I enjoyed this book. It's been awhile since I have read a romantic suspense book and I greatly missed that genre. It has left me wanting for more.
I can't say I didn't enjoy this one because I really did, but there were parts where I was just like what? why?
especially the ending. I don't want to spoil anything but there was a part right there that I just couldn't understand.
why would someone do so much for someone they just met?
but overall the story was enjoyable, interesting, thrilling and definitely gripping. also with a bit disturbing information about wolves and how they like to kill :))
I loved Cameron. her take-no-shit attitude and how she trusted her senses. powerful character!
thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book.
I was all in from the start of this one. I could not figure out if she was reliable, if her husband was really dead and who can Cameron trust. Holy cow to find out your husband may have been a serial killer after he is presumed dead. I have no words. That was a great hook. And while my gut instinct was right, I was still glued to my headphones listening to it all unfold.
Stacey Glemboski’s narration added to my enjoyment. I used every excuse I could to find some time to listen.
This is my first time reading this author and it will not be my last. I really enjoyed this one.
Cameron is a dentist whose husband was killed by a bear in a hunting accident. Several months after his death, Cameron discovers evidence that her husband, John, was a serial killer. As her life falls apart with the news of her husband's crimes, Cameron becomes convinced that her husband is still alive and is hiding out in the Alaskan wilderness, She sets out to find him and have him captured. But she has a secret of her own that might be exposed in the hunt, and Cameron has to decide whether to risk her secrets coming to light in order to find justice for John's victims.
The Final Hunt by Audrey Cole was a good read, though I was able to figure out most of the twists fairly early in the book.
I was given an ARC of The Final Hunt by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a perfect book to read in the cold months of the new year. I really enjoyed listening to this while the cold wind rattled the windows as I curled up under a blanket drinking tea . The narrator was fantastic and really captured the character of Cameron.
The story was tight and Cameron is a strong, interesting character. Plus, she is a dentist and for some reason it made me like her more! It may be because we rarely see a character with that profession. It just made her more real to me.
I will admit that the reveal at the end was kind of obvious but it didn't take away from the story.
Cameron’s husband presumed dead after a supposed brutal bear attack. She uncovers photos which shed light on a horrific life her husband lived… serial killer. She knows she must uncover all the truth of who she was really married to. This novel’s chase kept my attention and I really enjoyed the narrator as well! If you’re looking for a captivating thriller novel…this one is for you! Thank you NetGalley & OrangeSky Audio.
The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole is and entertaining thriller. Cameron’s husband disappeared during a hunting trip and his body was never recovered. As Cameron is mourning her husband, she finds pictures of her husband with a dead body. Was her whole marriage a lie? Does Cameron have secrets she is hiding too. Without disclosing too many details about the plot, this book takes you into the Alaskan wilderness on a wild ride. I enjoyed it even though a few parts were a little far fetched. The narrator does a fabulous job in the audio version.
The Final Hunt By: Audrey J. Cole Narrated by: Stacey Glemboski was an excellent audiobook.and the narrator was brilliant, especially as it had good twists and turns throughout and had a great storyline plus had great short chapters.
I would highly recommend this book and looking forward reading more books by the author
Big thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for permitting me to read this.
This is the sort of book that I really can’t tell you too much about. It’s got some things that are obvious and some that aren’t. Though the obvious may just be so for a reason. Then there are all the twists and turns. This was a fun story.
John disappeared one day after hunting and he was presumed dead from a double bear attack. All would have been sad for his now widow, Cameron, until she found the pictures. It would seem that John had a role in some recent Seattle serial murders. Once the media got a hold of this information it completely destroyed her life. She lost her dental practice and was on the verge of losing her house too.
Cameron starts to see some things clearly and begins to wonder just how dead her husband really is.
This book is one that you’ll read rather quickly because you just get so absorbed in what’s going on. It’s well written, fast paced, and enjoyable.
This book was alright but missing the suspense and tension that I needed for it to be a good story. Cameron's husband is the main suspect in a number of serial killings, but that is not really explored in the story, its just a backdrop. I felt the author missed out on not making that more prominent in the book. Instead the book is focused on Cameron searching for her (dead) husband to get revenge.
The book that could have been a great hit, just wasn’t.
The premise follows Cameron after her husband died from a bear attack during a hunting trip. A few months after his death and disappearance she finds crime scene photos that pins him as the “Teacher killer” everyone has been looking for.
She starts to wonder if he’s really dead and goes on a hunt of her own, but this one is to find him.
While the book started out strong The plot was lacking the second half of the book. I could have seen such great twists that could have been written into the storyline and they just weren’t.
Absolutely NOTHING was shocking in this thriller. I guessed it all from very early on.
A huge bummer that it could have been better and my high hopes for it were crushed.
Thank you, NetGalley, for an audio-ARC of The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole.
Cameron's world is rocked when she finds videos of her recently dead husband and at a murder scene. Finding out that John was not the man she thought she loved, but instead a notorious serial killer makes her rethink everything she thought she knew. The Alaskan wilderness and information about wolves added to the story; however, overall the story was nothing new. Easily predictable and a bit too trope for my tastes. The narrator, Stacey Glemboski was a good voice for the main character and adjusted well to the many voices she portrayed.
I loved this book! It was on the shorter side, which meant the plot was action packed from start to finish. There is a serial killer, lead independent female character, and twisty plot that is in the wilderness. The combination is as good as it sounds.
I listened to the audiobook and felt that the narrator was easy to follow. She used good voice fluctuation which helped differentiate the characters.
This was a fun and easy read. It kept my attention, even though the plot was a bit predictable and some of the things that happened were really far-fetched. I really enjoyed the main character and felt for her with all she was going through. The descriptions of Alaska were incredibly vivid. It's my first experience with this author and I'd definitely like to check out more. I listened to the audiobook of this book and really enjoyed the narration.
Set in Alaska, The Final Hunt, is full of memorable characters with many twists and turns towards an amazing ending. I really enjoyed this audiobook.
This is the first book I have read from this author and had no idea what to expect. Wowzers ! The storyline (although at times a bit unrealistic) held my interest and kept me engaged. The character development was well done and at times I felt compassion and frustration (which is all good). I highly recommend this to those seeking a bit of suspense.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advance audio copy. All opinions are my own.
Audrey J. Cole shows the length one woman will go to, to make sure her Serial Killer husband is dead:
Cameron's husband John disappeared and died on a hunting trip, he was mauled by bears. Cameron wanting to feel closer to her husband decides to go up to his cabin, his favourite place. When Cameron is looking through some of his things, she discovers that he is the infamous Serial Killer, The Teacher Killer and immediately calls the police. Now that the ID of The Teacher Killer has been uncovered, everyone starts to question how much Cameron knew of her husband's activities. Cameron is now thinking that there is a possibility her husband is alive, with all his survival training and wanting to escape from his murders. Cameron is now on the hunt to make sure that her husband is truly dead.
This was a rough one to rate for me as I enjoyed 3/4 of the story and then the book lost me in the 1/4. I would have rated this book higher if some of the actions taken by the main character did not require me to go into a fantasy world to believe them, in short form Cameron should be dead. There is no doubt in my mind the events in the latter half of this book would occur in real life, then she would be dead. I'm okay when authors ask me to bend things a bit when it comes to books that are not fantasy, think of all the action adventure books where the lead character gets the shit kicked out of them but still has the ability to fight, the difference is that these people have a certain skill set that I can kind of believe it. Cameron has zero survival skills other than she can read a topical map and is a good shot. She had just learned to drive a snow mobile the previous day, has a book about wolves and that is about it. There is no way she would have survived.
I enjoyed the premise of this book, the idea that Cameron's serial killer husband could still be alive as he had the skill set to pull something like this off, awesome idea. I also believe she had no idea what her husband was up to as we have seen time and time again in real life the ability of serial killers to have families who know nothing of their darker side. I can also see the media hanging her out to dry convinced she must have known and help, that makes a better story right. So everything was there to make this a great easy read book but that last 1/4 just bugs me.
I never really felt like I knew Cameron as a character and she has very little skills in when it comes to investigative work, she really just goes through her husband's things and thinks about conversations from the past but I still enjoyed the story that Cole set out to portray here. The Detective (who's name escapes me and as I try to write this and after checking countless reviews no one mentions him, guess not a memorable character) POV seems unfished at the end of the book. Like he did all this extra work and investigation for nothing. It feels like Cole wasted him as a character.
I would try another book by Cole as I liked the premise of the book and for the most part how it was a well played out as novel, nothing really investigative or groundbreaking but it was able to keep me entertained and overall just an easy read. It was just the latter part of the book where Cole lost me and really took me out of enjoying the book as a whole.
Cheers!!!
I was blown away by how good this thriller was! I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so compelling!
Cameron’s husband disappeared while hunting and was presumed to have been attacked by a bear. Months later, unable to get over the loss of her husband Cameron finds crime photos, photos that incriminate him as a serial killer. Now Cameron is being blamed for her husband’s crimes and her life is ruined. The media destroyed her reputation. She lost her dental practice, and is on the brink of losing her home.
Much of the book Cameron is having to navigate the very harsh elements of Alaska is if you are a person who relishes in this type of challenge you will really enjoy her plight.
The narration was great and I really felt for Cameron’s circumstances! I highly suggest adding this to your thriller TBR.
A woman wronged by her deceased husband will stop at nothing to find out the truth. With nothing to left to loose, Cameron is determined to find out more about her husbands past, while trying to hide her own past.
This book has suspense, unexpected twist, and a little romance thrown in. Set mainly in the Alaskan wilderness, the imagery helps add to the suspense and the feeling of being alone with no one to trust. This was a quick listen.
The narrator does a great job with inflection when needed. Keeping the listeners attention and not slipping into a monotone like many do.
I want to thank Netgalley, and OrangeSky Audio for an advanced listening copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Cameron's husband John disappears on a camping trip in the Alaskan wilderness, and is presumed dead after his hunting partner recounts a bear attack and hearing John screen. After his death, Cameron discovers gruesome photos linking him to a crime and reports them to the police. Shockingly, John is revealed to be a serial killer targeting women in the area, dubbed the "Teacher Killer".
After John's secrets are exposed in the media, Cameron loses her successful dental practice and is shunned by everyone in her community. As time goes by, Cameron begins to wonder if John is really dead, or just in hiding, having faked his own death. She sets off into the Alaskan wilderness to look for John, discovering two local murders there and possible family-owned property up there.
I really, really, enjoyed this book. The plot was very unique and Cameron's character was well-written, and a strong woman to root for. I absolutely loved the descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness. The vivid imagery Cole created really drew me into the story. The book was well-paced and very enjoyable. I look forward to reading future titles from Cole. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this title in exchange for an honest review.
