This book was definitely not for me… Thriller isn’t my favorite genre so maybe that’s why, but I most likely won’t recommend this.
I tried reading this one but it was not for me. I couldn’t get engaged in the story. Thank you for the opportunity to read this.
One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose was BRILLIANT! I wanted to read this one and was thrilled to see an audiobook version of it. The publisher splashed out on a different voice actor to bring to life each of the main leading ladies of this book and it is a work of art! I was pleasantly surprised not see the ending coming! I wish I could give this one ten stars!
One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose
Brief Summary: Wow-welcome to Buckhead the drama capitol! The drama centers around 4 women; Jenny, Cristal, Shannon, and Olivia. Shannon is divorced by her politician husband in favor of young Cristal. The novel depicts how the group handles this in dramatic fashion until one of them is dead. Told in alternating segments before and after the crime; I kept the pages turning! I absolutely loved the author’s last book; The Perfect Marriage and was so excited to read this one!
Highlights: This book is the perfect summer beach read and mindless escape that made me thankful for the lack of interpersonal drama in my life. At times, there was so much drama I had a hard time keeping it straight! I also appreciated the diversity brought into the mix. I didn’t see the big twist coming and really enjoyed learning how the crime was pulled off. This would be great on screen!
Audio Narration: The audio narration was excellent and I feel like it brought the characters to life! Highly recommend!
Explanation of Rating: 4/5 – pack this one for your trip or beach/pool bag

If you are like me, you'll abandon your entire TBR for an audiobook with a full cast of narrators, and this audiobook IS IT. You're welcome, and I'm sorry.
SYNOPSIS:
Five women of Buckhead live the life of ease, luxury, and all things - MONEY. Their lives overlap in one place on a regular basis, Glow, the salon to the town's elite. Jenny, the salon owner, is the town's confidant, learning their secrets, both dirty and fun. The drama is reality tv level, until one of them ends up dead.
NOTES:
- Multiple narrators, can feel complicated while reading (I felt the urge to take notes, until I started the audiobook instead)
- Instagrammable Cover
- Author is hilarious on social media, watch her TikToks
RATING:
5/5 Stars
I do think if I had read this one, instead of listened to it, my rating would be slightly different. The cast of narrators really added so much to the story, and made this one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I have listened to.
One of Us is Dead: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jeneva Rose coming in with another solid book! I'm a huge fan of hers and if you don't follow her on Instagram, go do it now! One of Us is Dead was the @thereadroversbookclub pick for May! I thought the book was a solid mystery/thriller with drama and rich society cattiness. It had some Real Housewives vibes and made me think of The Hunting Wives by May Cobb. I really enjoy books that have unlikeable characters but you can't stop reading because you have to find out what happens to them. This book pulls you in because you don't know who is dead so you've got to try to figure it out while also listening for clues as to who did it. The story is told in multiple perspectives (also a favorite element of mine) and jumps from past to present where a police interview is occurring. Overall, I loved this book and will read anything Jeneva writes.
Really enjoyed this one! It gave me Big Little Lies vibes. Good fun, enjoyable characters.
Thanks to NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing and Rose for an eAlc copy, in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars. This was a fun read packed with witty dialogue, snarkiness, characters you despised, characters you rooted for, betrayal, greed, a little of everything. The only thing missing for me was the level of wickedness. I felt this would have been amazing if the cattyness and backstabbing had been a little more aggressive and over the top.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the audiobook! I Loved the narrators for this audiobook! At first, they were all blending together but then their different personalities came through. This was very Real Housewives meets Big Little Lies. It was fun, dark, wicked, and suspenseful.

Meet Buckhead, the town where housewives behave at their worst and murder is the special of the day.
The group of women included:
Olivia: she is egocentric and will do anything to be on top. She has waited years to help destroyed Shannon now that she is down on her luck.
Shannon: once the most powerful woman in town, married to Bryce, the rich politician until her marriage falls apart and he leaves her for a younger woman whom he marries.
Crystal: a young woman from Texas and now the wife of Bryce.
Karen: a very successful real state agent. She is married to a successful plastic surgeon and has a small child.
Jenny: the owner of Glow. The IT beauty salon. The place where these women backstab each other, drink champagne and tell their secrets intend it or not.
I had so much fun listening/reading this one. The women were catty, spoiled, and plastic but entertaining nonetheless. The audio narrators Andi Arndt, Hillary Huber, Elizabeth Evans, Brittany Pressley, and Cassandra Campbell did a wonderful job at fleshing out these women for me. I will say Jenny was my favorite since she was the most down-to-earth person in the group. I did root for almost all of them through the book.
After finishing listening to this guilty pleasure, I know I will read Jeneva Rose's next book.
Cliffhanger: No

Buckhead is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the country. A group of women are members of an exclusive salon, Glow. Jenny is the owner of Glow and she has sunk her entire life into making the salon successful. She has created a salon where the women all congregate as they prepare for the biggest events in their lives. Shannon is the Queen Bee - until she and her husband divorce. And then her glamourous life is reduced to a rented apartment and being left out of invites. Crystal is the new wife and just wants to be liked, but the excessive wealth makes her uncomfortable. Olivia has been waiting to take Shannon's place as Queen Bee and she will stop at nothing to wear the crown. Karen is happy to be a follower, but lately she has been listless and unfulfilled. One of these women is dead. But who killed her and are the others in danger, too?
One Of Us Is Dead was so good! As the reader, it took me a while to get into the book. Readers don't know who is dead until nearly the end of the book. The book goes back and forth with the timeline. The present, with someone being interviewed by the police, and the past as the events leading to the death are unfolding. I had a hard time getting into the story, because all I could think of for the first few chapters was that these women are just horrible human beings. And I wasn't entirely wrong, but not everybody is as they appear. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS.
Bottom Line - One of Us Is Dead had so many twists and turns, I didn't know what was going to happen next. And those are really the best kind of books!

Hattie had to sell a house she is flipping at a tremendous loss. Enter a Hollywood producer and some help and she starts another flip. Things do not run as smoothly as planned though.
This book has it all: mystery, murder, and romance. It kept me wanting more from the very beginning and with just enough twists and turns to keep anyone interested. This was definitely a five star read for me. I recommend it to just about anyone. Especially people who do house flipping and who will understand how sometimes things just don’t go as planned.
A quick, fast, and fun read! If you loved Desperate Housewives or books like THE HUNTING PARTY/THE GUEST LIST by Lucy Foley, you'll love this one.
This gave me all the Real Housewives vibes. What a bunch of entitled rich ladies with too much time on their hands! I found them lovely to hate, ha ha. That being said it drug on a bit for me but the ending left me totally satisfied! Such a fun mystery.
The audio was great! I always love a full cast and this one didn’t disappoint at all. Easily sped up and fun to listen!
❄️Book Review❄️
One of Us is Dead by @jenevaroseauthor
To know Jeneva you discover she is entertaining on and off the page and there was no exception in this wickedly dramatic book.
One sentence synopsis: a bunch of rich bitches who enjoy frequenting their favorite upscale salon, but at what price?
Multiple pov in alternate chapters will always be my jam and it was very easy to learn the characters quickly based on the writing style. I was surprised how Rose made such unlikable characters become much more likeable by the end of the book. With the exception of one (IYKYK).
In the vein of big little likes, desperate housewives, and mean girls this was for sure the most entertaining book I’ve read all year. Thank you @netgalley and @blackstonepublishing for my e arc and audio arc. The full cast of characters narrating this gem was hands down the best audio listen of the year.
Another great read from Jeneva Rose! Get ready to dive deep into the drama of Buckhead, where the ladies are catty, the men have their own secrets, and there is always somebody listening. While I absolutely LOVED this novel, listening to it on audio was a bit confusing. The POV changes with each chapter, which would be much easier to track if I was reading a physical copy of it. This lead to a bit of confusion for me but didn't change how I felt about it overall!
This book doesn't fit into a single category, which is part of why I loved it. It's a bit of everything-humor, romance, and thriller, but the single thread that runs through every topic is friendship and betrayal. Jenny owns a high-end salon in a wealthy neighborhood and she watches out for her clients. She knows all the intimate details of their lives and keeps them close. The characters are both lovable and not at all likeable. It's dark, funny, and an enjoyable read.
Part of BookSparks’ #SPRC2022, this one had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Murder mystery meets The Real Housewives—with dual timelines and multiple POVs, the way Jeneva wrote this made me feel like I was experiencing a movie. I mostly listened to this on audiobook thanks to Net Galley and Blackstone Publishing and would highly recommend it because of the amazing narrators—it truly gave me a full experience!! Ty for my gifted copies💗
This was a fast paced thriller. One that has a reunion of friends coming back together after many years. They address what happened to their friend and who did it. I loved it and at one moment everyone was a suspect. I loved it.
