A Starlit Trio to the Library is about a little girl on a nighttime adventure with her animal friends. They sail a raft to the library at night to find a bedtime story, following the constellations along the way. This story has the most beautiful, calm illustrations and would make for a great bedtime story itself. The author used great descriptive words that will enhance your child’s vocabulary. The book even comes with a QR code for a song written specially for the story.
Thank you to Chouette Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this beautiful nighttime book. My children and I enjoyed it!
The first thing that caught my eye with this book was the beautiful cover. It looked so fun and colourful, plus the constellations - I knew my space loving son would like it. We read it together. The text encouraged him to ask questions and be involved in the story. I thought it was really cute, especially the silly puns like the skunk says "It stinks" or the squirrel saying "That's nuts". Nice bedtime story.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve never read anything by this team before and I’m so happy that I discovered them here on NetGalley! I’ll admit, the cover is what drew me in originally but the story absolutely lives up to what’s on the outside. Such a sweet story and stunning illustrations! I’ll be checking out the first book in the series and adding these to my physical shelf at home.
Oh my goodness this was the sweetest picture book! One I definitely want to get a physical copy of! The story itself was charming and whimsical, and the illustrations were so beautiful. The spectrum of colours and contrast on the illustrations were just divine, I especially loved the constellations in the sky twinkling on nearly every page. The fact that the story is about a girl and her animal friends taking a midnight trip to the library because she just needs to go right then and there was wonderfully adorable. Without a doubt will be gifting this to some of my nieces and nephews.
As a mom of 4 kids 5 & under, we read a TON of childrens books together. So I figure I’ll start reviewing some of the childrens books we read together!
A Starlit Trip to the Library by Andrew Katz and Julianna Leveille-Trudel
Illustrated by Joseph Sherman
This is the story of a group of friends who go camping and want to read a bedtime story but they forgot their book! Together they embark on a trip to the library at night to save their evening plans.
The story is a cute one that definitely encourages children to want to visit the library. I appreciate that quite a bit. The vocabulary is a bit old for my kids age range but I don’t think that’s a negative. I think challenging vocabulary is helpful to improve a child’s vocabulary as well. This books is a great one for that.
The illustrations are beautifully done and definitely kept my children’s attention.
I really enjoyed the images, the dialogue on the other hand just felt a tad too complex for what can be a very simple but sweet storyline.
This book is super cute. I can't wait to read it with my speech kids! I reviewed it to find plot points, tier 2 vocabulary (it's full of it!!) and other questions I can be prepared to ask my kids. This is a great book for language based activities. The pictures are also gorgeous. Thank you!
I had previously discovered this book in its French version, and I had absolutely loved it!!
The magic still works with this English version. It's a truly enchanting story: a nocturnal adventure from the forest to the library under a bright starry sky with the lovely and friendly company of animals.
As a bonus, you can now listen to Julia's song as featured at the end of the book, and it's precious.
Job well done! :)
the word library in the title intrigued me. the book was beautiful. all those colorful drawings 🥺 sweet!!!!!
Gorgeous illustrations. They are colorful and engaging and more enjoyable than the story itself. I like the premise of the story, but think the word choice could be off-putting to some. As a librarian, I took offense to Bear's statement about why he approached the library the way he did. At my library, everyone is welcome and anyone can get a library card.
A starlit trip to the library is a story about a little girl who takes a trip with some animal friends to find her library book. The illustrations are beautiful and the story itself is a cute idea. However I was not a fan of the overall writing itself. I felt that it was too wordy for the age group intended. Simple short sentences would make this story much more enjoyable.
A Starlit Trip to the Library was such a delight to my book loving heart. The illustrations were dreamt and colorful all at the same time. This was a joy to read to my children for bedtime and one we will visit again and again.
An adorable bedtime story for all ages. The illustrations are amazing, the adventure to the library guided by stars is fun but I would have loves to see a little bit more of how the constellations guide the way. I adored this book and so did my two year old, so much so we read it a few times over!
** 3.5 Stars, rounded up**
I absolutely am obsessed with the illustrations in this book. They are so bright, whimsical, and have beautiful details.
The story follows Julia camping with her forest friends. When she goes to read everyone a bedtime story she finds her book is missing. Luckily her bear friend Bertrand shows up and that go on a night time river adventure to the library.
It was interesting the tid bits of education pieces of this book. Such as b the animal constellations or that not everyone can get a library card. There were also quite a few big words that is not regularly used by Bertrand. Adding to both the kids and parents vocabulary.
What didn't really work for is was Bertrand writing/speaking style. It felt a bit out of place and hard to read aloud to my little one. Overall my 4 year old did enjoy the book, but got a bit bored by the end.
I would recommend this for 4 - 6 years old. It's a fun book and kids will enjoy looking at all the details on the Illustrations.
Thank you to Netgalley and Chouette Publishing, CrackBoom! Books for the opportunity to read this E-Arc. My review is voluntarily my own.
Julia and her friends have been spending a lovely night camping together, making flower crowns, decorating tents, and even roasting nuts! When the evening begins to come to a close, everyone is excited for Julia to read them their bedtime story, using fun voices, and making sure to speak quietly at the end.
When Julia realizes she forgot her book at home, it'll take the help of their friend Bertrand the seafaring bear to take them on a late night journey to the library to find a bedtime story.
A Starlit Trip to the Library by Andrew Katz and Juliana Léveillé-Trudel is a fun and whimsical story with wonderful illustrations by Joseph Sherman. Definitely a fun read with captivating pictures for young readers.
Thank you to Chouette Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this title.
Gorgeous, magical illustrations!
This book promotes reading and storytelling, with a shout-out to our often forgotten libraries. It also introduces readers to seafaring navigation via constellations, and includes some additional educational information at the end of the book.
This is a bright and colorful book. I love that the adventure in this book revolves around storytelling. This book would easily be a favorite and read by both adults and children many times.
A beautifully illustrated book for younger kids.
We go on a night visit to the library - we must be brave in the dark, but we have stars to lead our way!
Be warned however - the story is short enough that a child may ask for another or to read it again.
Definitely the perfect book for a little one who loes stories.
Ooh a grand adventure to the library at night! This is my kind of trip to the library! A great story accompanied with colorful, vibrant illustrations.
4.5 stars
What a lovely book! A cute story containing two of my favourite things: books and animals - I just had to read it when I saw it on NetGalley.
I liked the friendship between the characters, the way Bertrand talked and at the end of the book the children can learn about star constellations and star-guided navigation.
The illustrations are really beautiful: so colourful and detailed - absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book.
