After being in witness protection for 10 years and having no contact with anyone from his past, E (short for Edgar) miraculously finds himself being released and automatically heads back to his hometown to win back his true love. But Delilah is engaged to someone else. Will our man get his girl?
Rarely do we get to read a romcom from the male perspective - it was so refreshing! E was so determined to get back into Delilah's good books again. I loved how hard he tried with her. This was a super sweet story and while the ending was predictable, it didn't take away from the journey in getting there. I have no doubt this will be the start of another fantastic series and am already looking forward to reading Desmond's story.
An amusing and light hearted romance. When Edgar Bower’s father was threatened by the Becerra cartel, the entire family was forced into WITSEC. His mother and four brothers had their lives upended and Edgar aka “E” left his very best friend and love interest, Delilah Moon. Delilah and others had no idea what had happened to the Bower family. Although “E” became a successful graphic artist, his siblings each had their futures impacted in different ways. Will a chance meeting with Delilah, ten years later, shake up their lives once again? Knowing that he shouldn’t, he tries to explain what happened, but at first, she doesn’t believe him. When the family finally learns that the cartel has been eliminated, is this their chance to resume their former lives? “E” hopes to return to Windfall and he has his list of “50 ways to win Delilah back”, but will she give him a second chance? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Kelly Siskind has a new series out - and I couldn’t have been more excited when I heard the news! Kelly is a fellow Canadian, who I just discovered this year… and I’m totally in love with her books! This new book and series is proving to be some of her best work yet!!
The Bower Boys will be written entirely from the male point of view - a very fresh take on romance, and I’m totally here for it. I absolutely loved getting the entire story from E’s perspective. It was so different from everything else in the market right when I needed a change (been in a slump). So, first, thank you wholeheartedly for that! I did stop about a third in remembering the prequel novella (10 trends to seducing your enemy), which I had to go back and read. This was about a couple of E’s friends from high school and gave some background on happenings in town during his absence. It helps, but not necessary (would recommend the reading).
E and Delilah were enemies, turned best friends, turned lovers at age 17, when suddenly (that very first-time night), his father’s nefarious deeds were discovered and the FBI swooped in and shuttles his entire family out of town and into witness protection, never to have any contact with anyone again. Suddenly, 10 years later, E and his brother are on a plane (bearing their new identities), and happen to run into Delilah… triggering a whole lot of new events, while at the same time a whole lot of others are going on related to the witness protection issue.
A super interesting storyline - one that is unique in the extreme! And an absolute recommendation for everyone! I adore Kelly Siskind and suggest that anyone who hasn’t yet picked up one of her books, should start here! Perfect chemistry, perfect steam level, spectacular writing and characters, fantastic plot - what more could anyone ask for?!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Montlake - this is my honest review and feedback.
Thank you to Montlake for the digital review copy of this book via Netgalley, receipt of which does not impact my review.
50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover is the first book in Kelly Siskind’s new Bower Boys series. These five brothers were hustled out of Windfall, NC, by the witness protection program. E (the main male character in this book) was devastated after having to leave his serious high school girlfriend, Delilah, and has never gotten over her. Ten years later, he’s able to be back in Windfall and determined to win her back.
It’s a second chance romance with family drama. It was a cute story, though the pacing felt a bit off at times. I did find E’s over the top antics a bit too much for me, but they seemed to work for Delilah so all is well. 🤣 The book also has a doozy of a lead-up to book two, E’s older brother Desmond’s story, and I’ll definitely give that one a read when it’s available!
'A beautifully second-chance story told with all the feels, fuzzies and more. A happy, Happily Ever After story everyone should read!' -TheBritishBibilophile_
50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover by Kelly Siskind is not only her first book in her Bower Boys series, but it is also my first dive into the author herself. After seeing reviews by those who received early copies of the book, I knew I had to grab an ebook ARC when one became available. I had to see what all the fuss was about.
By the title alone, it was to be expected that this story would be based around the Second Chance/Second Shot At Love tropes. With the male lead--as again guessed from the book cover--aiming to win back his lady love. How they came to be parted remains a mystery until you actually turn the pages, as is just how he plans to win her back. All we do know, is that he has 50 ways of doing so and none of them were going to be easy.
The story is as slow-burny as they get which in this case, is far from a bad thing. If there's fifty ways to win someone back, they can't be rushed. Slow-burn romances like this one give the time to paint the picture of the backstory, build up to the present and see where--if anywhere--the storyline goes and where our characters will end up. Sit down and buckle up to read one man’s creative attempt to win back his high school sweetheart after a change in fortune gives them a second chance at love.
Now, let's talk about the main characters who's story is told here. Delilah Moon and Edger Bower. Ripped apart by unforeseen circumstances, the two are thrust back into each other's lives ten years afterwards. Both characters are completely different from how they knew each other a decade ago, and have to re-learn what parts of them remain the same, and get to know which parts are new. Edgar, also known as 'E', is as determined as leading male character come, but for one very good reason. To win back Delilah Moon. As for the woman herself, there's something attached to her which could throw E's plans to the ground, or make him more determined to get her back than ever before. Both know deep down what their hearts and souls truly want, but will who they are today be enough to break down walls and heal the many wounds that their time apart has caused? There's only one way to find out.
50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover was a story that despite taking a little bit of time getting used to with the opening chapters, was one that I was glad I took the plunge with. Page by page, I certainly saw what the hype and praise was about. Kelly Siskind shows the world here that first impressions are everything--if you're reading this as your first introduction to her as I am--, and impressed I was. I'll definitely be back for more Bower Boys.
What a wonderful start to the new Bower Boys Series. This is book one and it’s Edgar Bower (E) and Delilah’s second chance at love.
E has left the witness protection and headed back home to the small town of Windfall because it’s time to win back the girl ( now woman) he never forgot but when he arrives he finds out Delilah is engaged. So does Delilah still have feelings for her high school sweetheart and more importantly will she understand why E left without even a goodbye……
As soon as I read the blurb I was intrigued, this was always going to be a very different type of read to what I’m used to but I was captivated from the moment I picked up 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover and there was no putting down until I had read the final words. It’s an entertaining yet emotional read with wonderful characters, it’s witty and it’s full of love so I suggest you one click this gem of a read, you won’t be disappointed.
Okay, I won't lie to you but every time I read the name Delilah the famous song came to me, bare in mind that it's one of my favorite songs of all time so it's a good sign. Ms. Siskind though did an amazing job with this fantastic second chance to lovers Romance.
This is a heartfelt, smart, unique story that'll keep the reader engaged until the end. Highly recommended!
This is my first book by this author and let me start out by saying I was really impressed with her writing style. From the very first she wrote in such a way that really imparted the depth of E's feelings. His joy at seeing the love of his life and the anguish of not being able to say anything to her because he's in the witness protection program were both displayed so well that it took my breath away.
There were so many fantastic things about this book. The small town protecting Delilah from what E can only guess at, the stuff that went down between E and his brothers and the all consuming love of Delilah and E. It was nice that he really had to earn his way back into her good graces and the 50 steps he had planned out to do so were epic (most of them). I loved their back and forth banter about how utterly HORRIFIC it would be to have to go play with a bunch of puppies. They fell right back into their old ways and it was adorable! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Thanks to Grey's Promo for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
4.5⭐
50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover is my first book by Kelly Siskind, but I can genuinely say it won't be my last. As this is such a great read and not just because of the fantastic premiss but because this story is written completely from the male point of view and there is such emotion, drama and humour in it.
With characters that are really charming and not just Edgar or 'E' as he likes to be called but Delilah, the girl who gets left behind when E, his brothers and mum flee Windfall and enter WITSEC.
And as E returns and embarks on his quest to get Delilah back, I loved how hard she made him work for it and how the small town of Windfall rallied around her and honestly there wasn't one bad character in this entire story.
And with the perfect small-town setting, great pacing and just enough steam. This was an immensely enjoyable second chance romance and I can't wait to read more from Windfall and E's brothers in the future.
I would happily recommend 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover to others.
This book wasn’t for me, I could not connect with the main character or the writing style unfortunately.
A delicious slow burn by the QUEEN of slow burns! I have no words to say how much I loved this book and how much it made me swoon, laugh and blush!
This book had everything I knew Kelly Siskind was going to deliver and even more. Passionate, swoony and all the hope and perseverance of a true love that never fades when it’s the right person!
Can’t wait to get this in paperback. Thank you Netgalley and Kelly Siskind for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
5 Star review 50 Ways To Win Back Your Lover (Bower Boys #1) by Kelly Siskind
When I read the blurb for 50 Ways To Win Back Your Lover I was intrigued. This is an entertain second chance romance that ticked the boxes for me. From the first chapter to the last I was drawn into the story that Ms. Sis kind wove.
Told from our hero’s point of view, (something I really enjoyed) Edgar Bower (aka E) has left witness protection and heads back to his hometown of Windfall (love the name) to win the heart of the woman he was forced to leave behind without notice, Delilah.
However much to his disappointment Delilah is engaged. From Kelly Sis kind comes a slow-burn romantic comedy about one man’s creative attempt to win back his high school sweetheart after a change in fortune gives them a second chance at love.
This was an interesting story and one that I really enjoyed. It was witty, yet emotional and it was entertaining to watch E do everything he can to win Delilah back. There was nothing that I didn’t like about this book, one click this little gem, you won’t be disappointed.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley
I don't think I have ever read a romance completely in the male point of view before, so I was intrigued by this and definitely looking forward to it. Plus, I am big fan of this author. I knew she couldn't do me wrong...and I was right!
Edgar or "E" has been in Witness Protection for the past ten years. He and his family had to leave the small town of Windfall suddenly once it was discovered that their father was laundering money and the cartel could be after them. Now, the cartel threat has been eliminated and he is free to return to Windfall and to Delilah--the girl he has always loved and left behind. His plan to get her back won't be easy, though. She has been through a lot in his absence and is supposedly engaged.
E was the perfect cinnamon roll hero. He seemed like a very real person. Not some alpha jerk. He is very sweet and caring. In fact, you could say he feels too much. He knows that returning to the town he grew up in will be a challenge and he takes all the mean comments if it means being close to Delilah.
The banter between E and his brothers (especially Lennon) was hilarious. Such a bro relationship. Even his banter with Delilah was fun. You could tell that they had once been very close. I loved his inner voice, too and all the jokes about his six-pack abs.
This second chance story blended the lighthearted moments with the more serious ones perfectly. The author has already set up book two with E's brother, Desmond's story. I was looking forward to that as soon as I knew his background!
Thank you to the author for the gifted physical advance copies. Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the electronic arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First I must address the elephant inside my head..With a slight blush and a quickening of my heart I'm here to confess that I'm in love. I've always found the term "Book Boyfriend" to be cute and I love to swoon over a hot MC as much as the next gal Yet I have never truly fallen in love with a fictional character until now. I cannot get enough of Edgar Eugene Bower. I love him so much I feel a debt of gratitude to author Kelly Siskind for bringing him to life.
This is one of my favorite romance books so far this year, and I'm sure I've read close to 100 by now. 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover is so much more than a second chance romance. This is a book about total devastation, lost trust, lost time and most of all healing. 50 Ways is the start of a series involving 5 brothers who 10 years ago had their young lives stolen when they were put into witness relocation. Kelly Siskind has come up with such an original idea and a perfect way to keep on giving to us.
This first story covers the baby brother Edgar who is plucked from his first love just moments after they've shared their first time. Delilah isn't just some first puppy love, no she is the girl that has been his first enemy, his best friend and then his first and only love. Somehow Siskind has added so much humor and healing to the heartbreak. She has created a community to dream of a family you want to be a part of and the ultimate crushable heartthrob.
I am so grateful to have been given an ARC of this book from NetGalley. I am leaving this review volunatarily. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book of this series.
ALL the big heart-googly eyed emojis and stars for 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover!!! One of the most adorable, completely male POV, books I've read in a long time!
I can already tell that the entire Bower family is going to worm their way into my heart and reside there until the end of time. Edgar has already set up shop and made a permanent residence in there, pink couch and all...I'll let him explain the princess decor, don't worry, he makes it look very manly. But, back to Edgar and his 50 ways to win back his girl...he is one of the most likeable and relatable characters that I've instantly fallen in love with basically from page one in awhile. He's filled with quirky humor and tons of internal freak outs that made me giggle over and over. He's also totally sweet and adorkably charming in his own way...seriously, what's not to like...aside from the fact that he completely and totally disappeared ten years ago and broke his girlfriend's heart, but hey, he's back and trying to make amends.
Delilah Moon - great name by the way - is still residing in their small hometown of Windfall and she has that small town on her side when Edgar comes back. I love small town books because of the close-tight knit communities and this book does it justice.
Seriously, or maybe, not so seriously, 50 Ways is filled with tons of humor, great secondary characters, and a likeable guy who feels really deeply about pretty much everything and everyone in his life. Winning back his first love should be a piece of cake-right?
I can't wait to return to Windfall and see how each of Edgar's brothers fare as each of them return to their former lives after a decade of being gone. The giddiness makes me chuckle everytime I think of it.
This was my first read by Kelly Siskind, and I was blown away by the amount of emotion she packed into the pages. The backdrop of the Bowers' story is so sad, but there are also some absolutely hilarious parts. E loves Delilah in a true and lasting way, but he also has to realize that it is been a somewhat selfish and immature way. Like life, each chapter is mixed with good and bad, and the whole package is unforgettable.

What do you do when you have to leave everything behind to protect yourself and the ones you love? Kelly Siskind's new series about the Bowers tackles this question, kicking off with 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover.
Edgar Bower has been on the run for ten years. Being in witness protection because of his dad's illegal activities has forced him and his family to uproot themselves from their small town, their friends, everything they know. Now that the people who had a target on them are gone, what are they supposed to do when they are no longer constantly hiding?
Edgar goes back to his hometown after a run-in with the woman he loved, and as expected, he is not quite met with a warm welcome. Now he must figure out how he can get back into Delilah Moon's good graces. Will his 50-step plan work?
I enjoyed the unique premise of this second-chance romance. The story is told from Edgar's perspective so we get to experience his arc through his thoughts and emotions. I genuinely like him; his rambling musings were so relatable and we share his anxieties about keeping his family safe and figuring out how to mend bridges in his town.
The start was a little slow for me, only because there was so much information to unpack about the Bowers' back story. Once his own story started, I felt like the pacing was much better. There was a nice balance of humor, drama, and romance as the main characters reflect on and rebuild their relationship.
The ensemble cast is also on point. The Bower siblings and the folks from Windfall bring banter, love, and support to the main characters.
This is the first of the series, and I will definitely be looking forward to the subsequent books. It looks like poor Desmond Bower is next, and I cannot wait.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Kelly Siskind, Montlake, and NetGalley for providing an ARC. **
While I was a little taken aback when I found out that the story was told entirely from the male MC’s POV, it wound up being perfect. The feelings between Delilah and Edgar were so prevalent, and I adored their chemistry. While their situation was difficult, I admired the way they worked through it. Its terrible that Edgar and his family have to deal with the fallout of something they had no part in. Sweet, spicy read with wonderful characters and a great story. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Noooo.. I just typed my review and now it’s gone. W.t.f?.. ok Edgar Bower or better known as E by everyone else, just spotted his ex girlfriend-ghe love of his life about to board the same flight as him and his brother back to his home town. E sees Delilah Moon, they are their first everything, first kiss, their first love, first time.. blah blah blah…on that plane ride he sees an opportunity to explain his ghosting towards her those 10 yrs ago. But him and his family had to be rushed into the witness protection program and had to cut off all ties from his old life. What they both didn’t realize they both suffered through their lost of one another. How they both courageously went on and found one another after so many years a part. To Delilah she is holding a deal breaker of a secret. Will the secret define their future?
50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover by Kelly Siskind has a very unique storyline. A mom and five brothers are in witness protection because of their father. This was a new perspective and story line for me so I enjoyed that piece very much. The opening scene captures your attention and you know this is going to be quite the story.
The story is labeled a romantic comedy. And Edgar is hilarious at times. However the story had very sad moments that I will not spoil for you and Edgar had several very serious revelations. None of this I would have expected from a romantic comedy.
The author did an amazing job of creating a very different kind of hero in Edgar. He is not the macho gym rat kind of guy. He feels deeply and is an artist. I am not into comics but would want to read his story.
The author also shared enough about the other brothers that we are trapped into the series and have to know what is going to happen to them.
This is my first book by this author and she is on the keeper shelf.
Note: as I went back to write my review I realized there was a lot of language, however when I was reading it, it did not stick out to me.
Sexual - several scenes and he seems to be thinking about it all the time.
Drinking - one of the brothers drinks a lot but is a side bit of the story,
Language - 4 f word is used over 50 times, and sh#t and D$mn are also used many time.
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.
