Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
The book felt a bit like the cover looks - half baked, like it´s trying to jump on a hype train and (kind of) missing it.
I had hoped for a bit more... MORE of this. The writing style fell a bit short for me and I didn´t really feel a connection with the characters. Just an okay read for me, sadly.
This, absolutely, is not my cuppa tea!! Too shiny for me!
I gave it three 🌟 just to be fair, and not under-rate it, just for the reason that I'm into "spices and some darkness mood"
A librarian just got out from a long term relationship that was going nowhere, and just in the time where she was planing to find a partner, get married and start a family; a charming Scottish artist enter the library, but he was there only for the summer...
A sweet rom-com with a happy ending, drama free and all lovey dovey
I skipped a few scenes to get to the end and almost did not finish. It had all the pieces of a story that I would have liked, but somehow it did not feel like a cohesive story. The central couple were not as convincing as I hoped them to be.
If I had read it in its entirety, I could have provided a more in-depth review.
2.5 stars
Don’t love the way they do James’ dialogue. I get the Scottish accent needs to come through but it’s the spelling and needing to sound it out to understand.
Fashion mentions in books can go a few ways. But khaki capris and a floaty white blouse with cherry blossoms - not at all a sexy date outfit.
Hard to tell if this is closed door or they just never had sex.
The ending. Never had big fall out or drama, which is refreshing. But it also wasn’t super satisfying.
I received this book for free for an honest review from Netgalley.
Sexy and fun and I love the cartoon covers there's some of my favorites. The Romance story behind this book was really great.
Thanks to NetGalley and 8N Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I had high hopes for this book, especially with the promise of a man with an accent, and a library setting. There was nothing wrong with this book, but nothing really jumped out at me that made it great. The plot seemed better suited to a Netflix romcom than a book, a vehicle where we could have enjoyed the accent and the chemistry of the characters. If you're looking for something quick and light, this is for you.
Such a cute and fun romance. I'll read anything with a Scotsman love interest! I finished this months ago and am not sure why I haven't written my review yet. But I found it to be an enjoyable read, quick and easy. I had previously sworn off any more librarian / book shop character romances, but I'm glad I gave this one a chance, because it was worth the read - funny and entertaining. Recommend for any romance fans looking for a quick rom-com with a Scottish accent!
Scotland is a place I have always wanted to visit. The lochs, the moors, the hunky dudes with accents. So seeing this book made me jump into excitement. The premise is cute and includes two of my favorite things, books and travel, but I will say that the plot was a bit thin. I wanted a little bit more to work with or a few side characters that were a bit more filled out. The dialogue between them is cute, but I didn't feel it was enough to get me through the end of the book. It just felt a bit too on the nose for me at times. I would still consider reading another book by Alana Oxford, but with reservations.
The cover was also adorable and I want to give a shout-out to the designer. I totally fell for it.
First of all, we need to discuss that cover! I gravitate toward this illustrated style, but the color palette was so pleasing to me! This was my first read by Alana Oxford, and I would definitely read her again. I love all books on the romance spectrum, and I feel like the best way to describe this one is a clean, fun, palette cleanser romance! I read this one in nearly one sitting, and I could totally see myself picking it up again in the future to read between heavier themed books. I found the characters to be super fun and well developed, but the plot needed a little more for me to rate five stars. I still loved it, and would recommend!
Thanks for the ARC for an honest review.
This is a cute, clean, romance. The story moves along and develops at a nice pace and it nice to see their relationship build. This is mainly a character driven story with limited plot to move the story along.
I was excited to read this book since it has the makings of a great rom-com. And while it was a cute, fast read, it just didn't hold my attention like I hoped it would.
I was very excited to read Scotsman in the Stacks by Alana Oxford. The premise sounded exciting and I loved the connection to the book world that the author tried to promote. However; I missed the date where I could download this novel and therefore; cannot give feedback as I cannot find this book elsewhere.
This is the first book I’ve read from Alana Oxford, and I doubt it will be the last. Scotsman in the Stacks is a delightful and adorable romance! It's the perfect light-hearted read to get you back in the groove.

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. The characters entertained the storyline interested and I loved the lack of angst! Not normally the type of romance I would go for but I felt so safe.
I did find the Scottish accent written in the book a little jarring at times but I am sure it is helpful for an American audience. Being British I found it a little distracting at times as I know what the Scottish accent sounds like and would have read it like that in my head regardless! But overall it is a great book, a holiday read!
This was a romance with relatable characters. I especially loved the relationship between the main character, Paige, and her best friend, Kayla. I definitely had a crush on James. If you're looking for a feel good read, go for this!
I loved this book so much! Her writing is always spot on and this was no different! Such a great story and strong characters
I appreciate the net galley copy of this book, but in honesty, it just didn’t capture me like I was hoping. Guy from Scotland? Librarian? Rom com? All of the elements I hoped to be pulled in by, but it just wasn’t for me.
This one was a DNF for me. I will not be posting a review of it but thank you for sending I think people would like this one it just wasn't for me.
A quick read, but nothing completely unique. It was fast paced and a page turner. The scottish accent was jarring but I quickly got used to reading it. A feel good book, and I always a good romance set in a bookish world.
