A foodie countryside girl left her hometown to become a model, but she lacked motivation and confidence to present herself until she changed her manager. Her new manager gave her an honest talk about what she lacks and gave her tips to overcome it. Slowly building her confidence, Mame passed an initial screen for a brand, but if she doesn't pass the next audition they will fire her along with her manager.

The illustrations are cute. I love that the first few pages are colored, giving the readers an idea of what Mame looks. A light read indeed. Thank you IPG and Netgalley for the ARC.

Thank you to TOKYOPOP and NetGalley for proving me with an ARC of this manga to review!

Mame Coordinate is about a country girl, named Mame, who is an aspiring model. She is struggling to land any of her auditions, so her manager passes her off to someone else, Manager Kisaragi, and tells her she has 1 more chance at an audition before she is likely fired. Kisaragi learns that Mame isn’t doing well due to her attitude towards modeling and starts helping her to change for the better.

I don’t really know what to think of this manga. The art was cute and vibrant, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters or the story. Mame seems very unenthusiastic about being model, so it confuses me why she’s even bothering to try. Kisaragi is a pretty forgettable character and I didn’t like that some of her actions towards Mame seemed questionable. I personally do not see myself continuing this series.

If you’re a fan of modeling/fashion and the slice of life genre, this manga may be for you.

This manga tells the story of a very clumsy girl, probably traumatized by bullying during the school period, who tries to become a model.
The problem is that she only gets one more chance of being cast in an audition before being fired by her agency. She is entrusted to this manager who will do everything to make her successful.
But the protagonist, although very pretty, is a real desperate case for everything else!

I must say that although the cute vibes are there and the commitment to carry a story forward there are, the designs and drawings are still immature and I often found them annoying. Everything seems to have been drawn very quickly and without commitment and the construction of the layout has not often convinced me. Then I found the scene in the restaurant really out of place and disturbing.
I was very attracted by the cover, but otherwise it is barely enough to make me continue to read.

It's better and funnier that I expected. Mame is an average yet pretty girl recruted somehow to modeling but has no talent for the job. She's on the verge of losing her job when a new manager appears. The woman is intimidating and know her job but also need to be less strict. The dynamic between those two is surprinsing and interresting to see, miss Manager has to adapt to Mame before even considering molding her for the industry. It was refreshing and I liked it.

Thank you to Tokyopop and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Mame Coordinate, Volume 1 by Sachi Miyabe is an adorable and funny manga about a model who doesn't fit in to the modeling industry. The story revolves around Mame, an aspiring model who doesn't have any fashion sense or confidence. She's extremely anxious all the time. Then, she gets a new manager who is set on turning her into a top model. Will the pair be able to help Mame achieve her dreams?

Overall, Mame Coordinate, Volume 1 is a delightful manga that is a breath of fresh air in a sea of dark and depressing manga. One highlight of this book is the artwork. The art is very cute and lovely to look at. I did take off 1 star, because I felt that the female manager's way of inspecting / photographing Mame when they first met was a bit "pervy", and I wasn't a fan of that scene. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of manga in general, I recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in May!
