Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc! I had fun reading this book from start to finish. A plus sized protagonist, sex work positivity, bi-sexual disasters, and a Christmas themed town is what I needed this holiday season. I have co-workers and patrons who would love this book. This book was both sexy and sweet! I'm usually not a fan of dual narratives, but In loved both perspectives.
what a fun holiday read! It made me excited for the winter, which is really a compliment because i hate the winter lol. BUT i loved the characters and the representation in this book with fat rep and the sex work as well. This book was fun and enjoyable and definitely sexy.
This was a fun holiday read to get me in that Christmas spirit a little early! I love a cute sexy rom com and this was definitely that! Throwing a plus sized porn star and a bad boy pop star together for a Hallmark-esque channel, Hope Channel creates some fun drama. Bee Hobbes is trying to move into the movie industry in terms of rom coms and Nolan is trying to support his family after his band manager ran off with the group’s money and his reputation has been fried since a controversial Olympics game. Both have high stakes in the upcoming movie that a relationship between the two could hinder. Oh and the fact that Bee just happens to be Nolan’s favorite porn star? Cherry on the top!
The steam and heat from Sierra Simone was definitely as sparks started from the moment they met. And the sweet cute romance from Julie Murphy combined with it had you rooting for them to work past the hurdles. It’s a fun and sexy Christmas story which I really enjoyed!
This was a super cute Christmas romance. Loved the Hallmark movie with steam combo—LOTS of steam. Nice diversity among the characters, though I feel like some of them were pretty one-dimensional. On the whole, really cute holiday read. Would recommend!
My thanks to NetGalley and Avon for an advance reader’s copy.
When a porn producer sets out to film a squeaky clean Christmas movie, what could go wrong? He definitely didn’t see losing half his crew and leading lady in an accident that keeps them from filming. Or that the only people who can replace them on the projects timeline are from his other production studio.
This was a spicy delight, and I’m so happy that Julie Murphy brought her writing and amazing fat characters to adult romance! Plus, hopefully this is the bridge I need to finally connect with Sierra Simone’s more risqué work 👀
Bee is strong and sexy, and given the opportunity to star in a movie with her clothes on is an amazing opportunity for her. Her and the porn crew members trying to be incognito lends to hilarity, and the fact that she is cast opposite her boy band teenage crush, Nolan, makes everything so much better.
Nolan and Bee are electric together, and seeing Nolan try to rehab his bad boy image while lusting after his favourite Closed Door subscription brought balance. I loved that they both had the obsession with each other’s public image and get to know each other as real people too.
I need more Teddy Ray Fletcher chaos please, and I’m hoping this is only the beginning of a beautiful world of stories! I’d highly recommend this book in every form you can get your hands on!
As a big girl who is a fan of Hallmark movies and smut, this was amazing. I loved the characters, the ridiculousness of everything, and the love and empowerment. Also, hot hot hot.
It took me a little bit to get into the book and I took some breaks for personal reasons, but once I actually got into it, I was finishing it that night! What caught my attention and made me want to read this book originally were the authors: Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone, and the cute cover. If I’ve learned anything from past reading experiences is that the cute cartoon covers are always the ones with the best spice and this book did not disappoint. Besides the spicy action, Bee and Nolan were so cute! With both of the celebrity fantasies coming true (Bee with Nolan and vice versa) and the fact that Bee (an adult film actress) was (accidentally) casted to be in a family friendly Christmas movie… what’s not to love!
Be sure to read it when it comes out September 20, 2022!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Harper Voyager for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for an honest review!
This is the baby of two amazing romance authors that I loved and couldn't put down!! It had the steamy parts that we know Sierra Simone for and the rom com humor we love from Julie Murphy. This was a book match made in the snowy fields of Vermont. Great for this holiday season!
A Merry Little Meet Cute is a lovely, sex-positive holiday romp! It's refreshing and quirky, while still having cozy Christmas feelings and I'll definitely be recommending it to friends looking for a holiday romance read.
That being said, despite all the fun, the story itself fell a little bit flat for me. I think the authors packed so many different elements into the story that none of them quite got the depth or attention they deserved. I loved all of the individual elements, but something just didn't click for me. Also, as a huge Sierra Simone fan, I was expecting a certain level of spice and this didn't quite deliver on that front--but that was to be expected with a traditionally published romance book versus her self-published work.
This is a wonderful, funny and not too sweet Christmas read filled with lots of steam. I was laughing out loud every other page while reading this book, especially during the comedy of errors that leads to these two characters acting in a movie together.
👍
+ The representation in this book was A+. A sex positive, body positive, sex worker positive holiday read with 2 bi MCs!
+ The premise for this is just so perfect. An ex boy band member who’s trying to rehabilitate his image (Nolan) and a porn actress who’s trying to get into other kinds of acting (Bee) are cast as the main actors in a Christmas movie for a Hallmark equivalent channel. They’re both massive fans of the other, but they’re also not allowed to have sex. Cue the hijinks.
+ I quite liked both Nolan and Bee. They felt like well rounded and unique characters, who both had their own stuff going on outside the relationship, which added some nice depth to their characters. As I mention below, their relationship could have gone deeper, but it was a cute romance with a lot of great scenes, tension, and build up.
+ There were some great side characters as well. From Uncle Ray-Ray the porn producer to Pearl, the eccentric screenwriter, they were all full of heart and a little quirky.
+ Small town setting, though not just any small town… a Christmas themed small town with a strip club called North Pole!!

- I’m not sure if the book did enough to separate the "fan feelings" the two felt for each other from their real life romance. Which at times made it difficult to buy into the depths of their love.
- Especially considering how much they were referred to, it was truly a shame the toys were not used at all!
- For people who are trying to be secretive they make a lot of silly decisions.
Thank you so much to Avon and NetGalley for the eARC!
I ran to request this asap!!!! A celebrity romance love where a pornstar and a member of a disbanded boy group fall in love! One thing that Bee (FL) doesn't know is that Nolan (ML) is a subscriber to her OnlyFans *GASPPPPPP
Lots of spinoff and side character stories which I actually enjoyed and definitely a great wintery readddd
This was delightful! I loved the whole plot of the book and the characters. Nolan and Bee were so good together that you can't help but fall for them. Their characters were the highlight of the book and are what made the story addictive. The only complaint I had was there were too many side stories started that were just not needed or felt completed. But minus that this is a chef's kiss of a holiday romance!
I had high hopes for this book and indeed Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone are a dream team. Julie Murphy creates richly sympathetic characters, and Sierra Simone brings the sexiness, and they paired beautifully. This was exactly as cute and funny and swoony as I want my Christmas romcoms to be! I hope they write a new one every year and I hope they get made into movies!
A Merry Little Meet Cute was a fun holiday romance. A very spicy romance. So if you don't want a ton of spice in your novel, this is probably not for you. But, if you don't mind a lot of sexy moments, you will enjoy Bee and Nolen's romance. I give A Merry Little Meet Cute 3.5/5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy, and Sierra Simone. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for this ARC.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for a digital readers copy in exchange for a honest review.
Don't judge a book by it's cover or a book by it's movie, right? Well at first glance, you would think A Merry Little Meet Cute is a wholesome, cutesy holiday romance, But it's not. It's so much more and it's amazing. This was my first Julie Murphy or Sierra Simone novel and I loved it. I loved all the representation in this book: a plus size heroine, LGBTQ+ characters, and sex positivity just to name a few. It's a story of juxtaposed people finding a common ground, of second chances to fulfill a dream, and rising up through adversity. The spice level was definitely more than moderate. The characters were well developed and relatable. I would agree with others that this is a Hallmark Movie with a lot of spice.
Nothing I love more than a holiday romance book. So when I saw Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone (two of my favorite authors) teamed up to write one, I knew I had to read it. I’m glad I did. This was wonderful, spicy Christmas romance. I loved the way the relationship developed and the plus size representation. I will be recommending this to all my Christmas loving friends.
This holiday romp was exactly what I needed to get into the holiday spirit!
I loved the set up and the characters were instantly loveable and relatable. I would have loved a smidge more steam, but overall this book was such a delight and so cute and spicy!
I loved this book! I found that the dual perspectives actually felt different to me, I could tell which character I was reading from, which isn't always the case with dual POVs! I thought that the characters were loveable, and I loved the representation of two bisexual characters! I thought this was a funny, well done, holiday romance and I am looking forward to more books by these authors!
This book was really good! It was a little bit of Christmas with a lot of larger and more important messages. I really loved both characters and all of the side characters. It was spicy in the best way and I just really enjoyed it and think it’s a really fun book for the holidays.
I enjoyed this book! I liked the fact that Bee was a plus sized woman; that felt really inclusive. Obviously she was a porn star, but I felt like this book was a little too steamy for my liking.
I found myself laughing out loud multiple times and loved the cozy feeling it gave.
