I'd had high hopes for this collection but honestly felt it fell a bit flat.
The first story was interesting enough but the MC was really hard to like and I found myself skipping ahead at times. I wasn't even sure at first that the love interest *was* the love interest due to how un-interesting their initial connection was and really didn't feel much chemistry there. It felt like a book at a 40,000 ft view without much heart.
Story two was by far my favorite and the author did a great job of filling a lot of things into the little space of a novella. There were times things skipped ahead and I wish they hadn't - but that's the nature of such a short story and she did a good job keeping things moving. I could have read a whole book out of this story.
Story three was...well, in a word, predictable. I think the author had the best of intentions but it was a very dry/bland plot that I could have guessed every plot point to, unfortunately. There just wasn't much heart and I skipped a vast majority of the story to only hit the highlights (of which I guessed them all). I'm sure some will love this story and it wasn't "bad" it just wasn't for me.
My rating per story:
Story 1: 3*
Story 2: 4*
Story 3: 2*

Thanks to NetGalley for this gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I have read and enjoyed books by all of the authors in this collection. This is a collection of 3 Christmas romance stories that are novella length. It is a nice addition to the holiday season and the stories are the perfect length to read in between batches of baking cookies. Warm and cozy feel-good stories.

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Every year I tell myself I'm going to read more Christmas books in December and then I somehow forget about it. This year, I was fortunate enough to snag an ARC of this Christmas anthology, so it was like reading three Christmas books in one go!
When I started this book, I didn't know what to expect as I'm only familiar with one of the authors. However, it ended up being a great read to get me in the Christmas spirit!
A Christmas Do-Over: This story was a little difficult to read as it's not what I expected from a Christmas story. It was about a girl who used to be mean and horrible trying to become a better person. She goes home for Christmas and does her best to make amends. I think I might have enjoyed this one more if it had been longer or if we got to know the characters better.
Dashing Through the Snow: This story was my favorite and I would give it a 5 if it was its own book! I'd love a full-length novel with these characters! Willow just got dumped by her boyfriend, but she still had the tickets for the Christmas Express train she was supposed to ride with him. She decides to go alone, even though it was really meant for couples, and it ends up being a wonderful experience for her. I thought it was super sweet and actually tried looking up Christmas trains afterwards (they do exist!!)
A Perfectly Splendid Christmas: This story gave off Hallmark movie vibes. Kacey returns to her hometown to help her sister out at her bakery, and she ends up running into her high school friend Drew. The two hit it off again, but they both know Kacey doesn't plan on sticking around for long. I thought the story was cute, but I was a little frustrated by it. It seemed like everything worked out too conveniently, but I was rooting for the characters by the end.
I enjoyed all three of these stories, though I liked some more than others. Each one is clean and uplifting, so it was a great book to read before Christmas. If you enjoy clean romances and positive themes, I think this would make a wonderful Christmas read for you!
Three fantastic Christmas stories sure to get you in the spirit. My favorite was Dashing Through The Snow because I adored the characters.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
On the Way to Christmas is a trilogy of stories by authors Sheila Roberts, A Christmas Do-Over, Melissa Ferguson, Dashing Through the Snow, and Amy Clipston, A Perfectly Splendid Christmas.
Each story is imaginative with enjoyable characters and interesting settings. Each story also signifies a change in the heroine that she didn’t quite expect but will nonetheless redirect her life.
I very much enjoyed this collection and do recommend this book!
I really wanted to like this one more than I did. The stories were warm and cute. There was a strong Christmas setting in each novella. But neither quite captured the storytelling style that I love. One story felt a bit shallow to me. Another was told in the present tense which is a style I really struggle to enjoy. And another was too slow. I'd be willing to give any of these authors another try, though. And maybe this collection will be a better fit for another reader.
I love anything by Sheila Roberts and this book does not disappoint. Christmas stories are my weakness and this brought me great joy to read.
Generally when I read a book of multiple stories, I end up having a favorite. I generally don’t like them all but this book contains 3 stories and I was invested in all of them! The stories were festive and heartwarming. They all flowed nicely and I found this book to be festive and fun. This was a great Christmas read!
What a delightful read this collection of stories was. I usually have a favorite but I would be hard pressed to pick one this time around. Each of the three is a stand-alone story that is filled with lovely characters and charming settings.
Along the way we meet Darby who is trying to become a reformed mean girl. You can't help but cheer her on as she makes amends and finds a new path in life. Then we join Willow on an interesting train adventure. The unexpected encounters will change the direction of her life. Finally we travel with Kacey back to her hometown where she helps her sister during a short-term crisis. In the midst she may find a long term life change.
The Christmas spirit flows through each of these tales and allows the reader to escape into a delightful winter wonderland. One of the best parts is that each individual story is a novella so you can grab a cup of cocoa and read a story in one sitting. That's what I did three nights in a row. By the way, I think this would make a great addition to the book lover's stocking on your list!
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
This is a collection of 3 short "romance light" home for the holidays stories that will appeal to anyone that regularly reads the genre. I personally liked the second and third stories more than the first, but as a whole, the anthology is worth the read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this dARC in exchange for my honest review.
On the Way to Christmas is a collection of three Christmas romances by Sheila Roberts, Melissa Ferguson, Amy Clipston.
I’m always ready to try a new author and novella collections are great opportunities for such a thing. In this case, all three authors were new-to-me and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read their stories.
A Christmas Do-Over by Sheila Roberts had A Christmas Carol undertones. A grumpy heroine who comes face-to-face with her past, and Christmas. I especially liked the hero in this one, but for fear of spoilers, I won’t say more.
Dashing Through the Snow by Melissa Ferguson was a fun story that had a fabulous ending. I love the premise as well: finding romance on a Christmas Train. The characters were all so great!
A Perfectly Splendid Christmas by Amy Clipston also had a wonderful hero. I loved the way he attempted to solve the problem that was keeping him and his girl apart. This is the only story where we got to see his point-of-view and I especially liked that.
Overall, these stories were enjoyable reads. The characters in all of them were wonderful, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this collection.

This is a nice book if you want a quick read in between your many holiday events.. It might be me, but I thought that the stories did drag a bit, and I had trouble with them keeping my interest.
Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC for an honest review.
I’ve missed reading Melissa Ferguson’s books… She’s a favorite and always will be.
Okay, let’s start with Elodie… Wow, man, okay, she’s something…
Now, the story was quite elf related which personally was not my favorite, however the story was overall cute, funny, and a really fun read.
The ending was perfect and showed the humor that I love so much coming from Ferguson.
Warnings: told in first person, which I mentioned as I know some readers don’t like first person point of view, mentions of elf thing, mentions of a character saying expletives but they are not shown,

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas anything can happen in these three sweet romances. All three deal with second chances and do-over romances. This book will definitely get you in the Christmas mood, and each will seem like it could be a Christmas movie especially the one set on the train that has a touch of "Polar Express" feel to it. Each story has a lovely reminder of the real meaning of Christmas. Quick, enjoyable novellas for the Christmas holidays when you have a moment to relax during this hectic time.
Do you enjoy preparing your heart for the season by reading some holiday stories? If so, then On the Way to Christmas is definitely recommended.
This is a three story novella collection. Each story is well written and doesn’t feel rushed. A Christmas Do Over opens the set with former mean girl Darby. She doesn’t usually come home for Christmas but after losing her job, she’s got few options. But coming back to the place where you treated almost everyone with contempt isn’t easy. Darby must make amends with family, decide who to be friends with, and repair the one relationship that holds the key to future happiness. I struggled with Darby because she was mean and with precious few consequences, got everything she wanted. But the story is a great picture of grace and repentance in action and I enjoyed it overall.
Dashing Through the Snow pulled me in quite quickly with great characterization. Heartbroken Willow jumps on The Christmas Express on her own. After narrowly avoiding a snake loving elf, she begins caring for the train’s owner, without realizing that’s who he is. This is a really fun and tender story and it did warm my heart.
And in A Perfectly Splendid Christmas, Kacey comes home to help her sister out and runs into her former best friend, the boy (now man) she’d always wished would ask her out but never did. But with her eyes on the city and his on small town life, how can they build a future? This is the perfect ending to a lovely collection of stories.
I’d recommend a blanket, a hot chocolate and putting your feet up with this book and your heart will for sure be On the Way to Christmas. I received a copy from the publisher, the opinions are all mine.
I enjoyed all three stories in On The way To Christmas. Each story came together with amazing characters, love and cheers.
A Christmas Do-Over
This was such a cute story with a great ending. Imagine having to go back home for the Holidays to a town you don’t like and see a sister that hate you, Right after getting fired from you Job. That’s happen to Darby right before going home for Christmas. Darby had a lot of issues and people she wanted to avoid. This story has issues, forgiveness and a do over packed in one.
Dashing through the Snow
After being dumped by her long time boyfriend, Willow still goes on a train ride that was booked for them. During this journey she meets two men who captures her attention. This story is filled with kindness, moving on and keeping your faith.
A perfectly Splendid Christmas
This story and small town captured my attention instantly. While reading I couldn’t help picturing the small town where Kacey grow up. Kacey came back home to help her Sister’s business. While home, she bumped into her childhood best friend who she has always loved. Follow along as they try to move on as adults.
This book contains three novellas that aim to get any reader into the Christmas spirit. In the first story, Darby returns to her hometown at Christmas, planning to mend fences with people whom she offended in the past. Darby finds this a daunting task, especially as she tried to reunite with her beloved sister. As the season commences, Darby also encounters her lost friend from the past, but will he prove to be more than a friend?
The second story introduces readers to Willow, as she embarks upon an adventurous trip aboard the Christmas Express after her long time boyfriend ends their relationship. As she gets to know the Christmas Express family members and staff, Willow finds a very special Christmas adventure awaits her,
The third story features Kacey, as she and her mom help sister Dani at her bakery when Dani's family falls upon hard times. As Kacey celebrates Christmas in her small home town, she becomes reacquainted with her high school sweetheart. Will their romance turn out to be the real thing, or just a slice of Christmas magic?
These three stories are clean and sweet reads, appropriate for the season, with messages of reconciliation and a return to what really matters in life. Each story can be read in one sitting.
I received this book from the publisher Thomas Nelson and from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
Three short Christmas stories to kick off the spirit of the season!
One story is about a former mean girl that loses her job and comes back home. Can she make amends with her childhood best friend, her sister, and others who she made miserable with her nastiness?
The second story was my favorite! Willow's longtime boyfriend dumps her right before they are set to take a two week train trip on the Christmas Express. She decides to take the trip on her own and realizes her heart may not be broken after all.
The last story is about Kacey. She loves living in the big city, but comes home to help her sister her bakery while working remote. She reconnects with her former classmate, but she plans to head back to her old life once the holidays are over.
On the Way to Christmas is a well written collection of novellas. I definitely recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
On the Way to Christmas is perfect for the reader looking for short, sweet stories during the busiest time of the year. Each novella is a stand alone story that is wholesome and are stand alone stories. My favorite was "Dashing through the Snow" about a two week Christmas train trip that made me wish I could take such a trip!
None of the stories will take the reader to a deeper level of reading, but are cute and will make the Christmas season better!
I received a complimentary copy of On the Way to Christmas thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley, but all opinions are my own.
