This was an easy read. I wasn't crazy about the concept of the book or the storyline. I am not sure if it is a new series but if it is I am sure the story lines will improve.

I’d give The Getaway 100/10 if I could. Tess is one of my favorite literary characters EVER. I’m going to need at least 3 sequels to this book immediately.

This is the first book in a new series by Emily March. This series is more womens fiction rather than romance. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be watching for the rest of the books in this series. You just can’t go wrong with Emily March books

This book is the first in a new series featuring the Prentice Family. The matriarch Genevieve is a traditional sort of woman who has place settings and decorations and goes all out for the holidays trying to hold on tight to tradition and her family. After all of her 4 children fail to show up for Thanksgiving she decides it is time to let go, and she gives up all she knows to move to Colorado to be with her sister. The book focuses on Genevieve and her journey, and the oldest child Jake Prentice and his journey. There is also a major feud between the siblings having to do with an inheritance that is tearing this family apart. The characters in this book were great, and I am so excited that this is a series meaning hopefully each of the 4 siblings will get their own book and we’ll get to visit this family over and over again. I’d love to see Helen get her own book too! I received an ARC from netgalley and forever and this is my honest review.

This was a really good book. It had some ups and downs but the family stayed together and strong. This wasn't my first book I have read by Emily March and it won't be my last. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.

Emily March is one of my authors that I buy no matter what and this book does not disappoint. Genevieve Prentice is the head of her family, but while they seem to be falling apart will the love they grew up with persevere? This book focuses on the oldest son, Jake, and his life choices. He and Tess Crenshaw belong together, but will they be able to figure it out? This story sets the stage for the rest of the series and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens next!

A family story with a big dose of reality.
Well woven and entertaining. I was quickly drawn in and sad when it ended.
For me, that is the highest recommendation there is.
The characters are well drawn, the dialogue is true to life as are the situations. The sister trip to Austria was sheer perfection.

This is a new series called Lake in the Cloud featuring the Prentice family. There is widowed mom Genevieve and her four adult children. When no one shows up for Thanksgiving with excuses because her children are having issues due to an inheritance. She makes a radical change and moves from Texas to Colorado to e near her her sister Helen. The story also follows the oldest son Jake. This book has it all finding oneself, forgiveness and romance. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and can’t wait for the next one in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

The Getaway is the first book in a new series by Emily March about the Prentice family that includes a widowed matriarch and her four grown children. The siblings have been having issues with each other for several years and their estrangement triggers their mother’s move from Texas to Colorado. This basically is a story about new beginnings for multiple characters. The story will draw readers immediately and keep them engaged as challenges are encountered and met…with introspection but thankfully without angst. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This is a book of family dynamics with a protagonist who is quirky and fun to read about. I would like to see a series with this woman as the main character. It reads almost like a memoir/nonfiction. This author is talented at weaving a story I could not put down. What would the characters do next? Would the four, sometimes selfish, children come through for their widowed mom? Could you live her own life and be happy delegating...losing some control over her family??? I really enjoyed this book. I like this book. I don't know how to say it more plainly...this is a great book for entertaining, yet it is thought provoking also. From the characters to the plot to the theme to the resolution...curl up in a comfy chair with a fuzzy warm afghan...enjoy. This book was sent to me from Netgalley for review. I am glad they sent it electronically as I carry my Ipad/Kindle with me.

I became hooked on Emily March’s Eternity Springs series a few years ago, and have read every one of them, so I was excited to see that she had a new book/series coming out. I was pleasantly surprised to see 2 of the characters take a trip over to Eternity Springs!

The family at the center of this story is struggling after the death of their grandfather, and when their Thanksgiving holiday dinner falls apart, their mother decides to put herself first and make some dramatic changes. This is the story of those changes, a family learning to come together again, and a developing love story for one of the children.

It was fun, heartfelt, and sets up a new series very well. I expect we will see more from this family in the coming years, and I am really looking forward to it!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
