This book was excellent blend of personal narrative and scientific deep dive on dyslexia and how little is known about it. It was emotional and well researched.

John Hendrickson’s Life on Delay is the absorbing exploration of a life complicated by stuttering. Hendrickson’s ability to mine both the physical and emotional consequences of compromised verbal communication, as well as his fine writing, elevate this memoir above the usual. This insightful book is unabashedly raw in its truthfulness, as Hendrickson is unafraid to delve into family dynamics and recognize how they can define the people we become. Effective verbal communication is essential to basic human interaction. Hendrickson’s honesty and persistence in embracing life with a disability is a reminder of the courage that lies within us all.
