I tried with this book, seeing that my obsession with Jamie Fraser got the best of me when I was requesting this book.
The writing style was not for me, and at times I got tired of James' lines. There's only so much Scottish verbatim I can endure (even loving the accent!).
There was nothing wrong with the story itself, I just didn't connect to it.

The story maintains a clean tone, with the romance focusing more on emotional connection than physical chemistry. The light, heartwarming narrative makes it an enjoyable read, particularly for those who appreciate sweet, low-drama romances. Overall, Scotsman in the Stacks is a short and delightful read for romance lovers who enjoy charming small-town settings and a dash of cross-cultural love.

The love interests didn't have chemistry, so I quickly lost interest and the slang was so overdone I was annoyed most of the time.

The premise was adorable - bookish main characters in books are always a lovely meta experience for me. And I love an FMC that learns to recognize her worth and stands for what she wants. And if the boyfriend can't be what she needs, she's absolutely right to kick him to the curb.

I enjoyed that there was drama, without it being blown out of proportion. The conflicts felt realistic, which is refreshing in romance. Often even if the characters are more grown up the drama feels like listening to 14-year-olds in their first relationship. That being said, perhaps the characters got along a little too well and the scenes sometimes felt somewhat stagnant. Conflict and resolutions are what makes the characters interesting and builds their relationship.

This book was good, but it definitely was too risqué for me and lacked a plot. I will not be posting

a charming romance but ultimately one that didn't engage me enough to continue with. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

"Scotsman in the Stacks" is a delightful and charming contemporary romance novel. The story revolves around a charismatic Scotsman who finds himself entangled in the world of books and libraries. The author skillfully weaves humour, romance, and a touch of bookish charm to create an engaging narrative. The characters are well-developed and endearing, and the romantic tension adds an enjoyable layer to the plot. The library's setting provides a unique backdrop, and readers who appreciate a blend of romance and bibliophilic elements will likely find this book delightful. Oof, this was a tough one. Obviously it took me awhile to pick up this book. But unfortunately, I couldn't get into it. I wasn't invested in the characters or their story at all, and I didn't vibe with the writing style. This just wasn't for me, which is unfortunate when I had it hanging out for so long...

A light read that was easy to get through. This was a great book to read for anyone needing a pick me up. The main charcters are lovable and they will quickly grow on you. A great story about finding love at any stage.

I was NOT a fan of the artwork on this cover. It kinda creeped me out. That being said, the book was really great and the humor mixed throughout had me laughing out loud.

I felt this book had little depth. I do come to romances for fun, fast stories but I couldn't remember much about this one after having read it. I found myself wanting to hear more about the library and its patrons and less about the actual romance which is a problem when reading a romance book.

The premise of the story is what captured my attention and had me excited to read. However, the execution really let me down. While I loved the relationship between Paige and her best friend I wanted more of the relationships between Paige/James and the patrons of the library. I also found the pacing and writing of the book made it feel like a slog to read while also wanting more details. Overall its a very quick, beach read that would be fun for a trip but is very forgettable.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in return for an honest review.

DNF’ed this book. Let’s just say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I thought this was going to be a cute romance but overall the story was a bit boring and I couldn’t keep reading. Definitely disappointed.
