One of us is dead… but you don’t know who. The POV jumps between the present as Jenny, the town’s go-to beautician, talks to the head detective, and real story about a town of housewives who get shaken up when one of them gets left for a younger woman. You wouldn’t expect it, but this becomes feminist AF. Jenny and her bestie Keisha are the two normies in this town of the eccentric and wealthy.
The audiobook was entertaining as hell because each woman reveals her catty thoughts to the reader. You feel like the one friend that knows everybody’s secrets. Jenny is voiced by the narrator from Crescent City & Throne of Glass. The younger woman is voiced by the narrator from Reminders of Him. I felt like I was hanging out with the cool girls.
But the men are as dramatic as their wives! The tea is flowing every which way and the reveals are amazing. I definitely think one of them is a certified psychopath/narcissistic PD. I really enjoyed this.
I went back and forth between audio and physical here and it was so fun. Hard to put down, just totally addicting to listen/read. This story was one of those reality type that you love to hate, and Jeneva always throws a wrench into what I think I have figured out. Her books are mostly read within a day because I can't quit them! Always looking forward to what she comes out with next!
Wow this was definitely an interesting one. I love having different POV but sometimes this felt like it switched a bit too much.
I was really hoping for more of a bombshell at the end. Overall it was still a good thriller with lots of twists.
The narrators for this one were great. I genuinely was laughing at times from the way they made these characters seem. The book was pretty standard issue for a gossipy town "thriller". Nothing was too shocking and the women stayed in their tropes. Definitely a good audiobook for a roadtrip or something, nothing groundbreaking to me at least.
This was like the adult version of mean girls... and I was here for it. There is just something about the atmosphere of a salon that makes people mouths open like an underpaid therapist... that just made this setting so believable. Be warned that this is a book where you might not like most of the characters or their characters very much and that is why the story was so believable and worked so well. This gives desperate housewives with a mixture of real housewives and I thought overall it was just a fun journey to be along for.
I had way too much fun reading One of Us is dead. I used to be OBSESSED with Real Housewives and this book reminded me of it soo much. Rich women because of their husband's with nothing but time on their hands. TIME TO GOSSIP THAT IS! All these women were toxic with a capital T but that's what made it so much fun! Who was murdered? Who was the killer? I absolutely loved how this story was told. It literally kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time because I had no idea who it was going to be. Honestly, it could have been any of them. These women were seriously beyond spoiled, and expected everything to be handed to them. It wasn't until certain things started going south that some of these ladies got the reality checks that they needed. I don't want to say too much and give anything away but this is definitely a read you don't want to miss out on!!

Thoughts:
Jeneva Rose is definitely one of my auto buyer" authors, especially after reading the "Perfect Marriage" last year. enjoyed all the non- stop drama and the bitchy housewives vibes I got from this book. The wicked and twisty plot kept
me reading instead of doing my household chores. Seriously, how cool would it be to have a salon where you could drink and gossip with friends?
I am so grateful to have listened to this as an audiobook.
The narrators did a FABULOUS job reading Jeneva’s PHENOMMMM suspense/thriller!!
A friend wrote me THE best comment when describing this story and I told her I was putting it into my review…
“A solid 5⭐️ for me ~ bingeable, drama, all the trash tv you want served with a side of murder and so many twists!”
That basically summed it up perfectly!
Thank you JENEVA!! (first and foremost) for writing this absolutely amazing book! And thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for approving my request to listen to the audiobook.
I was so happy to have had the opportunity to listen to this one on audio! what a great story-one of my favorites of the year! I can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy!
One of Us Is Dead was a really fun quick read and well written.
So much drama! Gossipy, mean, rich housewives up to no good, getting whatever they want. There were twists and turns and a bit of thriller. Don’t forget the red herrings thrown at us to keep us off the of the track!
The rich-people-problems trope is so good. Its giving reality tv drama.
If you're into audiobooks this one is terrific! The narrators were entertaining and really brought each character to life.
This is also available in the Audible plus catalogue so why not give it try!
This book was okay. I was excited about this book, and I listened to the audiobook to be productive while reading. But it was difficult for me to focus because there were so many different POVs. When I first started listening to the audiobook, I figured there were only a few narrators as I had a hard time differentiating from the 5- it took time for me to remember whose POV I was in as the narrators all sounded the same. But at the end of the book, it said there were 5 narrators so I was confused about why they were so difficult to differentiate. I understand that all the characters were from the south, but not all people from the south sound the same.
Now regarding the actual book. Obviously, from the "present" chapters, one of the main characters dies by the end. I was ready for that character to die by the 60% mark. I don't understand why the book was so long just for her to die. I guess there were some things in that last 40% that were important, but not all of it was needed in any way.
I only gave this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I thought the story flowed pretty well. The characters were well developed. I would say this was a quick beach read type of book.
I liked that there were several narrators. They really helped to bring out the personalities of the characters.
This was a fast read but I did not feel like I was reading a thriller. Sometimes the characters confuse me since there are a lot of girls to keep up with. Overall, it was a fun and quick read. I just think that there is nothing special about this book and if you pass on this, you wouldnt miss anything.
Jeneva Rose is a new favourite author, and though initially I didn't think I was going to love the opulence of this book, the reader is compelled to keep listening due to either loving or hating her characters. The surprise twist at the end is also 10/10. A favourite of 2022, no doubt.
DNF, this one wasn’t for me! I absolutely love the cover of the book though! I have read a lot of other reviews about this book and completely agree!
I loved the narrator for this story. The plot was very Mean Girls, and the ending was unpredictable!
Overall, I would say this book was “ok.” I really liked the idea for it, but sometimes I was a little bored with the salon talk. Some of the scenes seemed a little unrealistic and forced into the story. This was my first book by this author, and although this wasn’t an incredible read for me I’d give her other books a try. 3/5
OH MY WORD!! Can I give it more stars?? This guilty
pleasure book was juicy, salacious, and unputdownable!!
Take a group of rich housewives sprinkle in betrayals
affairs, secrets...and murder and you have this book!
@jenevaroseauthor did an outstanding job weaving this
book around 5 different main characters in such a flawless
way! I couldn't get enough and I 100% see this as a movie
one day!!
A BIG thank you to @netgalley @blackstonepublishing and
@jenevaroseauthor for this advanced copy!

ONE OF US IS DEAD by Jeneva Rose is a book that kept me laughing and guessing from beginning to end. Knowing that area in the late 70s made this even better. The audiobook is fabulous: excellent writing with top notch narration. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this one. I wasn't sure who was the victim and who was the murderer. It was cleverly written with multiple povs.
