I was more gripped by the secrets than the curiosity of finding out about the murder, and it was a tad bit expected by the end when the murder finally happened (the perpetrator included). However, the epilogue sealed the deal, I suppose. It was tragic in so many ways, frustrating and utterly cuckoo (pun very much intended).
This thriller was a 5 star rating for me. I loved that it was told from different perspectives and it was twisty right from the beginning. Each of the characters brought something (even when it was unlikeable) to the story and it kept me guessing to the end. Brilliant!
A hen weekend has been organised for Holly and her five bridesmaids, Claire, Toni, Martha, Suzanne and Zoe. Everything is planned and they are all set to go when Toni announces that she won’t be able to come due to a problem with her 19-year-old daughter, Georgia. The group, not wanting Toni to miss out on the weekend, agree for Georgia to come along with them. The weekend has been planned by Martha and the accommodation is luxurious and there has been no expense spared. The story is told from the points of view of all the different characters, and whilst this sounds confusing it really isn’t! It’s also told from two different timeframes, “now” where the book begins and the past. I did like how the “past” slowly counted down throughout the chapters, so it eventually caught up to the present-day storyline!
The book begins with a shock when a body is found in the swimming pool of the accommodation where the women are staying. It’s obvious it’s one of them, but the author does a great job of not revealing which one until almost the end! None of the women are particularly likeable if I’m honest, and they all have their own secrets, issues and flaws which are revealed as their individual storylines move on. The pace of the story was good throughout and my attention was held with the short, snappy chapters, ensuring I kept turning the pages!
I have to admit, as I read, I thought I’d worked it all out, but the storyline wasn’t as predictable as I thought it was going to be. The author did a great job of throwing in some misleads and dead ends, and the storyline twisted and turned, proving me wrong on so many occasions. I was surprised by the reveals of the women’s secrets and loved how it all linked into together by the turn of the last page. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and found myself unable to put it down, finishing it in less than a day. Filled with lies, secrets and revenge, this book will keep you guessing to the end! The moral of the story – don’t trust anyone, not even your best friends!! Would recommend!
Holly is getting married, but not before a celebration weekend with her closest friends. After a night of arguments, a body is found floating in the swimming pool of their secluded cottage. Holly must face up to the truth – one of her bridesmaids is a killer, but which one?
Wow! This was an excellent thriller that I could not put down. Full of twists and turns, this book had me guessing from the very beginning! Everyone has a secret and as the reader you are given little breadcrumbs here and there until all truths are revealed - and boy are there a lot of them! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thriller!
I loved this book! Such a twisty thriller. I work a lot of weddings, and actually read this one partially in my car before heading in to work a wedding. Victoria Jenkins is an author I will continue to watch!
4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a wreck! I was not expecting what unfolded to in fold. I recommend this to anyone who likes to guess what is going to happen next. I didn’t see anything that happened coming and many are guilty.
