This plot concept was honestly such an awesome idea, and I loved it so much.
It made me super sad too though because E did not deserve to have to go away for his fathers shitty decisions!!!
ALSO I LOVEEEE the point of view choice, I think it really added to the story.
I can't wait to see more of these peoples stories in Desmond's book, i just know itll be spectacular(as well as really, really sad).
4.5 stars overall, go read it like ASAP
Thank you to NetGalley for supplying this arc, it was wonderful!
This is the perfect book for when you need a good laugh!
This book was so unique in it's story and it's characters! I really enjoy Kelly Siskind's writing and this one was the best! Laugh out loud hilarious with a quirky MC trying to win back his lost love from unforeseen circumstances. You'll love this one!
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the earc in return for an honest review.
I fell in love with Kelly Siskind’s writing from the moment I read the One Wild Wish Series and I’ve read everything she’s written since, but I have to say, without a doubt, this is my absolute favorite of all of her novels. The writing in 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover is spectacular! The plot is creative and original and so very different from the norm. The characters are so well developed and relatable that I don’t ever want to let them go. I not only fell in love with E a/k/a Edgar and Delilah, but E’s entire family and the whole small “rumor mill” town of Windfall (where I’d love to live, btw). And from the little scraps of information in this book, I know I’m going to fall in love with Desmond too - oh my gosh, what a story that will be!
Might I suggest you grab the tissues though – E gutted me and broke my heart in two. I didn’t just cry - I sobbed – I love him so much and that’s saying something because I love all of Ms. Siskind’s characters but there’s just something about Edgar/E that is so heartbreakingly real. Maybe it’s because it’s written entirely in his POV, but I don’t think so - I think it’s Kelly’s breathtaking and heartfelt method of writing. And I also think it’s because her writing has gotten better if that’s even possible. This was such an emotional and intense read for me and I know I’m going to have a book hangover for days. I can’t imagine saying goodbye to Candy Cane either! It was such a pleasure to sit down and spend time with these characters.
I want every reader to go into this book without any preconceived notions so you can experience all the feelings and emotions I did. That being said, just buy it and read it! You will adore this book! I wish I could give it 10 stars – incredible writing Kelly-absolutely incredible! I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Romances strictly from the hero’s POV are hard to find GEMS and this book was no exception. I absolutely adored this book! Siskind is a new to me author so I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but I am so glad I took a chance on her book.
DNF @ 31%. It’s a bunch of different reasons for me…
- I think I underestimated how genuinely heartbreaking this story is. I was imagining a fun twist on a second-chance romance with the witness protection excuse (a pretty good one!), but we see a lot of deep pain and how it’s affected this family and the people who love them.
- Maybe if it had been 2 years in witness protection it might have been a different story, but 10 years is a long time and having them talk about going back to their old lives felt like a stretch. The idea of this guy wanting to go back to the woman he loved but probably finding her to be a very different person (27, not 17!) was, again, heartbreaking.
- It’s pretty far outside the realm of possibility that this family wouldn’t be able to contact you at all, but did anyone in the town think maybe something really bad must have happened if the whole family just disappeared one night without a word? And that maybe it’s not their fault?
- It’s now a third of the way into the story and the hero is only just starting to meet with the heroine and try to “win her back.” A little too slow for me.
- It might seem little, but our first introduction to Delilah was of her interactions with the flight attendant on the plane, and when she was asked what she wanted to eat, it was “cookies.” And to drink, “Sprite without ice.” And I just thought, no “please”? Thank you? But the hero was generally pretty likeable and he didn’t say ‘please’ either when he asked for a kitchen sink bar at the coffee shop. It just stood out to me, especially when it’s our introduction to the character, that she didn’t seem particularly kind.
Did someone say “Kelly Siskind”?! Kelly Siskind became my GIRL, the day she wrote New Orleans Rush, and ever since then has become my go to for fun, fluffy romcoms. Which leads me to this read! While this book was not the typical sugary story, it was still heart warming and divine, so let’s get into it!
BLURB: The day Edgar went into witness protection was the worst day of his life. Kissing his good family name wasn’t nearly as heartbreaking as losing Deliah Moon, but ten years later he’s determined to win her back… getting her to forgive him is one thing, winning back her heart is completely another.
Without giving too much away, this book was really really deep, and completely pulled at my heart strings, as we learned about everything each Bower brother lost due to no fault of their own. This was definitely a lot deeper than the light romantic comedy I was expecting, but that’s ok! This was poignant and raw, and the relationship between Delilah and Edgar felt so REAL. This is a must read for sure!

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you NetGalley and Kelly Siskind for giving me the opportunity to review an ARC copy of this gem.
I'm screaming, crying, throwing up, sobbing, because this book was so good.
Pretty sure this is supposed to be a happy book....but i cried...a bit
What I loved-
- IT WAS IN THE MALE MAIN CHARACTER"S POINT OF VIEW THE ENTIRE TIME. I didn't think I would like that but I really did. Edgar was so adorable and gave the best vibes (golden retriever bf vibes). Bestie never gave up on Miss. Delilah Moon because he was so in love with her.
- Edgar really was amazing. He exptressed his emotions so well, was never afraid to cry or show feeling. He said no to toxic male gender roles and I am here for it 100%. No seriously, can we see more of this? He reminded me sooo much of Kenji Kishimoto (from Shatter Me). I love how he knew what he wanted and he was not afraid to go after it. He was so determined and never once doubted himself.
- Edgars backstory was so sad but so interesting. I can NOT wait for the next books, ESPECIALLY DESMOND'S STORY.
- there is just so much I love about this book
What I didn't love-
- I know I am gonna get hate for this but...Delilah made me a bit frustrated at times. I totally understand and empathize with her trauma. But I feel like E's trauma is often brushed off by the town people because of what Delilah went through. I could be very biased but Edgar forgave Delilah so much because he loved her so much and that made me angry. Delilah kept blaming him for something that really wasn't his fault. So many people let their anger out on E and it hurt because Edgar deserves the world. I just wish there was a scene where Delilah fought for Edgar.
Anyways, great book, thank you miss Kelly Siskind for this beautiful book
The concept of this story grabbed my attention. Seemed like a unique storyline. Sadly, I had a hard time sticking with this story. I finally had to skip around because it just didn’t hold my interest. I’m not sure why…
This is the first book I've read by this author and it will not be my last! I fell in love with E and Delilah from the very moment this book began. It had me giggling and crying and it broke my heart. The idea that young love could be ripped apart through no fault of the main characters was devastating. The sadness and struggles they both endured seemed beyond anything I could even imagine. And still, this book was about hope and finding your way back to the person you love, the person you are meant to be with. He believed his place was with Delilah and he wasn't going to give up hope that they could be together. His list was fun at the beginning, but he finally came to realize that he couldn't make Delilah love him or welcome him back into her arms. She had to make the choice on her own. I loved their banter and the things that made them uniquely a couple. I would read this book over and over again. It was that touching.
I read this book in a single day and I have to say I don't know what I'm going to do with myself until E's brother Desmond's book comes out. His book is going to be even more devastating and I'm here for it!
"I've spent so long pretending not to be me, it's like I'm learning who I am all over again."
Edgar Eugene Bower (aka "E") knows who he is. At least, he did, ten years ago before everything he knew was unceremoniously taken away from him because of the actions of his selfish father.
Delilah Moon knows loss. "People always leave me," she tells a stranger on an airplane. She's lost her father and her best friend.
After ten long years of separation, fate has brought them together in an airport terminal. Will E grasp the opportunity to tell her why he disappeared from her life a decade ago?
"Some people don't have the emotional capacity to consider how others feel. All they think about is how their choices affect them. If one moment doesn't show their true colors, another will."
This story was written in first person point of view from E's perspective. It was refreshing to read a single narrator story from the point of view of the male lead. That was just one way that this novel felt fresh and unique. I went into this blindly, having never read anything by this author and thinking the story would be a cutesy "get her back" novel. I'm a huge fan of the second chance trope, and this book blew me away with its originality, realistic, multifaceted, and most importantly likable characters, and fantastic emotional scenes and themes. There is nothing about E that I don't like, which is rare for me, and Delilah is his perfect counterpart. The writer built their history and their present beautifully, with fantastic imagery and figurative language that made the book both lighthearted and emotionally heavy at the same time.
After finishing this novel, I am very eagerly anticipating the next installment in this series. I love the characters and the small town it's set in and am looking forward to seeing the continuation of the conflict as it affects the rest of E's siblings.
Honestly I've got some really mixed feelings about this one.
On one hand, I liked the characters. An empath is such an interesting trait for the male character. It made him so likeable.
But... I really had issues with how slow the book was going. I wish that there was more of drama or something? And I think for this reason, I wasn't very invested.
It was interestingly written and genuinely quite heartbreaking.
Maybe it just wasn't for me?
Beautiful written, great character development and a romance story that ket me on my feet throughout the pages . I was so invested that I didn’t knew when the time has gone as I read it in one sitting.
I love the quirky heroine and how everything evolves, with much more insights in their thoughts and daily life. That adds more to my general vision of their personality and I just loved it.
A Must read romance of this year.
This story has a great balance of having a light hearted vibe with moments of pure angst. I thought E and Delilah had great chemistry, and really liked him as a narrator. Sometimes, single POVs can limit the story, but in this instance, it didn’t. I wish the epilogue was more in depth of E and Delilah happy in a relationship, but I’m sure we’ll sure more of them in future books. Can’t wait for Desmond’s story!
I have to say this was a fan-freaking-tactic read! I laughed, I pitied, and boy did I cry. My first by this author and it was a lovely story. Five stars for E and Delilah! I’m so glad I clicked on this ARC. It was a fun romcom but the cover caught my eye.
I received an ARC to read and voluntarily left a review!

50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover is a breath of fresh air wrapped up in a second-chance romance. This genre is so difficult to do well, and author Kelly Siskind understands the assignment.
When Edgar Bower and his girlfriend Delilah Moon finally spend their first night together, neither could have anticipated that it would be their last. When Edgar’s family is pulled into the Witness Protection Program, they’re separated without a word. Ten years later, he’s finally free to be himself again, and he’s determined to win Delilah back. But Delilah has her own secrets, and her own scars.
One of the most compelling elements of this particular story is the reason why the main characters were separated in the first place. The Witness Protection Program is a pretty compelling reason. Edgar has no choice but to leave with his family, leaving his soulmate behind. Readers will obviously have to lean into elements of suspend-disbelief for this plotline and some of the other plot elements to work, but it is executed deftly, and sets the stage for future books regarding the rest of Edgar’s siblings.
This is single POV from the male protagonist’s perspective, which was a surprising and effective narrative choice. Edgar as a hero is both sensitive and strong, and a welcome counterpoint to the hyper-alpha male that is often present in the genre.
In all, it was a read that left me wanting to know more about the universe that Siskind has created, and I greatly appreciated the depth of Edgar and Delilah as characters.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
3.5 stars
Written entirely in the male protagonist's POV, '50 Ways to win back your Lover' is sort of an exercise in grovelling when you've disappeared for a decade without an explanation in the dead of night only to reappear when the circumstances magically turn your way. Starting with a checklist of things to do in order to erase the trauma of your disappearance.
At least, that's what Edgar Bower--or better known as E--is facing in life after WITSEC. Making amends is probably one of the hardest things to do as he determinedly sets out to win back the love of his life, ploughing through all obstacles as hard as he can just to get near Delilah Moon. But people's memories aren't short in the small town of Windfall and E has a lot to do just to get back to where he thought he'd been all those years ago, and apparently, as do the rest of his family.
I found myself part bemused and amused at Edgar's odd train of thoughts at times--he wins hands down at the kind of pursuit most women would probably dream about, but little goes down in the first half of the book except for a lot of near-hysterical monologue about his current and past circumstances, some flashbacks about his and Delilah's history and how good they'd been together.
The subtle and unexpected bursts of humour had me smirking at times--that part made the read worth it--but I also cringed when it lobbed itself from romantic to cheesy from one moment to the next. As far as beta-type heroes go, E isn't at all a bad one and I liked his quirky, artistic and sensitive side that's seen throughout the story--it's a kind of softness and a breath of fresh air that is often missing from the muscly, reckless sort.
But Siskind doesn't stop there at E's and Delilah's somewhat rushed HEA, as this is clearly also the set up for a series to come as this broken family tries to mend itself after ten long years of separation from their old lives. In short, it's in no way a bad read at all with a promise of more of this family in the future but I think I did expected a little more drama and action (higher peaks, lower troughs) perhaps instead of a more talked-over, babbling kind of narrative where there were more instances of telling rather than showing.
50 Ways to Love your Lover is a beautifully written second chance love story.
The entire book is told form Edgar’s POV. He has a list of 50 ways to win back the love of his life Delilah.
Their story is heartbreaking but so beautiful at the same time. I loved them together and having flashbacks when they were young and in love made my heart full of love for them.
I fell in love with Edgar. Reading a second chance romance from his perspective was everything I could ask for in a romance book. The author did great with creating butterflies in my stomach.
I want to move to Windfall and have my own Edgar.
Loved this book. It has everything you can ask for : second chance , small town , male’s pov , all the feels.
Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read it.
I’ve read (and loved) a lot of Kelly Siskind’s books. She’s one of my favourite romance authors.
This is hands down her BEST book to date. I don’t know what magic she put in this, but it was beyond perfect.
Don’t balk at the book being entirely from the male POV. Siskind did that because it’s how this story works. There was no other way to tell this story. There’s no other way I would want this story to be told. E’s POV was beautiful and wonderful and I love him.
I’m so excited that this is going to be a new series from Siskind and I can’t wait to read more about the Bower brothers.
This is a fabulous creative five-star read. I was so hopeful that this would be a five-star read, I enjoyed it and it came so close in parts, it did fall a little short in others, but overall I felt like it deserved a five-star read, as it leads on to the next story, and I am so excited for that, I need more Bower boys in my life, especially the grumpy recluse I hope we get to hear more from soon. Delilah Moon is a beautiful bird who deserves to fly as far as her wings will take her, and the fact that she bakes like a dream, can I marry her myself… E was so complex, his empathy made him so strong and deep, everything he takes just made me love him more. There were a couple of clunky bits, but overall this was a great story.
This is the first book I have read that made me regret getting it early( a very good way). I loved all the characters and now I have to wait extra long to see what happens in the next book, but this book hasn't even been released yet! This was also the first romance book I have read that is told from the man's perspective.
E was so respectful and careful not to push his lost love but at the same time he was dying inside to be with her. And I love the small NC town representation and how everyone banded together to protect her with the whole fake engagement story. It was hilarious reading about the towns folks efforts to make it seem like the wedding was happening while E knew the whole time that they were lying.
It was definitely a unique read and I can't wait for more from this author!
