I like the premise of this book and I liked it overall.
I do think it could include less dialogue, because sometimes it can be a bit too much and it almost makes it feel a bit empty if that makes sense?
I also think they could have been more flirty, romantic, etc. during the road trip because as soon as the have to part ways it all of a sudden seems like they REALLY like each other when most of the story is them bickering. Maybe add some cheesy tropes, the car breaks down, they have to wait for it overnight so they stay in a motel with one bed OH no! Haha. Or maybe include descriptions of longing glances, blushing, accidental hand touching, or some other element of soft and gentle flirtation. Something to showcase their chemistry.
Also the bit where he thinks her mom is WAY hotter than she is, sort of left a bad taste in my mouth. It was the first thing he thought and it rubbed me the wrong way.
I thought him thinking she was a hooker was hilarious and the dialogue where he doesn’t know she isn’t and she does t know he thinks she is a hooker is so so funny. Loved it.
I also thought he could be a bit whiny at times and his “woe is me” attitude came off as sort of unlikable.
I thin overall the premise is really good but adding more showcasing their chemistry might make it more believable.

Cute book. Felt the story was a little rushed as it took place over a 24 hour period. Quick fun read that left me feeling happy!

I’m sorry to say that this book just wasn’t for me. Almost the entire book takes place over 24 hours so very heavy on the insta-love, which is not my favorite. It was very short and lacked some much needed depth, and I think this could have been addressed if the author took the time to develop the story over another 100-150 pages. I did enjoy the banter between Clara and Ian and found some portions funny, but more often than not, it fell flat. The epilogue was also rather disappointing.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was adorable! It was fun to read and kind of interesting to see the perspective of people we see as villains in life. This was just fun,

This book was such a cute quick read (sometimes we just need a little quicky) the build up for the plot took a little longer than I would have wanted, and lacked depth but it was just an easy romance read with likable main and side characters. Loved the dual pov I think all romances need that in my opinion. Overall I enjoyed it and I loved Claire’s mom so so much

4.5 stars rounded up
This book was delightful! Absolutely hilarious at points. I was literally laughing out loud. The main characters, Clara and Ian, are both great and the dual POV didn’t feel odd or one sided at all. The side characters are great, too. I love Clara’s mum. She’s the best! My one critique is that the plot takes place over a very short span of time and while it didn’t feel overly clunky or off kilter, it did just seem slightly unrealistic. But that’s probably me just being nit picky. On the whole this book was charming and would be a perfect beach read this summer!

Oh my goodness this was a delight to read.

Meet cute premise? Hilarious and original. Characters? Complex, hilarious, and immediately likeable. Banter? Hilarious. Do you see the theme here?

On top of having me actually laughing out loud, this had a lot of emotional weight to it. And Reilly did a great job of explaining Clara and Ian’s backgrounds without being heavy handed or cringeworthy.

I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a quick read.

This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author.

This surely was a fun and entertaining beach read. Laugh out loud with some great characters and interesting plot.

This book was cute, but lacked depth. It's definitely an easy, breezy beach read. I enjoyed it, however I felt that when the plot finally was warming up and I was excited to see where the book went, the story ended. Perhaps this was on purpose for a sequel? The book itself had two opposites-attract-on-the-surface-but-really-have-the-same-goals main characters but to be honest, the side characters (aka Clara's mom) were the most intriguing. I'd definitely recommend for a light hearted beach read, but if you're looking for depth, this might not be the book for you.

I really wanted to love this one. The description sounded great, but something just felt off to me. Maybe it was the fact that the majority of the book takes place over one day coupled with the fact that so many absurd things take place. Don't get me wrong, this is a super cute, fun read. But unfortunately, it wasn't as great for me because I struggled with the reality of the timeline.

This was a very sweet story and a great read! It was fun and the plot was interesting. The characters were also really entertaining and I loved how it was dual POV.

This book was super sweet, and I really enjoyed every chapter. The characters were well rounded and the storyline was compelling. I look forward to adding a physical copy to my home library soon.

A great, fast paced read. Clara meets Ian when she mistakes his car for hers. Over the next few hours lots goes wrong but they spend time getting to know each other.
I liked how it is good from both of their points of view.

Fun, easy, and laugh out loud funny. Great characters. Sara (Clara's mom) is a riot. Definitely recommend.

Light, funny, entertaining and enjoyable. Perfect for a book club or a quick read.

This book was light and hilarious. There were many laugh out loud moments for me.

However, the main issue I had with this book was not with the author or her writing at all, but with the redaction. Every single page had words merged together, which made it hard to read an enjoy fully.

This author is hilarious though. I really wish I had an edited copy to review and give it the attention it deserves.

First of all, I would like to say thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy of Words on Candy Hearts by Augusta Reilly. Okay, so this was the first book by Augusta Reilly that I ever read, and omg it was HILARIOUS. So Clara is in the city meeting her mom for a drink, while Ian is also in the city meeting with his dad for their weekly kumbaya "we love each other" session. Clara gets drunk, someone ends up in Ian's car and the ridiculousness begins. Ian initially thinks Clara is a hooker and honestly there is a lot going on and it is too funny. Read this book. Ian and Clara are great and Clara's mom Sara is amazing. I demand a book about Sara. 5 stars.

What happens when this cynical son of a billionaire gets stuck on a disastrous road trip with the jaded daughter of a gold digger? Will Ian and Clara follow in their parents’ footsteps, or will they find true love?

This is an interesting plot. Both main characters have their demons and issues to work on before they can really love each other and earn their happily-ever-after. They are explosive together. Great fun story.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

First of all, I would like to preface by saying how much I loved the cover :) it screams rom com in the best way possible. I love the trope “defying your parents expectations, and thought the description of the book had a lot of potential. However, I do think that the writing was a little dry, and could have used more character.
