4 our of 5 stars - If you ask me, I'll tell you to read it.

I am always curious where a long running series will go in order to keep the story line new and fresh. This one kept me guessing as to "who done it".

3.5 rounded up
If you like Temperance then you will like this addition to the series. It brings in her daughter Katy more.
For me Tempe has not changed in all this years and I guess I am losing patience with the never ending impulsivity and never ending resulting injuries for which medical attention is always refused.
But I could just be a curmudgeon. If you liked her previous books you will like this one.

I was given a copy by Netgalley, opinions are my own.

This was a quick and easy read. I found it enjoyable but predictable. The predictability was actually pretty enjoyable since I couldn't wait to see if I was right. I love when a villain is crazy and this one defiantly fits that bill. I thought this was a great way to spend an afternoon.

I feel like this series is getting a little long, but that said, this is still an enjoyable read, if slightly predictable. I love Temperance so much!

Tempe Brennan is at it again solving numerous murders with a cast of likeable characters. This one had a lot more medical terminology that had me skipping paragraphs. Give this a read as the twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end. 3.5 stars.

Oh how I love the Temperance Brennan series! This was a book I just couldn't put down. Every time I thought I had the mystery all figured out, something else would happen and I'd find myself readjusting my guess.

I received an ARC copy of #ColdColdBones via #NetGalley.

The story wasn't bad & it kept me mostly hooked the entire book. The writing style was a bit distracting though. I've read every Temperance Brennan novel, and this was not up to par with the rest. There were parts that really don't match with Kathy Reichs' usual style. I noticed it as well in the previous book, but it's way more pronounced in this one. I can't tell if she is trying to change up her style or not, but it really hurt the overall narrative.

Temperance was also extremely reckless in this book...more so than in past books. And it has nothing to do with her daughter being present & in trouble. She made some really boneheaded decisions that had me practically yelling at the book.

Overall, the book wasn't bad but definitely was a little off compared to past books.

This highly anticipated book did not disappoint. Both Brennan and the reader will find themselves confused by new cases which echo past . Only by putting the past and present side by side can Brennan see the pattern and , almost too late, discover the murderer. Though the premise seems a bit far-fetched, it was a great read.

Kathy Reichs writes a tight, well written mystery thriller. Plots are always interesting. Dialog is always smart and snappy and the characters are well developed. They are smart and human; after the first few books they are like old friends. Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist - an expert on bones. She consults with police whenever bones are found, To identify the bones, and often to figure out the details of how and when the person died. In spite of the gruesomeness of her job, the author does a good job of being just descriptive enough without making the reader squirm. There is a great balance between Tempe's work life and home life, which contributes to the depth of character and feeling like she is a dear friend. In this latest book, there is a copycat killer on the loose, seeming to have Tempe in his/her sight. From an odd delivery of an eyeball to the final climatic page turning confrontation with the killer, this is a non-stop great ride. The other thing that is nice about this series, is that there are no lingering details, there is always a quite natural wrap up between characters, in this case between Tempe and her daughter, Katy who missed the final confrontation and got answers to her questions over a cold glass of lemonade.

21st installment in the Temperance Brennan series can be read alone or part of the series for more in-depth understanding of the storyline/characters. In this book, a human eyeball in a box is delivered to Tempe's doorstop, which leads to a discovery of a series of killings that appear to be reenactments of some of Tempe's most gruesome earlier cases. During this investigation, Tempe is also trying to deal with her daughter's return from military service. Her daughter shows signs of suffering from PTSD and her behavior has become unpredictable. This time the location is focused near Tempe's home in Charlotte, North Carolina. The suspense and tension builds through the book. Good plot and loved seeing so many regular characters again. I looks forward to the next installment of Tempe's adventures. The author does a great job catching a non reader of the series up on the relevant information as well as details that are related to past books.

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and Simon & Schuster (Australia).

This story starts fast and just keeps going. I love Temperance Brennan stories. There are a lot of twists and turns. I enjoyed learning about how Katy is doing now that she is out of the army. This book was hard to put down. I received a copy of this book from Scribner for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

A gripping storyline with strong characters. She is definitely an author I will pick up again and again.

Forensic Anthropologist Tempe Brennan works for the United States and Canada. She is excellent at what she does and is in demand on both sides of the border.

Tempe's daughter has PTSD she developed after serving in the Army. Tempe doesn't want to overstep into her daughter's life, but she wants to help where she can. Add to that, she finds a frozen eyeball on her porch and starts an investigation into who put it there and why.

It seems that someone is mimicking Tempe's old cases with fresh kills. Then her daughter Katy disappears.

There are many twists and turns in this story, and it kept me guessing throughout. This is the 21st book in the series that keeps getting better and better..

Temperance Brennon is back. Her daughter, Katy, is back in Charlotte and they discover an eyeball on the doorstep. The discovery leads to a whole lot more. Arc from NetGalley.

Book #21 in the Temperance Brennan series by Kathy Reichs finds us in North Carolina where our favorite anthropolic forensic scientist is helping her daughter move back to the local area. Kathy Reichs has placed our scientist in some unusual places under unusual circumstances. This book has her investigating some crime scenes that seem familiar and not in a good way. We'll reunite with some old favorites and meet some new characters that we're holding judgement on.

Ever since we met Tempe in 1997, we've followed her quirky methods and cheered her on, even when we weren't quite sure why. Kathy Reichs gave us Tempe ad since, she has given her a life, past, present and future that keeps us coming back to see what she'll stir up now and how she'll get out of this jam. Let's hope there's alot more Tempe left in Kathy.

When I went into this book I had no idea it was the 21st in a series! Goes to show it can completely be a standalone! This book is everything you could want- shock, suspense, twists & turns- a very entertaining book all around!

The book starts out with an eyeball on the porch. If that doesn't grab your interest I don't know what will!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced e copy! I'm looking forward to book 22!

I loved the Bones TV show but had never read the series. The author was visiting our library, so I picked the new title up to read before her visit. I thought the story was ok - it's a little science heavy for my taste, but not enough to turn me off. A solid mystery.

Oh my gosh! This is a must read, it has all of the ingredients to make a great psychological thriller. There was nonstop action to keep you at edge of your seat. I savored every moment of and rejoiced when the killer was apprehended. Kathy Reichs has a brilliant imagination. #ColdColdBones

Reading Cold, Cold Bones by Kathy Reichs was a bit like "old home week," if you're a regular Reichs reader. The main plotline (based upon previous cases) takes you on a ride while remaining in the Charlotte region. I have to say my main complaint would be the lack of "Montreal" and although Ryan does play a part, it was really all Temperance and the cops.

Tempe Brennan books are always entertaining and this one is no different. I've read most of the 21 books in this series and many of the people are familiar. In this book, Reichs goes back to characters from previous books as she looks for the person who is leaving clues for her such as the human eyeball. It's an interesting 'walk down memory lane' of Reichs books. Avid readers of the series will especially enjoy this book but it stands alone for new readers too.
